Midfield has been the issue so far this season. We aren't creating many chances in games. Opposition goalkeepers aren't tested. Getting the best from the midfield is the problem as out forward(s) are feeding off scraps

This is the biggest rebuild in my 35 years of watching United. It will be disjointed as much of our business has been done late. I’m generally positive by some of the periods of play and we should improve & get more consistent.

I thought overall our under 23s matched a league 1 side but weren’t clinical enough and as a result we lost. Shows they are developing well but not quite there yet.

It was another chance for Wilder to see players who don't figure in the first 11 and a few given game time. Wilder will be pissed very few stepped up to the challenge. No point in seeing this as anything else one less route to injuries. Forget it and move on.

It’s hardly worth worrying about, it was a fitness exercise for most players.

If the manager doesn’t put a coherent team out then you can’t expect them to function coherently.

Just shows that our reserves aren’t good enough with Peck as the exception. Peck wanted to get on the ball, everyone else looked either rusty or not good enough.

Peck- not his best, but in fairness was lumbered with Coulibali next to him so not helped at all.
With no other cover he’s got to stay, but the rest need to go out on loan somewhere. Though I doubt any of the others will get a loan higher than L2 if they get an offer at all.

This is basically a late preseason game isn't it. Great to see RND make it 70 minutes, good for Campbell to get some minutes, JRS to get a start and some minutes.

I feel like none of them took it as an opportunity to lay a marker for the position.

Same as against Norwich though the threat was right hand side cutting in but not hitting the target, and then midfield hitting it from distance.

Not sure our centre forward has been in the game at all recently.

I’m afraid, I just don’t get the mentality of at best significantly reducing or your chances of winning, and at worst sabotaging a game which offers further opportunity to advance in a Cup competition with glory in the later stages, and a potential Wembley appearance.
Yes, I know, all the guff about resting players and getting others match fit, but 11 changes, seriously?
We’ve struggled this season to find the right first team combination, and tonight offered the perfect opportunity, to field a strong side to try gelling the first team a bit more, and who know’s give em a bit of confidence.If Wider, comes out with his usual plea, that the first team needs time to gel, he should be reminded from those above him, that he spurned the perfect opportunity tonight, to do exactly that.Feel sorry for the Blades that went tonight.Yes, they would be expecting changes but not 11 of them.

Watford is a big game this early in the season, we'll need to be at our best to beat them.

If we played our starting 11 tonight, knowing how important Saturdays game is, all it would have taken is an injury or 2 to some key players (Moore, Arblaster, Souttar etc) and suddenly we're going into the Watford game with key players missing.

Same reason why the likes of Rak-Sakyi, Hamer, Campbell and Brooks didn't play 90 minutes, we'll need them against Watford.

RND not getting 90 minutes is likely because we're managing his fitness, making sure he doesn't get injured again. In my opinion we rushed him back to soon last season and he ended up injured again.

Disappointing but also fully expected. Looking at the stats we should have won comfortably but looking at the team selection it was always a banana skin in waiting.
