Seriki

I can’t ever recall Wilder lying about an injury before… possibly the duration of an injury but not the injury itself. Don’t understand why Wilder would say ‘tight calf’ if it was a torn hamstring or a snapped tendon.
Do you think Shackleton has a cut foot..

Brooks and JRS wouldn’t terrorise anyone

JRS doesn't seem to have the confidence or consistency to repeatedly cause major problems. I also don't think he's got the physical attributes to make it at PL level. When you look at some of the beasts tearing it up in the PL for teams like Bournemouth and Brentford JRS is nowhere near that level.

Brooks does my head in. I think he's a very over-rated player. No way is he a winger. Ok he produces the odd flash of decent play (and took his recent goals well) but that's not enough. He hasn't got a clue when running down the wing towards the defender. He stalls our play by generally stopping and playing the easy ball cut back to another player. With the issues in the middle of the park of late, it's obvious too that Wilder doesn't see him as an affective midfield player - otherwise we wouldn't have shoehorned Burrows into midfield in times of need.

JRS will be fine with more experience and hold his own at high Championship/very low prem level. Brooks, I'm afraid, is low champ level - teams like Cardiff, Plymouth, Portsmouth will be his next move.

personally neither jrs or brooks are good enough to be regular starters imo but whilever we keep playing 4231 one of em has to be in the starting line up mind both would benefit down that right hand side if seriki could just keep fit

Brooks is an enigma At times he looks like a world beater at others he looks like he's making it up and even he doesn't know what he's going to do next. As you say Wilder obviously doesn't trust him to play central otherwise he'd have tried him but I'm not sure he's an out and out wideman.

He has the attributes to play in the middle as he's athletic, csn drive with the ball and will put a challenge in but it might be thst he just can't be trusted to play to instructions and you don't want a CM going rogue half the time

Are we forgetting JRS run of games where he was fantastic or what? In December a lot of us were worried that Palace would recall him.

He can blow hot and cold, and I'd say he's been much more cold than hot lately. But writing him off is crazy.

JRS could STILL be a difference maker. We have some excellent attacking talent but I think the only "out of nothing match winners" we have are Hamer and JRS.
Again, that's only an opinion because he's not done much to put himself in that category over Ohare, Burrows, BBD and Campbell but looking at his very best attributes, the lad can win us games if we get his confidence up and him firing on all cylinders.

Seriki does my head in too. The guy could be the real deal. He could be a top top player. But ....... well, you just can't reach and stay at that level if you are made of biscuits. Is it physical, mental or what with him? You can bet your life he'll leave for virtually nowt (or nothing like his potential worth) then suddenly be injury free and rip it up big time.

im not forgetting that spell he had but he has to do more imo in fact both of them do pity we couldnt get mikey johnson think he would have been great for us on that right wing

Tyrese Campbell and his bad back say hello.

It's just habit

True, because they would have to run at their full backs and beat them on the outside, which they rarely do.
The balance of the team just isn't right at the moment.
When Seriki is out we offer very little attacking wise down the right hand side.
Certainly JRS is poor defensively and offers little help to Gilchrist.
Gilchrist doesn't or can't offer the support going forward.
It seems strange that with the success that Wilder had with overlapping wingbacks , getting the ball out wide and delivering balls into the box that he now persists with narrowing play by using inverted wingers.

Would not have let Murphy torment him yday
Murphy would have beat every player except Seriki. Seriki would have had him back tracking more than attacking.

Seriki will go right to the top and maybe even make it as a regular in a top 6 prem team.

He has all the tools. Skill, power and pace will make him a top top player. If we go up then I can see him going after his first proper prem season.

If Clarke and Gilchrist are out for a little while then it's surely his turn?
He looks more comfortable there than Choudhury, which is to be expected.
