He's been backed and got his signings in now. Let's look for improvements

I can see why people are calling for his head, but I'm not into this hiring and firing mentality. I didn't think or fans were either, but we do seem to have grown more entitled over recent years.

The next international break is 5 games away...
-Ipswich (a)
-Charlton (h)
-Oxford (a)
-Southampton (h)
-Hull (a)

Need a minimum of 8pts from that, but the target should be 10-12 really
I have a feeling it’ll be zero before Oxford. Lose at Ipswich, then the pressure is really on for Charlton at home and by that time I believe the ghost will be well and truly up.

It could well be the players that decide his fate if the tactics for the upcoming game v Ipswich remain as they have been.

me id want chris basham to be in the frame WHY hes BLADE hes a kop legend bash is best they would never boo him hes a lovely man hes what were all about ,we would win a fans favorite has gaffer would work even if hes never done it before he will be a sucess he wins

Needs to be minimum 10 pts from those 15 pts for me. Any less just is not good enough with the squad he now has.

Ignoring the fact I can't see Nuno being remotely interested in our job at present, what if he's struggling after a few months?
Then we should probably go back to Wilder! (Am I saying that for the pile on or because it makes sense? who knows?)

Glad Rob Staton has ruled Rohl out. The way he's saying it he clearly knows it won't happen despite the ridiculous abuse on here. Would have been almost unforgivable to appoint him.

He could get 92 points and it still wouldn't be enough for some Unitedites.

Can I ask why it would be unforgivable to appoint Rohl in your opinion? Genuine question. I'll not say anymore until you've replied, assuming you do.

Why would Widler come back with A.I.being used when he didn't agree with it before?

Also the owners probably want more say in transfers.
I would guess that AI is being used across most professional football clubs in the country. It's just a high percentage of our fans are afraid of it/too thick to understand what it means.

Wilder was old school manager, looking at players on a cold night in February rather than A.I.

He’s a proven manager so we would need to take a hard look at the players. But we’ve just introduced some badly needed character and backbone into the squad so I don’t think he would struggle.

I know that. And scouting in person is still required.

How many times do we hear United fans question - "why don't United ever find these random players?" after watching a young foreigner put in a Worldy type performance against us? ... the reason is because we haven't been using data driven models (previously) and we've cast our net into the UK market only.

People go off on here and in the pubs and at Bramall Lane like we've got this Laptop at Shirecliffe that's just signing a player and the manager has nothing to do with it and then a random kid turns up the next week 🤣

The AI driven model we are using is no different to all the top clubs.
How do you think Brentford and Brighton have found all these random youngsters from Africa and South America? THEY USE AI

I know technology scares the shit out of many of our our older fans, but all it means is we input a dataset and some attributes that we are looking for in a player and the software (AI) processes absolute shit loads of data in seconds and tells them which players fit the profile.

Rather than just using Goals Scored, Assists and Clean Sheets etc. AI scours the professional player databases and will look at loads of things that many of us don't understand, or consider - progressive passes, possession recover time etc.

As a very very basic example is the website fbref.com.
I put in Vini Souza and it gave me a list of 10 comparable players:
1757431295767.webp

From there you can drill down and compare the stats to 5 of those players. See here: https://fbref.com/tiny/fOb3E

This is a public facing website that any of us can use. Kids can use it to find players to buy on Football Manager or FIFA.

Footverse.com is another great site to use which overlays graphs showing player strengths.
As an example, i'll take Pedro Obiang from the list of players above. I have no idea who he is, or how good he is. Here is his graph overlayed with Vini Souza:

1757431595007.webp

In less than a minute, i've found a player in Italy who looks like an ideal replacement for Vini Souza.

If I can do this, imagine what type of databases professional football clubs have access to and how they can analyse players to purchase.

We haven't spent £3m on Zatterstrom for the laugh.

he would deffo light the lane up and win games come home SKIP he would make a great blades gaffer kop legend..utb..

Steve Cooper gone to Brondby 😖
Good, people can stop banging on about him now - At no stage have I ever thought he'd be interested in us, or us in him.

See what happens Friday, then go from there.

If we lose, the board need to sack Selles before he's even got on the coach home.

If we win, then maybe, just maybe (and I am by no means a fan of the bloke as I have stated on here previously) we have given Selles to the tools to drag us out of the mess we are currently in, and get our season going.

A draw - now that would be the worst case scenario = no mans land.

Just to add about Chris Wilder and his UK Market purchasing.

I just checked his signings for United and here it is by division/country:

  • Premier League = 32
  • Championship = 25
  • League 1 = 14
  • League 2 = 1
  • Non-League = 2

  • Spain = 2 (one of which is British born BBD)
  • Belgium = 2
  • Norway = 1
  • Scotland = 1
  • Sweden = 1
  • China = 1
  • Germany = 1
  • Peru = 1
  • Bulgaria = 1

  • Free Agents = 3
That's quite alarming as a manager operating in the top 2 divisions in my opinion.

To pick some random comparisons... Burnley, Leeds and Sunderland are the 3 newly promoted clubs. Here are their signings this season:

Leeds (10 signings)
2x PL = Longstaff & Calvert-Lewin
1x CH = James Justin
7x signings from abroad

Burnley (14 signings)
7x PL = Ugochukwu, Broja, Humphreys, Anthony, Walker, Dubravka, Tuanzebe
1x CH = Flemming
6x from abroad

Sunderland (15 signings)
2x PL = Guiu, Adingra
0x CH
13x from abroad

So 3 newly promoted teams have purchased 26 players from abroad in one summer window and Wilder has signed a total of 11 for United EVER

If that doesn't highlight Sheffield United's need for a reset and change, I don't know what does.

Wilder would never be accepted by a proportion of our fans. We know that. Time to move on, I guess, but it's not without thinking we made a huge mistake.
