exact same as Wilders, lack of foresight for a quality CB, no lessons have been learnt from last season, we’ve been crying out for a BIG experienced centre half since Souttar left, so it seems that Selles seems to think Robbo bombscare is good enough, when we ALL know he isn’t, so we didn’t replace, now we have another massive HOLE, he has totally neglected any sort of preparation to improve what was ultimately our demise and Achilles heel for last season, now we need TWO quality CB and not bloody on loan, with next to no rumours or a hint of who we maybe going for if at all with 4 days to go, I despair……

The new owners seem to not have a strategy for the club, they also seem hellbent on surrendering their investment…

We all, well most said the same after December about defence and how it will ultimately duck us over, which it did, and now we’re saying if you don’t do something about it NOW, then we’re screwed this season.

Think Norwich, as that’s the trajectory we’re in at the moment mid table fodder.

Sort it out Selles, and the board.

Edit:

Stop pissing yer pants ffs. We could well sign all the players and more that you want before Saturday - then there's another 3 weeks to get them in if not.

Come back when the window slams shut if we haven't signed anyone, although I have a feeling that you won't be be seen anywhere if we do get those players in.

Don't you think you need to wait until the end of the transfer window before premature ejaculations?

Norwich, Boro, QPR, Derby, West Brom, Watford, Blackburn, Hull. All been in the Prem recently and are now mid table, beige championship teams with, for the most part, little hope of much more. God forbid we follow the trajectory of the Huddersfield, Barnsley, Bolton, Wigan and Cardiff's which, if something doesn't happen soon, is not that too far of a stretch. I am hoping something significant happens soon. Not completely optimistic it will

How do you know he has a blind spot? How do you know he isn’t banging the drum daily that he wants a CB, that he isn’t on the phone to every manager in the UK and on the continent?
How do you know the board aren’t listening to him but just not able to get a deal done yet as it is still comparatively early in the TW?

If Selles isn't the next Pep we will demand Micky Adams back.
People forget that Micky Adams was seen as a decent manager before he came to the Lane. As was Nigel Adkins and many more. In fact, I don't want to curse things but Bramall Lane could be seen as a highly-rated manager's graveyard.

In my lifetime the only managers that have gained promotion with the Blades didn't really set the pulses racing when they were appointed. They came from the following clubs: Rotherham, Wimbledon, Bury and Northampton.

Read the post again, we’ve needed replacements since December, my post is about being short sighted, which is exactly what your reply is…

We’ve needed replacements since DECEMBER… not just this close season… and whilst we’ve focisssd on attack we’ve heard nothing about defence, you are right things may have been going on in the background, but to hear next to nothing is unusual

But Selles wasn’t here in December, so he can hardly be blamed for that.
Hearing nothing isn’t necessarily bad - we were like a sieve for leaks in the last few years. As many have said, play your cards close to your chest. If you shout about desperately needing a CB, suddenly it’s a sellers (not a Selles ha ha) market.

Clubs that live more or less within their means, as we now have to.

I can't understand for the life of me why we're not showing ambition and following the pig's example of spending money for fun and going nowhere.

Oh, hang on a minute .............

Genuine question, why are so many fans pissing their pants more this summer off the back of a near promotion, than last summer when we got relegated as one of the worst embarrassments in Premier League history?

Please stop criticising Selles at every opportunity for not bringing in players when you have no idea what's going on behind the scenes, and there's still a month to go until the close of the transfer window.

Get a grip.

Exactly right T_K. All this negativity 4 days before a new season begins is bang out of order.

I’m not a bedwetter by any means but it concerns me that we were crying out for at least one tried and tested centre half and a right back at the end of the season and we are now 4 days from the start of the season with out a decent defence particular when we have looked a bit suspect defensively in pre season.

I get that the window is open for a while but we still have games to play and points at stake during that time.

Who knows what is going on behind the scenes - I’m sure that Selles has a plan and I’m sure he’s aware of our frailties, however it surely made sense to try and sort that out early doors so that they can have time playing together.

Raising concerns does not necessarily make one a bed wetter.

You can bet your bottom dollar that if Wilder was still here and we'd performed the same way in pre-season and in transfers loads would be backing him making excuses that we don't need many players, and don't panic, in Wilder we trust.

Disagree totally irrespective of Wilder the bulk of the fan base (not you Tony) has been screaming for a Souttar replacement since early January-

Anel now gone - who was also a top class Championship CB-

Please new owners - not loans -(that model is short sighted) spend the 20 million you have from Vini & Anel on 2 really good CB's then my friends we are top 6 bound..

I completely agree that not replacing Souttar was a significant part of our failure to go up. I also think losing Souza for so many games didn't help either as teams kept running through us easier and we gave up possession cheaply without him.
