That's true, but I do think the landscape changed during his time in prison. "Twitterstorms" were nowhere near as powerful 3 years ago and getting support for a cause and global exposure wasn't as easy as it is now, and feminism seemed to move up a gear certainly from a pop-culture point of view (I can't imagine Robin Thicke would have such an easy ride releasing
his single today). It's our board's failure to gauge the magnitude of what they were up against that I think caused the problems.
Indeed, but my point was that in the 2-3 months before his release in October 2014, they had a pretty good idea what they were up against. I agree that the amgnitude of it surprised everyone, but it was, in my view, pretty clear pre release that the cons outweighed the pros in terms of re-signing him.
