Sadly think football will carry on for us!

Why sadly?

As null and voiding might be our only hope to stay up!

We are boring to watch and don't look like scoring and are sleep walking to relegation currently unless we wake up quick individually and collectively and the manager sadly ;as much as I love him.

One of my mates did not even watch us today - played golf. That sums up current feeling sadly how dull we are to watch.

The last few years I have looked forward to games so much but now not going to games and the lack of crowds etc combined with United going to shit has not made it the most enjoyable weekends of watching. Can't say I have watched one game this season and thought I really enjoyed that and it is an entertainment business aswell as of course a results one. I rarely watch any other games now of other teams that is how I have kind of lost interest to some degree. Maybe if we were winning I would and I am a hypocrite but I am not sure? It just all seems a bit meh.

I might be on my own but would not be gutted if they stopped it until crowds came back but that might be looking at it through red and white eyes. From a purely selfish point of view - culling it would mean we could reset and go again next season but as I say it wont happen - Boris just said elite sport will continue.

Schools,Uni's,Kindergarten's will still be open,Gym's,Leg over joints. closed.

Sage told the Clowns in Dumbdown St to shut up shop in Sept for 2 weeks, but they were ignored,so what do the clowns do wait a month for things to get far worse, and then tell us we are shutting up shop for a month, fuckin hilarious.

Football should close down too.

The elite's is that just them who are playing in europe.

You're not on your own, Deadbat.

This imitation of football that is being shoved out to ensure that the TV money tap isn't turned off is just awful. Even the high-scoring games (that doesn't involve us, obviously) that the media are desperately hyping up are utterly banal. We all know that these aren't proper matches and that those results wouldn't occur in proper matches. It's fake.

As for our matches, I have caught bits and pieces but haven't watched one from beginning to end, since that dreary first game of 'Project Restart' at Villa Park.

Meanwhile my sons U11 Grassroots football has been cancelled till 10th Jan 2021.

On the Blades showing so far this season would prefer it other way round. 😀

That would cost us more in financially wise. It it becomes "null and void" then we lose a lot of tv money for the 2020-21 season and get only £100M from the 2021-22 tv money. We will have to pay two years wages (I believe our wages for 2019-20 were £53M) from the £100M tv money so that will mean we will have a very high debt not forgetting that we still have to pay the next instalments of transfer fees we agreed during the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons.

If we continue to play all the matches this season and get relegated at the end of the 2020-21 season, then we get at least £100M tv money (from 2020-21) and pay this season's wages and then we will activate the relegation clause in all the contacts ready for the 2021-22 season meaning our wage bill for 2021-22 will be a lot less than 2020-21 season (hopefully we will still receive the parachute money).

It this season becomes "null and void" but we still stay up at the end of the 2021-22 season then we will get the tv money only from the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons but still pay three season's wages (2020-21, 2021-22 and 2022-23) meaning we will have to sell our key players.

So are you suggesting we would be better to finish the season and go down than it be null and void? Interesting way of looking things and you could be right.

Financially I think if we stayed in the league for 4 or 5+ (then say we did go down at some point, we get the parachute payments) years even with a curtailed season if that happened and loss of some income, that would still set us up better in the long term.

There is no guarantee you can get back and look how long it took us last time.

Wouldn't every club be in the same boat too if a null and void happened? So who'd buy our key players? Not sure anyone outside Berge would interest the top teams and the rest would be all flogging players too on your reasoning?

Not going to happen as the season will finish. If we go down the money we have accrued will soon disappear on operating costs and wages (even if they go down as per relegation clauses) as we have seen at many other clubs. The days of teams yo yoing off parachute payments seem to have long gone and worryingly more struggle and seem to go the other way as quick.

If it's null and voided now how would that work financially? Presumably the PL has to pay the money back to Sky and clubs to sponsors etc, so we how would we then pay our wage and other bills? Can't imagine what there would be left to come back to next season if that happened.

I must admit, I think it is a pretty bad message allowing football to continue now, whilst people are going to have to suffer and sacrifice so much. The travel exceptions that’s going to be allowed makes a bit of a mockery of it all.

Concentrating on the tv money only, yes, I think we will be a lot worse off financially if a) this season becomes "null and void" and we get relegation at the end of the 2021-22 season than if b)we carry on playing all the games this season and get relegation

scenario a) we receive the tv money from 2021-22, a little from 2020-21, pay out wages for 2020-21 and 2021-22 plus the next instalments of the transfer fees we agreed during the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons

b) we receive full tv money from 2020-21, pay out wages for 2020-21 (hopefully we still get the parachute payments for 2021-22) plus the next instalments of the transfer fees we agreed during the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons and the wage bill for 2021-22 will be a lot less than this season after we have activated the relegation clauses

Scenario c) If this season becomes "null and void", we still stay up at the end of the 2021-22 season but get relegation at the end of the 2022-23 season then we will get the tv money only from the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons but still pay three season's wages (2020-21, 2021-22 and 2022-23) would be better than scenario a) but not sure if it is better than b)

Couldn’t give a flying fuck either way. How can you get excited about a team you can’t support and watch in the flesh? It’s like porn, pull the old pud but it’s not the same as the real thing is it??
