I renewed on Tuesday after saying I wouldn't ... kept getting urges , oooer missus :)

Come on get renewing or its see ya Wardy !!!!!!!

I've renewed mine along with 6 other family members (more than last year). None of my mates have renewed, but they are all going to. Apathy is in control, but come the deadline they all know that going to watch United is better than the alternative.

On a separate note, I was delayed in getting tickets for The Sty and was stunned to find I could only get restricted view seats. We've sold both tiers, despite seemingly a massive lack of interest. Sending the bastards down seems appealing.

UTB

I've just spent my ST money on a new exhaust system and front anti-rolls to get The Beast through its MOT. I might email KMC and thank him for paying for it.

Now then, where's my road map for Meadowhall....? :p

Funnily enough I have just spent £299 on meadowhall shopping vouchers,i'm sure the money was supposed to be for something else , though I can't remember what:)

How long you been supporting the Blades, 5 years?

you take apart the paragraph and pick out a sentence to make me look stupid, cockend. i feel it is at an all time low with regards to match atmosphere, buzz of the game, im seeing middle aged blokes who have been going home and away for decades and at the minute its like a chore for them going to the match. I feel the club are out of touch with the average fan. so thats why is said the club was at a low. Please dont quote a sentence out of a paragraph again mate to make a poster look stupid, do you work for the sun newspaper by any chance?

Oi... as it says in the rules, name calling might be the norm on other message boards but here, it isn't.

To be honest i didn't read past the first sentence.

I've watched us for over 25 years and i have seen us getting beaten at home by Oldham Athletic in front of 8,000 supporters, seen a chairman do a runner with the gate reciepts, seen us under transfer embargoes, seen us play for 2 season in a three sided ground after the club knocked the old one down and couldn't afford to build a new one, i've seen my absolute heroes sold to Leeds, Edwards and Deane. I've seen Deane and Fjortoft both sold on the same day, and the highly regarded young manager we had walk out as the quality team he built was sold from underneath him, i was there for the Port Vale game with less that 9,000 in the ground. (People who have been going longer will have seen more)

Things like was when the club was at an all-time low. Thats i picked up on at one paticular sentence.

well iv seen us with worst starting 11, iv seen us with worst chairmen and worst grounds. but like i said in my post, I have not seen the club as downbeat as this we are in a rut, its the first we have been on a down, by that i mean the club are not saying we will be progressing the club and taking it forward. In fact for one of the first times in footballing history the men in charge are telling us we will be going backwards, the football will not be as good, the wages are not there etc etc.

As fans how can you buy into that??

Season Ticket Sales

Pigs claim to have sold 9000 season tickets for next season
I read on here the other day that the ticket office said we've sold 4000

This isn't anti Blackwell/ Birch/ McCabe or the club post, but how can we go from out selling them by a country mile to being way behind to a club that charges more and is on the verge of relegation and probably administration.

Now I know it isn't panic stations, they've had their Season Tickets on sale for longer than us and we have all summer to get the sales up, but its a little concerning.

Obviously there are is a number of people that won't renew whilst Blackwell's in charge, money is also an issue, but i'm sure pig fans are affected by the money issue as much as us.

What other reasons are there for such poor sales? Are we really so fickle that we won't buy season tickets whilst were doing poorly?

Nowt to do with being fickle im my opinion. Winning is not something that I expect, we can hope obviously, but that aint the be all and end all. A team of fully contracted professionals playing with pace, energy and desire would be nice - that is all I ask for.

I'll be getting a ticket but you have to remember that our recent crowds have been extraordinarily high compared with most CCC seasons in the modern era. At the start of 05/06 we got 16k v PNE I believe and 17k v Coventry. That to me is a natural level for SUFC (and crowds were alot lower at start of this century) and this for me is a return to those days.

What is worrying however is that people who have been going year in year out are seemingly not renewing.

That's the issue for me as well. Many long-term fans simply feel it's not worth it and the club don't seem bothered either way.

Don't know the current figure to date, but yesterday morning 9.00am to lunchtime they moved 500 st's (o/s)

I think traditionally we are late renewers. I'm hoping by Saturday that figure will be close to wendys

Remember, they have been pushing, selling and pushing their renewels for 5 months. We have been selling ours for less than 5 weeks.

If we get near the 9k mark by deadline I'll be satisfied under the circumstances. Hopefully, a couple of "right" decisions by the board at the end of the season and that figure will climb a few thousand higher. If not, back to 15 - 18k crowds! :(

Fair enough Mic, but i'm sure there will be some that are more fickle.

I fully expect attendances to drop a little because there will always be a small percentage of fair weather friends.

So lets assume we have a base of 15,000 fans, this season we had something like 19-21,000 ST holders (someone can correct that figure if its far wrong)

The renewals so far haven't even reached a third of our base and we're a few days from the end of the Early Bird savings... Obviously there will be many that can't renew until after the deadline, but I don't see this boosting the figures dramatically. And I can't imagine there will be a scramble of new ST holders.

Looks worrying...

I've just renewed two STs and asked how many have renewed. The girl didn't know but said they had been non-stop in the last two days which had suprised them as they weren't expecting a late rush. Non renewed seats will not be released until end of May which suggest that the renewal deadline maybe extended or only a slight increase prior to non renewed seats being released.

Just renewed mine & was told we have sold around 5800. Not great but still time to pick up. And as mentioned above, comparisons with the Pigs are silly at this stage given that they have been selling & extending early discount deadlines for theirs for months.

Unless we are extending our deadline, it's a very fair comparison.

Indeed how long have our ST been available for renewal for? How many at the same stage (time wise) had the porkshank redemption shifted?

It makes absolutely no difference.
The two clubs will have sold x number of season tickets for next season at the end of the deadline for renewals at roughly the same point in the year.
5,800 is frighteningly bad and likely to be a source of great mirth at S6.
But if the club doesn't care, at least they'll not be suprised thousands of fans don't either. The apathy's mutual.
Strange way to run a business though.

Of course it makes a difference. Their deadline has passed (& was extended several times). I'd be surprised if we haven't at least matched their figure by our weekend deadline.

I agree that KM & the Board's management of the club & communication with the fans is shockingly poor though.

It makes not a blind bit of difference. We're both either at or near the renewal deadline and both will continue selling through the summer.
In fact, although Wednesday fans have had a go at Strafford for his policy of early sales maybe he's a bit cleverer than we thought.
Or perhaps as a club/business, they just realised making an effort often brings about results.

Of course it makes a difference, according to their site they sold 7,600 the day before the extended, extended, extended offer closed, and they actually still have one running. They started selling on November 16th and comparatively hadn't sold half our number by the new year.
So even if you are comparing we've had 6 weeks and were are looking at being 1,500 short with 4 days to go. I think we will shift that many before Saturday.
I don't think they can be too full of mirth over that one Len lets see how many are sold in total at the start of next season before we stick a Morrissey LP on.

Whilst I am fed up with KM & the Board, your determination to be ultra-negative regardless of the facts is ludicrous.

Their deadline - despite being extended - has passed. Our has not. When our deadline has passed this weekend we will be able to make the first meaningful comparison.

As for Strap-on being clever, give over.

They've sold 9,000 out of 14,000 they sold last year.
We've sold 6,000 out of 19,000.
Even if we get to 9,000 or 10,000, I can see a problem in terms of comparison unless they're forced to stop selling during the summer because they tried too hard and cheated by selling them earlier and more keenly.

Where does it say they've cleared 9,000 renewals? The only figure on their site is 7,600 and they've been selling them for 5 months and they are now on general sale whereas ours aren't.

Eh? So now you think we might sell more than them but you are saying that doesn't matter because the key measure is who sells the biggest % of last season's sales. Bonkers.

Jeez, if you can't see the relevance of this season's figure with next, there's not much more I can help you with.

But you aren't comparing like for like, compare our tickets at the start of next season with what we sold last season or compare how many renewals we have at the end of the discount period (which might well be extended).
You were the one on about how many Wednesday had sold which again wasn't comparing like with like.

Its like going to a restaraunt where the food is sh ! t ...... eventually you give up
