Season Tickets

Excellent moving of the goal posts as your mental rantings fall apart.

Two football clubs.
Both set a deadline for renewals.
One sets it for April 10, the other for April 17.
The first one sells 9,000.
The second one sells maybe the same.
The first one sold around 14,000 last year in total.
The second one sold around 19,000.
Both clubs sold season tickets throughout last summer
Both clubs will sell season tickets throughout this summer.
I can see where the goalposts are. I can also see how the maths work.
As someone once said, it's not rocket science.
Do we always have to go through the 'we don't like what Len says' for a few weeks before it becomes accepted?

Len, I'm at quite a low wrt the club at the minute, but you seem determined to spout negatives, no matter when.

If you want to compare deadline sales, than why not compare it with Wendy's first deadline day, before it was extended, and before it was extended again.

They've been selling for far longer and have extended several times due to poor sales. If you can't acknowledge that this is significant then once again your determination to be negative, no matter what, is exposed.

You make some good points at times, but it's often lost in continual negativity.

Do any of you wonder why Sheffield Wednesday really started selling their season tickets in November. Let's just say there probably isn't much of that money left and whether they get relegated or not they are fooked.

I've said all along that there is a £1.77M shortfall on this seasons budget. The money has gone [might be 250K left if their lucky].

In the pooh.

Yes, an extension to the deadline will make a small difference, but ours have been on sale plenty long enough. There's always alast minute rush no doubt but I rang up for mine yesterday afternoon and got through instantly. If we scrape 9,000 by the end of this week that is about 10k who haven't renewed and they had plenty of time to do it. Wendy have lost 5,000.

I suppose if we extend the deadline a few more will get one and there's a few wealthy lads who don't care about the deadline but cutting through your problem with the way Len posts on occassion - I can't see how anyone can disagree with what he is saying.

People were very quick to laugh at wendy's sales figures earlier this year - well at this moment in time they have more season ticket holders than us for next term. All the advantages of the past few seasons have been lost - Sheffield now has two very mediocre professional football clubs

So Wednesday tickets have been onsale with reductions for nearly 6 months and ours have been on sale 6 weeks and you think this is comparable?

Surely the only fair comparison is at the start of the season against last seasons totals.

Wendy put there's on sale very early because of major cash flow problems.

They have sold 9,000.

we put our on sale at a later, usual, date giving fans a month to purchase before the deadline. Plenty long enough. We will shift about the same 9,000. I don't think we intended to extend the deadline and might not do so. Wendy's step was unusual and unpopular and an extension was pretty much inevitable. This is not the case with us - there has been nothing unusual or unpopular about the way we have sold ours - people are looking at the shite on offer and not bothering - less wendy fans are making that decision. We have lost 10,000 season ticket holders and will do well to limit that to 8,000 with sales after this Friday.

At the start of next season we may have a few more season ticket holders than them but the key figure for me is the drop and on that score we are miles in front.

I'm trying to think of a good reason an existing STH would wait until after the early deadline to renew?

Totally agree. They'll be a few who just don't get round to it and will sufer the extra £40 or so but very few. I think wendy fans just took massive offence to being asked to fork out so early and the weight of feeling against it meant extensions were inevitable. All we have to complain about is a truly awful product (which could easily get worse under KB), not the timing of sales. I don't think many will be shifted at all after this week - unless KB goes which will see a brief upturn, hence my stuff above about sales after Friday.

Of course it's comparable. It's the only comparison there is to make.
We both have a deadline for renewals - how long they've been on sale doesn't matter in the slightest.
Perhaps you're close to acknowledging this has worked in SWFC's favour as they have shifted a far higher percentage than we have.

There you go again with your silly % argument. A simple question....would you be happy if we sold more STs than them? I would & I think we will.

What's the obsession with how many ST holders we will have compared with the Pigs at any point or on any measure. We will have x amount they will have y amount. If they have have more so what it's hardly going to make anyone switch allegiance is it? The thing is we're not very good at football and they're even worst end of.

Well for me it is a case of seeing what players are in place before I part with my dosh.
I'd go to Edinburgh instead but that's shit as well:mad:

But on the upside, you just c and p the moans on here onto Bounce and just have to swap Yogi for KB - simples!

Might be going up for 1st may if you fancy?

So, we've met the first deadline and we've sold over 12,000. If we extend it (twice) as Wendy have done, maybe it will hit 15,000. So you can wind you neck in a tad, Lenners.....:)

12,001 my friend! I missed the 4pm deadline today (asleep on the sofa) but discovered I could still buy on the website just now at the discounted price. Woo! :D

As for Len and the chances of neck-winding... Slimmer than Strafford's gastric band.

Not far off last year according to the person I spoke to today at SUFC.

Yes apparantly north of 12,000 with some postal applications still to sort. 13k is looking realistic if reports are true.

Must admit, I didn't expect that.

Looking at a few facts:

We have half a squad
We have on the whole been shite
We have half a squad of loanees (well almost)
We've been really shite this season
We have suffered the worst injury season I can remember in modern times
One last thing..................we've been sh1te!

We have managed (yes managed) to push close to 13k st sales (if reports are correct) in 5 weeks. The pigs have sold 9k in 5 months

Before anyone starts, Wendy weren't in the bottom 3, five months ago. Most of their fans were/are buying in to the Lee Strafford circus show. They now have a 12 month direct debit scheme. They have been telling us for long enough about a level playing field in terms of finance and wage budgets and yet in 5 weeks against all odds (according to some) we've managed to go straight past them. Don't forget also...............they're massive you know!

I think under the circumstances, we have done well to hit the current figure.

Furthermore, one stirring statement from messrs KM and TB and a couple of decent signings (well we can hope can't we?) and we could add a few more. Also the deadline should be extended for any stragglers and also for the affluent fans who may be stuck in Europe due to cloud 9!

Well done to all those that have renewed.

Where is this 9000 Wendy ST come from? On their official site the only figure mentioned is 7600 the day before their renewal offer closed.

So using Len's flawed system they sold 7600by the end of their renewal (6months) we sold 13,000 (6 weeks). Wednesday have seen there sales down by 6,400 on early renewal and we are down 6,000.
A couple of positive announcements from the board will see that increase close to 17,000 if not higher.

I predict we'll sell around 16k season tickets and average about 23k next season.

I echo what bob and alco have said on this thread re the two clubs season ticket sales, but it's a bit irrelevant now since we've sold far more than them.

I said weeks ago I wasn't renewing and I haven't changed my mind since.

For a few hundred quid I expect some entertainment a little more frequently than maybe 1 or 2 times in 24. I'll go to some games next season, but when I choose to.

A resounding defeat tomorrow isn't going to do anything to change my mind either.

I still find it interesting how many times a person who says it can't be done, is interrupted by someone who's already doing it...

Sorry for it being a bit late and also if it's already been posted but when i got mine on Wednesday (or Tuesday can't remember) they said that we'd sold pretty much the same as we had at that stage last season.

I'm pleased and surprised in equal dollops. It's not just the final-straw merchants on here, but the people around me in the South Stand who convinced me the number would plummet. Remarkable commitment all round.

I've renewed, as i always do.

Not eagerly licking my lips about next season, but still looking forward to going to the games.

Marshy, sort yourself out. Get yourself a s-t bought

Aye, come mid-August we'll be up for it again. No Ashes Tests to distract us, and hope always thrives when the sun comes out.

And despite the doom and gloom we renewed our 5 yesterday.

Hi Bob,

Don't know if I'm allowed to post a link to porktalk. However, on deadline day they certainly hit 8,500 (8,300 initially) and by the close of play got it up to 9,000.

That may have risen some after deadline day, in which case Len will be ecstatic.
