Scougall

Like quite a few other he was mismanaged to the state of bewilderment ,all their confidence and heart visibly drained away under Adkins. How many players lost form beyond recognition ,under Wilder it could be like buying a new player ,so whys the point of shelling out ? Im surprised at Harris but maybe Wilder prefers bigger defenders or less injury prone or he simply has a couple of left backs lined up ?

People need to remember that Jamie Murphy was absolutely shite for us until the FA Cup run under Clough. He was bloody awful.

I think Scougall could still come good.
But Jamie Murphy had the physique of a spotty 17 year old, not a spotty 11 year old.

Just like with Reed, who will disappear into oblivion, you have to really excel at something when you're so small. Neither of them do, at anything.

Well it's interesting comparing Scougall and Flynn. Flynn has been here about twice as long as Scougall. Flynn has played exactly three times as many league games but scored more than four times the number of goals. In FA Cup games Flynn has played 75% more games but has scored 500% more goals. In the League Cup their record is exactly the same allowing for appearances.

Interesting then that one is booted out and the other, for the moment remains.
It's a doubt act, shite and shiter.

I'm so glad Flynn has gone - he epitomises this dreadful era.

I think Scougs has a chance because he's clearly very mobile, a quality we lack, and he's got a good attitude.

But regrettably he's far too lightweight for this agricultural Division and that's not going to change anytime soon, as the quality & standard of refereeing is poor.

Remember the famous "wrestling throw" at Bradford, which was live on Sky ?

He will never be able to compete in this Division .........

You're forgetting the season before under Clough, when he managed one goal and zero assists and looked like a boy playing with men most of the time. That wasn't Adkins' fault.

Exactly. Adkins gross "mismanagement" got 2 wins less than the idiot who bought this lot. Whilst Adkins own minimal dealing (he's signed 3 players) was poor, the gross mismanagement occurred under Clough.

Let's see where all these "mismanaged" fuckers end up.

I'm glad he's got another chance..he's mobile and can run past people and open the game up..CW wants us to be more mobile, press the opposition and move the ball quickly and likes players who can run with the ball..Scougs could look a different player under a new Manager..same hopefully for one or two more.

And youre forgetting the season before when he played well ,when our way of play suited him ,who says that player cant return ?

Do you actually think Adkins was doing fine then ?

I'm going on the basis that Done seems to have lost at least 2 yards of pace in the last 12 months, and pace was his asset .......

Scougal is just too lightweight and that won't change ...... waste of a shirt as there are much better attacking midfield players available on a free atm ......

In Dones defence DB he got injured pre season so never had the benefit a good preseason can give you. Was always playing catch up after that and the wing back position didn't particularly suit him. Let's see what happens because if Wilder plays the 4-2-3-1 that he apparently has in the past I could see him doing a job behind the main striker

I don't personally think Scougall is going to be good enough, he lacks any end product and doesn't have the physical attributes at this level. However, he certainly does have some very positive attributes - attitude, pace, work ethic, dribbling - and I doubt he's on silly wages so he's maybe worth another look.

Glad he's kept Matty Done on too, a great finisher, another hard worker and another with pace and a good attitude. There's no reason why he shouldn't be able to play with Sharp, at worst he's a goal scorer who will contribute important late goals from the bench. I just hope Wilder sees him as a striker because it's obvious that's what he is.

All in all I think Wilder's nailed all of his early moves, he's ahead of Adkins at the same stage last season. Really looking forward to seeing who he brings in now, the early signs are that he values pace and hard work.

How'd you work that out? :)

He didn't get chance to sign many players. Now, on the evidence of Hammond that's possibly not a bad thing, but none the less we can judge him on 3 signings. There's clearly a chance given more opportunuties he'd have got it right, and maybe not.

Clough had free reign. He has signed a team full absolute shit. That's as clear as day.

My only defence of Adkins, and for that matter Clough, is that I think the game is just too short term, and I want to give managers more time. If a year and a half and shit loads of resource wasn't enough for Clough, then a year with a handful of signings wasn't enough time for Adkins.

I'm pleased with Wilder. For once, and unlike with both managers above, I think the days of shite like Paul Coutts and Dean Hammond raping my club are over.

He didnt get chance to sign any because he blew the fucking budget on the ones he did ,along with the loans ,I know you are in denial but Clough was laying foundations and had a plan going forward ,a team was taking shape no matter how many times you deny it. Adkins had nothing ,no foundations , no plan no outlook going forward ,we were a club lost, players dint want to play the club was in absolute turmoil .As for 3 signings ? Come on Sharp ,woolford ,Sammon ,Hammond , Baptiste ,Edgar ,how much do you think that lot were dragging out of the club a week. Maybe some of those players that left might have been better with a decent manager ,he had free reign don't kid yourself ,I know from the negotiations Brannigan had to do that he did ,and after he left Baptiste didn't come for nothing.

Sorry fella, I got to "Clough was laying foundations" and spat my coffee out.

Throw is your obvious admiration for Paul Coutts, and I'm the one in denial? Fuck me.

UTB

PS Your man Clough signed the horror show that was Sammon, as has been well established.

Wilder has done more in a week than Mr Wobblygob did in 11 months

Bollocks. Clough was a disaster. Adkins tried but just couldn't sort his shit out for us

Look down the list of players released, and the players transfer listed.

Now, Adkins doesn't come out smelling of roses, far from it. But fucking hell, what an utter, utter pile of shite Clough assembled.

I think Scougall is another that will eventually move on. He has not really done anywhere near enough and in same sense as Coutts, Hammond etc, does not offer any of the qualities you want in a midfielder.

I think situation with him and Mcnulty is that they may be sold anyway but prob have some interest...unlike the others.

The problem Wilder has is that he cant transfer list many more than he has as having 10-12 players on the list in and around the club even if not training with the 1st team could affect morale badly in the club. I totally applaud what he has done though but concern is that most of those 7 will still be around. I think United might have to pay a few of them off.

So you read up to the part that suited you but not the part you don't want to exist.
Yes Clough signed Sammon 3 months after he left the club. Give him some credit for signing Sharp and Baptiste then.
Coutts will be a good player for someone next season now he is getting back to full fitness providing he gets a decent midfield alongside him. That was Adkins problem he couldn't build a team.,

Didn't we get in the play offs when Clough left. We were fucking miles off when Adkins left , in a far worst state ,I thought a manager was supposed to manage ,Adkins just mis-managed and caused problems for himself.

Let's examine these foundations he was laying;

Mark Howard
Bob Harris,
Harrison McGahey
Jay McEveley
Florent Cuvelier,
Ryan Flynn (Extension)
Jamal Campbell-Ryce.
Kieron Freeman
Kieran Wallace
James Wallace
Stefan Scougall
Connor Sammon

And let's also give credit to others who he let add to our wonderful base, Chris Porter's contract extension and a host of other names so dismal they escape me.

To a man, all off to footballing oblivion.

I'll settle this for you.... Adkins and Clough (second season) both did shit and both needed to go :)
