Surely, if the players don't like the other players having a go at them they would learn how to not make that mistake, such as Howard surely he can learn how to extend his arm in order to stop the ball or can cut off a cross going for a tap in, rather than watch it glide past himself at ease. Howard isn't the only player, but most of the other players, like freeman's are down to laziness and not being fully aware that the ball is coming towards them. If you respond well to a poor performance fans, players and coaches will regard you as a better player, like Murphy did after a few poor games last season. And please stop trying to find other scapegoats such as Davies, the fans, etc because for me its down to the coaching staff, like Clough and the goalie coach. Because I believe many errors are down to tactics and how the players are being coached as we have a bunch of talent full lads who with the right tactics can preform well, but under Clough you'll never get the highest potential out of the lads. As we saw at Derby, when clough was there they were a bottom middle table team and as soon as he left they dramatically improved and they still are. So please wake up and realise where the blame should be placed and not every so often bringing up players to blame and then say its the fans fault because they have the right to complain and criticise and complaining on here doesn't affect the players or managers, you might say something on here and it would make no change to the team. You might speculate about who you would like to see signed and it would make zero change to who Nigel Clough wants to buy. Yes shouting "your shit" out from the crowd would affect a player but in order to be the best of your ability you need to block it out and focus on how to stop it.
We just need some leadership on the pitch . If Clough could get each player to be leaders in there own way , we would certainly be successful. I think the players as daft as it seems are finally finding there mojo . ( some only came in the JTW , but were thrust straight into the team ).
The recruitment of players and waiting until you get your man , is a good ethos , but not good for promotion in that particular season.
The coaching has been in question all season , especially on set pieces , corners , marking . Clough has to do something about that , and perhaps one of the best signings could be a bloody good coach ( not SUT ).
Clough is very loyal to his staff , so if he stays i cannot see him getting rid of anyone , unless the board do it for him,
This business of the fans affecting the players , i actually think this is nonsense , as each individual player is so focused , that the hub of the crowed should not affect them . 20,000 giving support certainly helps , but individuals , players usually couldn't give two fucks.
Clough will do his football business in the Clough way , in a bit like Thatcher said . The lady is not for turning , with the same applies to Clough.
Clough is here to stay , good and bad . Garner , Crosby . Morgan have to look at themselves in the mirror and step up to the challenge . Simon Clough will also step up , i hope .
The bottom line is , although we finally appear to be professional and business like with good acumen in the board room , we have appeared very amateurish on the football side this season. Clough with a bit of savvy and eating humble pie , can get us back on track , without us having to spend our money ( meant for player transfers ) , on sacking Clough and Co , and paying off contracts.
Forget Atkins , Think Pemberton or Booker joining the coaching team , with the blessing of the board.
