Anyone wondering what the letters are along the base of the stand?

These were the scoreboard for other matches. Wednesday were alway “A”.

A man would walk up to them with numbered tiles in his hand and display the latest scores as they happened. There was often a loud cheer as he put a 1 (or higher) next to “A” followed by a lower number. It was the equivalent of the current day chant of “Sheffield Wednesday’s f*cked it up again.

Things we did eh? before Mobil phones, Electronic scoreboards and ‘t tinterweb!

If memory serves , there was a red indicator and a yellow indicator, with another set of scores at the front of the Bramall Lane terrace. Complicated stuff!
The chant existed in those days but it was "Jackie Charlton's f*cked it up again".

One of those poor lads could well have been me. I helped with snow clearing on a few occasions.

As a young lad I used to love getting the programme & seeing which team the letters were & then the cheer when the fella put up that the pigs were losing.

Did it not used to be at the bottom of the away end?

That's where I remember it, on the white railings opposite the cricket pitch when we had a three sided ground.
