He doesn't look any better to me than he has whenever he's been fit
He was outstanding v spurs and Chelsea in the prem before his Injury

He was never as bad as some were making out .unbelievably footballers do play better when fully match fit and with a run of games

Let's hope Brewster and mcburnie are next
He's a much better player now. He's stronger in the tackle, keeps up with play better, makes better breaks into the box and he's found a role for himself.
Those games in the PL that you mentioned were excellent performances but he wasn't consistent enough then or since. This season he's found that fitness and consistency (finally a player that just needed a preseason)

Big thing for me is that the players around him know him and know where to make the right runs

You're right, he was never that bad, just wasnt up to speed to be at his best

As for his value its as much as someone wants to pay and whatever the release clause is.

No one’s buying him, I just can’t see anyone with the money who would be interested.
I’ve been a big defender of his but any suggestion of £25m or more to a top 6 at this stage is nonsense and lower league sides will be wanting starters not someone for the bench.

Sander was top class post first lockdown; start of prem season two; final third of last season; beginning of this season. Why? These are all the periods he's been fit at United.

It's no mystery, it was predicted and predictable. He's a massive unit for a central midfielder, the eagle eyed will have noticed him flagging last week. Guess what? He'll get stronger as the season goes on due to this.
Agree - fitness is the key. Needed to get up to speed with the pace of the English game, then had injuries. Hopefully behind him now, and he's probably as fit as he's been. The main contributory factor of his performances.

As someone living in a diametrically opposed time zone, this thread is a constant nightmare. I wake up as you lot go to bed, check the forum, see the Sander Berge outgoing thread is top of the rumour mill with 4 new pages, panic he's been sold, and then read a whole bunch of conjecture of whether he is actually any good.

It's great isn't it?!
Doesn't happen as often on this thread, but the BEST is when you ask a question and someone jumps in with "that was answered 10 pages ago, can't you read??". 😂 personal favourite of mine that is

I’ll be honest. If I was him I’d go and live in Milan for a few years.

In fact if I was a footballer good enough to play in the top European leagues I would move around every couple of years and try to live in places like Copenhagen, Hamburg, Milan, Bologna, Bergamo, Vienna, Rotterdam, Nice, Cologne.

And definitely not Manchester

I saw Fabregas has decided to play in the Italian second tier with Como.
He's feathered his nest and now going to enjoy seeing out his footballing days living on Lake Como. What a life.

Don't know if anyone has made this point anywhere in the previous 98 pages but Sander is as important to us this season and looking equally as good as MGW who has signed for Forest for £44m. I'm absolutely convinced that MGW has not proven to be twice the player SB is so why would we even consider taking anywhere near half that price?

Lured to Como by Dennis Wise, no less. He's chief exec of the club (bit of an odd 'Where are they now?' discovery).

The missus has friends who live on Lake Como. We're eagerly awaiting an invite to visit.

Hope you get your invite, one of my favourite places to visit.
I’m lucky that I get to go through work!

Berge has clearly stepped it up since the early part of this year and is starting to look like a very good Championship midfielder. He still isn't particularly stand-out for me though, like Gibbs-White was. He's also a bit of a one trick pony (although excellent at that particular trick) and far from a complete midfielder.

Players who make the step up to the Big 6 from the Championship usually stand out like a sore thumb in the lower leagues (I'm thinking Maguire, Walker, Bale but I'm sure there are many more). I don't think Berge is anywhere near that level.

Lake Como is beautiful but you wouldn't want to live there, maybe a holiday home but not permanent,
The upside of course is that Milan is thirty minutes away by the local train.

The way I've seen it is different. There were a couple of games post lockdown when you could see the talent was there. He was as anonymous as the rest of the midfield in season 2 up to the injury (although I recognise playing in a team out of their depth wasn't going to leave anyone looking good. He started to come good last spring when he was pushed 30 yards further up the pitch, and always looks better played there. TBF, Hecky is the only one who's really learned that, although even he keeps trying to pick him deeper (Sunderland) and it doesn't work.

Hopefully this is the clubs response to any enquiries.

"Who's Sander Berge? What's a Sander Berge? Nope, no Sander Berges here. Wrong number".
"Sander Berge"
"I think you're looking for the beachfront chalet caf at Scarborough. Wrong number."

Have you been to Milan? It's bang average.

"If its Sandra Berger you are after, she's crap anyway, plenty of people on S24SU have told me that, she once neshed a tackle two seasons ago and caused Janie Lunestrum to have to leave for Berwick on Tweed. Good bye now"

Excellent point. Different types of player, but you are spot on.

MGW is good, very good, but £44m good? No way, not yet at any rate.

Forest setting themselves up for a Derby County-esque fall if they don’t stay up. Could be carnage.

Well I'm still not sure that we will, and I'm sure we wouldn't back then (that still makes him a good player by championship standards you know?). But I'd now imagine between £10-15M, based on the uptick in his performances.

I'm sure I'm nearer the mark than his fanboys, when it comes to his valuation.

I listen to this talk about Liverpool interest and nearly piss myself. :D

Of course, I hope the fanboys are right.
You know full well he won't go between 10 and 15m, because there's not a chance in hell we'd accept a bid at that level these days. You don't run the club anymore, Kev.
