If the rumours about Coops being out for a year are true then we should be all over Tickle. Davies is not good enough and costs us points with his brain fart decisions.

Tickle could come in and establish himself as No1 leaving Coops as back-up....Davies puts no pressure on the No1 shirt.
Wilder confirmed that Cooper didnt need an operation. He is expected to be ready for the pre-season.

cooper is still one of the best keepers in the championship but it is a risk to go with davies as back up when were after a top 6 spot

Which makes triggering his contract option another really strange decision. He won’t be on loads but it could still be better spent elsewhere.

There is still the spectre of Grbic’s wage too. If we can’t shift him (and last couple of windows suggests we can’t) he might as well be on the bench and we can pocket Davies wage.

Really poorly thought out squad planning, again.

We've quite literally shifted Grbic's wages for the last two seasons?

We have also decided that we want to go with the undisputed #1 approach meaning we need a player happy to be backup. If you can find a better option than Davies - experienced keeper who's happy to play second fiddle while taking a relatively low wage - then I'd be surprised.

Finally, as SUFC Guy says, Davies didn't really do anything wrong in his 13 matches.

Maybe we'll try to cash in on Cooper and replace him. There is logic to that given his injury troubles

If we do that then Tickle seems like one we should be all over at that price
Coopers resale value is zero with his knees

We should've been in for him, he's far far better than Cooper. But we can't be replacing one of Wilder's Boyz can we
So is Dean Henderson. As for if Tickle is, I'm not sure.

Fact is, IF Cooper gets back into form and is injury free we have a top keeper in the championship. That is more than good enough.
The competition despite Davies doing OK last season could be much improved however.
