He looks like an out and out target man but not much more from those highlights. But he is young and we don't currently have that option other than Hanson and he isn't good enough for this level. Its only brief highlights though and always difficult to assess from those.
Since when has anyone ever been bothered about our target man being able to trap a bag of cement ??

Big.

Bigger.

Biggest ;)

If he hasn't got a good goal to minute ratio and doesn't look good from highlights, I'd say don't bother. The fans are so desperate to sign somebody it looks like 'we' are demanding anybody and hoping for the best. If they aren't out there save your money and give our squad and youth a chance.
I'm filing Gallagher with Hogan, Toney, Eisa as not good enough. Only Marquis so far who would be a 'maybe'.
Hogan is a quality player.

I’d love him here but the dollars will no doubt prohibit.

If there is even the remotest of possibles, he would be my #1 target.

Hogan is a quality player.
Sharp yes.
Clarke yes.
Joao and Reach yes.
Grealish and Snograss yes.
Donaldson, when he's taking his goals

Hogan I just don't see it, I'd hate for us to sign another grafter of unseen work.

Think he would be a great option for us. He’s a big target man who seems to have some pace.

He’s young and hungry and has done it before in the championship. Last year was a bad one for him but maybe CW can bring it out of him.

Hogan has done it before at Brentford and I think CW would get it out of him.

A strike force of Sharp / Clarke / Hogan / Gallagher would be excellent for us.

Duffy / Holmes and maybe Brooks in behind.

Swap Jordan Rhodes for Gallagher and I’d agree that would be a pretty good strike lineup for Wilder to select from.

I thought this was just a bad joke, didnt realise people were serious.

The Jordan Rhodes obsession is far more prominent and embarrassing than the big striker obsession.

Gallagher's younger, better technically, a better all round player and probably even has a better recent goalscoring record.

Thats all true, it's a non-starter (before you even consider his wages.)

I share your embarrassment

Said my bit about all these names we're being linked with, I hope Wilder surprises us again with a set of blind side signings.

Ladies & Gentlemen.

Cannon and Ball are officially prominent posters on this, our humble football forum.

We are not worthy :)

Not overly enamoured with any of these potential signings.Hogan is limited physically, and not very good at holding the ball up.I think if we played him with Brooks and another supporting we wouldn't be able to get up the pitch. If he's are only striker signing it could limit us tactically. He's more of the big man, small man type who plays on the shoulder. His movement is very good, either when playing on the shoulder, or positioning himself in the penalty area which are both pluses. This line up would limit our ability to play 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 and put unnecessary emphasis on Clarke to recreate last season (if we went two up top).
Gallagher's more interesting - particularly if we sign him permanently or with an option to do so. He's quick and quite tall, with a footballing pedigree. The fly in the ointment, for me, is that I've seen him half a dozen times and the game has just passed him by.I would also question whether he has the physical capacity to successfully play the one up top role. Height alone does not prove he has this capacity. We need the Championship Drogba/ Diego Costa. Technically sound, decent in the air, capable of linking the play. Must also be able to be involved in passing moves, and quick enough to stretch a defence. Can play on his own or with a partner. In other words: rocking horse shite.

We are signing 2 strikers according to CW.

We are looking/have offloaded : Donaldson / Lavery / Hanson.

The 2 new strikers are to be better than these. The new players may or may not go straight into the first team but they are there to give us a better squad.

Players like Hogan etc who I think would be an unreal signing seems to be not fancied here. He’s here to supplement our squad and if he is better than our 33 goals partnership last season then we know we got s good player. Same with Gallagher etc.

So it looks like two up top then. Hogan/Sharp for one place; Clarke/Gallagher/Hugill for the other. It makes me think that the Marcus Maddison
link has no foundation (unless Brooks is off).

No chance of either Abraham will either fight for his place at Chelsea or be loaned to a lower table.premier league side. Preston aren't gonna sell their best striker to an immediate competitor and don't need the dosh after selling Hughill.

CW won’t change the system that’s got him two promotions in 3 seasons and a 10th place finish in the championship.

He changed it at times last season, notably bouncing day and Elland road.Good sides always have formation changes in their armoury. You don't have to play it every week, or even for a full game.

Yeah he changed it to put Duffy in the Duffy role from the bench. I know what your saying but we will be same formation with the occasional tweek.

Not to the extent which you’re making out. At Hillsborough, Brooks played just behind Clarke, other than that it was the same formation behind them.

He switched Brooks to the right and Duffy down the middle in a pressing system. We started off with 5-3-1-1 in a counter attacking system.
It caused a bit off uncertainty defensively and cost us the overload for the pig's second goal. We took control of the game shortly afterwards though.

Th fundamental difference was the reversion from high press to counter attack.Chalk and cheese when compared to the previous matches. We did similar at Elland road to get the winner.
