is what Blackwell is, when at the time he know's the fans have turned against him big time, he has the audacity to claim in the last programme that he is the most successful Sheffield United manager ever.
Judas v John Harris! Judas v Dave Bassett! Judas v Neil Warnock! Even Judas v Nigel Spackman!
Fatwell, you have fallen on your sword big time, and you are a dead man walking!!!

aaaaaaaand breathe out again!

Sorry, been away, but pleased it has been actioned. Judas and Phil Brown are on a par with each other!

Either a Pig, or someone from Bladesmad. I've read his style of post before somewhere ;)

Don't think Blackwell 'claimed' anything did he? Did he write the mentioned article?

The fans have turned against him?

Not by the pathetic turn out after the Cardiff game calling for his head.

Some fans maybe but not all fans, and not the majority, not yet at least.

I think there's a difference in turning against the manager in the sense of thinking he's lost the plot - which a fair few fans do - and standing in the car-park like some kind of gurning chimp.

Nothing against those who did protest - entirely up to them, no matter how silly they looked - but there are a lot of fans unhappy with the status quo who wouldn't lower themselves to such a display. Maybe there are some who'd be interested in something a little more organised, but 30-40 youths with their hands down their pants isn't an appealling gang to join. Doesn't mean they don't want a change in the way things are done.

In defence of the gurning chimps, we may have had to suffer a bit more of Robson had they not took a stand.

However in that instance everyone but McCabe knew the guy was useless at getting results, whereas the situation is somewhat different with Blackwell.

I'm not getting at the people who protested, more those in particular who protested after the Cardiff match...

I mentioned this programme article in a previous thread !
I just think it was a pathetic attempt by the club to try and demonstrate that given some stats they could prove that Blackwell was a good manager.
Unfortunately it came following two of the worst performances of the season and it was too bloody obvious even to a blind man that the club were rallying around the manager possibly at the request ' demand of the chairman.
I found the article particularly crass as the obvious stat missing was the fact that Blackwell has not and never will manage the Blades in the top tier of football whereas all but Spackman,Bruce and Robson had at least one season amoungst the elite!
I would have had far more time for an article by McCabe stating that Blackwell would not be sacked whatever the outcome of this season because he has been trained to sit up and beg, trot out the chairmans diatride and basically stick two fingers up to the fans if they object!

Yeah it's a disgrace, he's only the second best manager we've had, how dare he say he's the best.

Think he is better than all that you've listed, results speak for themselves.

The words Tunnel Vision come to mind
Blackwell is not in the same class as John Harris, Dave Bassett or even Neil Warnock
Harris and Bassett got us into the top tier of football and kept us there on little or no money Selling our best players to survive and mixing it with the best of them
Don't make me laugh Blackwell is way down the pecking order!

.......Blackwell is way down the pecking order!

Indeed he is way down the pecking order as you say. He's not a bad manager, he's just not one of our greatest. Time alone means that he's not had long enough to be rated like that.

But why is he a Judas? Has he ever sold us out for thirty pieces of silver? Not last time I looked. Leaving to further his career is hardly an act of deep betrayal.

no, he did what every player and manager does under the same circumstances.

The Blackwell haters would do well to at least offer praise where it's due. That way their rightful moans will be heard. Blackwell's W/L/D record with us is to be commended. His style of play isn't.

Eactly, he gets results and almost did get us to the top flight. i cant understand all these people stating as if it was fact the he could never manage us in the Prem as he very almost did. Youd think we only just survived relegation last year.

As for tunnel vision feiry, i think thats a case of the pot calling the kettle black

In all fairness, he did dump us for Leeds. It's not like it was just anyone. It was dirty, dirty Leeds. And at first, I believe he just went as an assistant didn't he?

He hardly sold us out though. He had a falling-out with Warnock, he didn't sell Christ to the Romans. Nobody died.

Come on fella. So did Deane, Edwards, Morris (I think?). It matters to fans, not players and managers. Every United player would sign for Leeds right now if they doubled their wages, let alone if they were a league higher.

What about the biggest name to go to Leeds, Tony Currie? Nobody calls him Judas, do they?

Am I reading this right? Are you claiming that Kevin Blackwell has been a better manager for Sheffield United than John Harris, Dave Bassett and Neil Warnock?

Is there more than one John Harris that's managed this club then? The one I know will be spinning like a bloody top now and quite right!

:blink::loopy:

Ive re-read this post 5 times and still cant believe it.

I'm not talking about the rightness or wrongness of calling him a Judas, just that it's not just that he left us for a bigger and better position.

Firstly, they may have been Prem, but he was only going to be a number 2 there anyway, and secondly this is Leeds we're talking about. I'm not saying that it would or should have necessarily had any effect on his decision to go, but it's always going to be used as a stick to beat him with.

Don't get me wrong Basset and Warnock are legends and I prefer them both to Blackwell but statistics state that Blackwell is more effective, i.e. won a greater percentage. Someone posted on here the actual stats the other week and Blackwell was second, can't remember who was first, maybe John Harris, he's before my time so can't really comment.

You can't just say he's crap because you don't like him.

He left us for a club in a higher division than us. How is that not bigger and better, at the time? Don't forget that he's a football professional, and as such will always have one eye partly on the chance of a "bigger and better", especially the wage packet, move.

"You can't just say he's crap because you don't like him."

There is a huge difference in defending him against people saying he's crap (which I didn't) and making a claim that a couple of seasons managing in a very mediocre second tier makes him a better manager than some managers who actually acheived things at BDTBL.
