Do you know if any of these people/companies you have mentioned have or have not given anything to charity?

It may well be that for every tin of soup fans give they might put in 10 but might not want to make a song and dance about it

Yes, and maybe they have them delivered by fairies riding on unicorns.

Not when they are training they don't and don't forget it was this government who got rid of the bursaries for nurse training thereby putting them in debt at the end of their training.

I went to uni got in shit loads of debt then lived off benefits for about 7 years while I started a business. I can't imagine they've got less money than I had and I was no where near needing food banks. What's the difference between nurse training and uni?

We are supposed to be something like the 5th richest economy in the world and we have bloody Food banks.

Pre 1979 (what a crap year that was in so many respects) most homeless people in Sheffield were known by their name. Nowadays there are so many homeless people you just couldn't keep up with knowing them by their name.

In the 1960's the word 'benefit' was an alternative name for a testimonial game. Now it's taken on a whole new meaning.

We are supposed to live in a democracy and yet just over 2 years ago we were lied to and voted to leave the EU in a rainbow and unicorns fashion that didn't and could never exist and there are those who won't accept the absolute shit sandwich without the bread the government are serving up for dinner and want another vote.

The Prime Minister (whether you like her or not is irrelevant) wins a vote and there are those who still want her to resign. Where's the democratic logic in that?

What a bloody mess we've made of this country.

Fixed that for you.

Probably rent and the increased cost of almost everything compared to wages?

It's like we keep getting told about these poor nurses who need to go to food banks. The basic salary for a nurse is over 22k why the fuck do they need to goto foodbanks? Budgeting lessons would be better
Average salary of an auxiliary nurse is £15k

Because with the crap and disgraceful universal credit benefits they have now the benefits are nothing like they were 7 years ago so it is very unfair to compare then with now. I don't think that you would be able to spend 7 years on benefits now whilst you started your own business, just think yourself lucky that it was 7 years ago and not today. As for the difference between uni and nurse training (actually nurse training now is at degree level) there are better paid jobs available for uni educated people than those available in the NHS for nurses even though they qualify with a degree, most don't do this job for the money, would you empty bed pans, clean suppurating wounds and all the other shit they have to do for their wages, let alone the unsocial hours?

Nurse training doesn’t teach you how to claim benefits for seven years whilst earning money on the side ‘setting up a business’.

Bert can remember the days when you could go to The Lane just to watch the match.
You didn't have to be fighting homophobia, poverty or racism etc as well.

The glory days Bert. Where the only fighting was with knob eds supporting another team!

True, I’d much rather be smashing a tin of soup into a rival fan’s face than giving it to a poor person.

By benefits he may mean working tax credits. Maybe best to ask first........

Which incidentally wasn’t available to my parents generation and those before them. Let’s not pretend that some onbenefits today are better off than some people who work. For anyone capable of work, that can’t be right.

Some, not all before anyone starts huffing and puffing.

My take on it ,is yes there are some people who do need help from the state ,food banks for me is a slippery slope , I and most others go out ,work there knackers off to provide a decent lifestyle for their family's ,to be honest theres plenty of work out there which will bring you £500 quid. a week.,sweep up on a.building site 60 hours a week and you won't need a food bank ,trouble is some people want everything given to them on a plate . a big McDonalds plate ,

McDonalds don’t do plates.

Even after the 6,000 debt they accrue while learners?
22k.
Fucking disgraceful in 2018.
Some parents through hard graft fund their children through training so they don't have debt from either collage or uni ,people forget hard work and sacrifice go a long way

Here is how I see the hierarchy

1. Work, earn money, buy food for you & your kids
2. Collect tax for social security payments so that people can buy food for themselves & their kids.
3. Rattle charity tins & collect charity money to give to people so they can buy food for themselves & their kids
4. Actually collect charity tins of spaghetti hoops & vegetable soup to give to people for themselves & their kids to eat.
5. Give money to people who knock on your door & say "please Phil, give me a quid so I can feed my kids"
6. If someone comes up to to you in Tesco & says "we haven't eaten for three days, please Phil give me some sausages out of your trolley" then decide whether they should eat or not.

I'm clear STOP at 2. The Club are already at 4. And if we don't stop, we're heading for 6 in a few years.
Grotesque

I know of 2 people blagging the food banks when they can afford to eat, both on full disability when there's fuxk all wrong with them. They're better off than me and I work full time. Just allows them to buy more cans and weed.

If it was possible to determine who was genuinely homeless and needy I’d change my ways and give very generously. As it stands, I don’t have much sympathy because I don’t know for sure that they are genuine. It should be possible to give them some sort of ID that would take the doubt out of it.

I was at CDG airport in Paris this week. This young trendy bloke came up to me and asked for money for food. I just looked at him and said no. He was in designer gear, clean shaven and looked fit and healthy.

In London last Christmas on the Underground. The train driver announces, “ don’t give money to these people boarding trains and claiming to be homeless -its a professional scam”.

This is the problem.

My heart goes out to those who have fallen in hard times. It could happen to any of us. But the scammers are doing more damage to them than we can do good. Stop the scammers (or at least reduce it) and the genuinely poor and homeless will benefit enormously.
