All very possible, but can I just say that as we Blades know from experience, having a star player or starlet still around for the first few games of the season means jack, and there's still plenty of time for him to be sold before the end of the month, (not necessarily to us).Just popped back on and can't believe this thread is still on track.
For now Lenny remains a Southend player.
My worry is that he is now demoralised. I guess we will see tomorrow.
Just wished you had offered more money and you would have got a good player and we could have replaced him.
Both clubs and a player have lost out.
That said of we are right up there in January and your looking shaky he may have just sign a new deal.
Best of luck for the season.

That's a very tempting offer Bladesman, but this part of Essex is conservatively Methodist or Mormon and the majority of the Southend crowd attend church on a Sunday and do good deeds during the week. So you see it would be just wrong to accept gifts of that sort, but thanks anyway. Just give us the fucking money, ok? £750k will do nicely, I'm tired of being nice about this. Our final offer, take it or leave it:
Some porno magazines, large box of condoms, a bottle of Old Harper, a couple of those panty shields, and some illegal fireworks, and one of those disposable enemas ... eh, make it two.
That is a good one sir.....not too big like a couple of them on here.

Ok, lets assume that you can only get pennies as there is a shortage of 2 pence coins in Yorkshire. That's 75,000,000 pennies weighing 3.56 grams each. That's a grand total of 267,000,000 grams or 267 tonnes. Wouldn't just be easier for you to send a postal order? After all that's an awful lot of pennies for you to bring down to Essex to spring Lenny boy otherwise, this ain't ebay you know, buyer collects after dosh is paid. mwahahaha!!FINE! Although we will be paying you in 1p and 2p coins mwahahahaha!

Sorry did I not mention our payment plan. The money is to paid in installments over the next 10 years. You should get all your money by 2027.
Also don't think about cutting Ryan up and sending him in bits. We will only accept a fully assembled footballer.
We have signed incomplete players before such as James Wallace and we won't be fooled again.
Why would he do that before the transfer window closes? We won't put another bid in before 29th August, unless someone else comes in for him.Seems to have gone cold this one. Expecting him to sign a new contract anytime now

It was tongue in cheek. Reminds me of the Ricky Holmes situation, pretty sure he said all the same thingsThat comment doesn't really make any sense.
He's already recently announced that the reason he wants to move is because he wants to play at a higher level (seems fair enough) but says that whilst he's under contract at Southend he will give his best to that club.
Leonard might have his heart set on playing for Wilder and is willling to bide his time.
The only possibility he'll sign for Southend is
1: If us and Millwall buy an alternative midfield and inform his agent we are no longer interested or
2: Southend gain promotion next season and offer him massive wages next Summer.
I reckon we'll make a final bid and probably get him just before the transfer window closes.
Alternatively we'll get him in the January transfer window at a lower price.
Worse case scenario is we get him next Summer on a free.
It's all about player power these days, so it all depends what Leonard wants. He's no longer a spring chicken and he's approaching his prime, so he needs to be tested in the bigger leagues sooner rather than later.

Thanks for the good wishes. I agree that Len should play at a higher level and that he should do it sooner rather than later. Blackburn tomorrow will be the first indication of his intentions with us this season. Our crowd aren't daft and if they think that Lenny is coasting they will let him know. My worry is that certain sections of our support may have already made up their minds that Len's not going to try. However that works out, it can't do Lendog any good at all mentally. In a way I'm a bit pissed off at your club for turning his head in the first place and then not bidding high enough to prise him loose. Yeah, I know, that's football and you are entitled to do that, but it still pisses me off as our most influential midfielder of the last 4/5 years is now potentially going off the boil. I'm also a bit pissed off at our chairman for not pushing you to bid more. That said, I'm convinced that his sights are set on the play-offs minimum this season and a high performing Len can only further that goal.If he stays at your place, I predict you won't have the same player as you did last season. Its time he moved, for his career progression, whether that's to us or not, he clearly wants to move to a Championship club. Ron is perfectly entitled to get the best fee for him, but this could backfire like it did with us and Michael Brown when he wanted to move and didn't and then left in the January the season after and was no where near the same player and we had to sell him for a knock down price because he only had half a season to go. I wish you all the best next season but I think you are taking a huge risk here.

He scored and should have had another in the second half. The appetite was there and he certainly didn't give the disinterested bit any air time. Even better, 1500 Blackburn ruffians went home thoroughly pissed off and unable to comprehend they had been taken royally to the cleaners. We were that good today.
