I must admit I was surprised at that result, great win for you guys. Not so good for us in our potential pursuit of Leonard but it'll no doubt go to the wire on this deal.

Sorry just read your reply now. I get why you feel its annoying that we bid low first - as Southend would see it - but to be honest as a buying club that's what so often happens for that very reason. The bid is usually rejected but then the player knows that there is interest and if the move appeals it means he might express to leave etc, which often drives the price lower. You know all of that anyway but at the end of the day we have our ceiling, Southend have their valuation and if the bid is not deemed to be good enough than you would expect a decent pro to keep wanting to play well. If he doesn't like I suggested he might not then that's the risk you obviously think is worth taking and by the sounds of it, based on today, he still has played well.

Darren Smith on Twitter has suggested that Romaine Sawyers is a possible alternative to Leonard for us. He was on the bench today, and they seem to have signed Mokotjo (number 12 next to Woods in midfield) to replace him. So it might be viable. Not that keen on him myself. Think he's a bit over rated.

Well actually it does. As a result of your mirror appearance Ron says no and Ryan puts in a top drawer performance for us. At least we now know why he is still at Southend. Carry on mate it works for me.;)

If Leonard is the mobile, box to box midfielder with a proper engine that he's described as, I'd want that sort of player here after what I witnessed on Saturday.

Lundstram isn't the player to bring on to get at the opposition and disrupt their play based on that one 15 minute cameo. (I know). Competition for Coutts, fine, not a midfield destroyer.

Brentford were quicker than anything we saw in League 1, we can only assume others will be too.

I feel like Leonard, or a player with his described qualities is a necessity in the long run.

I think you're under estimating Lundstrum. He came on in not his normal position. He can obviously put his foot in and how do we know Leonard will step up?

He looked okay on Saturday, if a bit sluggish, but that should improve with games. Maybe he'll flourish and offer some much needed steel when we need it.

I still think we're lacking someone athletic like Leonard though.

I'm sort of reading into his words that Lenny is staying, at least for the time being. So unless something changes, it's time for me to withdraw back to the Southend board. I know I've tried leaving a couple of times but I've been drawn back by the jazz of you Northern monkeys. It's been a real pleasure to be abused and bantered here, and being able to use the occasional swear words without a swear filter cutting in, which happens on our board, has been heaven. I Mod on our board so it's been great to be a child and say what I think without caution. Ok, that's that done. Have a wonderful season in the Championship (I am v jealous) and for god's sake don't come straight back down as I want to abuse you some more when we get promoted this season. And finally, in true Blades style fuck you all. I will never be a Blade but I will follow your results.

It's been a pleasure reading your posts. Nice to have an opposition fan come on here, talk sense and accept the banter. I for one wish Southend all the best. Finally I'd just like to say....
