Can't say I remember most players we sign. 99% of my opinion is formed from reading reviews from fans who watch them week in week out.

The guy looks very promising from what I've read, would be an exciting one and I hope we get it over the line.

efl72 rumours are saying he wants to go to Millwall now because its closer to where he lives, so who knows! but Fuck him its that's the case.
107 followers, I'd take everything they say with a pinch of salt, same can be said for 99% of twitter sites tbf

I was reading this on the BBC site yesterday, about Udders and Reading.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40021067

Seems that, despite their tiny Rotherham-like budget, Udds still managed to shell out their record transfer fee at the start of the season - £1.8 million to buy Christopher Schindler. Not only that, but that fee was only the 43rd most expensive one in the Championship last summer!

A sign of what we're up against.

"£1.8 million to buy Christopher Schindler."
I wonder how many sports writers had their fingers crossed hoping he wouldn't score:
'Schindler's Miss' just begging to be the headline?

It doesn't work, assuming you are attempting a play on "Schindler's List".
You see this quite a lot in the tabloids when they do plays on words that aren't close enough to the original, or use obscure references that hardly anyone gets ("The kids are alright" on any story vaguely involving young people, for example).
"Schindler's missed" just about works but even then is not great.

Meredith's a decent signing for Millwall. But if we wanted him we would've got him. Stevens will be better.

They're signing Tom Elliott from Wimbledon too, a decent free transfer. We should've had him in January instead of Hanson.

I don't think Leonard would choose Millwall over us. He seems like the type who'll put football reasons first.

I hope you are right but how can you possibly know anything about him, or his motives? You speak of him like you know him personally? Maybe you do?

'Seems' suggests I don't know him doesn't it. They say he has a great attitude and he seems to have worked hard and consistently improved over the last few years. I'd expect someone like that to make the move that makes most football sense. Millwall are garbage, and it's not like he'd only be a squad player here, he'd be a starter most weeks.

But you're not considering his domestic situation, not saying this is the case but
Maybe he's like Matt Le Tiissier and puts personal happiness above money and professional challenge and loves it in the Kent area. Maybe he's besotted with his girlfriend who loves it being so close to London and her family. Maybe his girlfriend. Is putting pressure on him to stay near London?

Playing for Millwall is still the Championship and even if Millwall struggle if he's any good then he'll still get a move if and when Millwall are relegated.

Maybe she loves him sooo much that she'd go anywhere for him...

Let's just wait and see shall we

I don't know whether you're deliberately missing the point, but you're certainly missing it. Listen to Tufty's most recent interview on the "Football Heaven" website. All will then be clear. He won't pay more than he thinks a player is worth.

I'm not sure he could possibly make this any plainer, having made similar statements every time we bid for a player, yet people carry on ignoring him and talking bollocks.
I'm not missing any point. Wilder is hardly gonna say I'll pay anything to buy a player is he ffs ? It's all part of his bargaining stance and stinks of the fact that the promised championship investment is nowhere near as much as we might expect otherwise do you really think Wilder will let him go for the sake of a couple of hundred thousand ? Actually why did I ask that as you clearly do as Wilder won't pay a penny more than his valuation ...which incidentally will be rising as the competion increases !

If we sign the lad for more than 700k we'll see who has got the yellow stuff all over their face ! If we don't sign him we will move onto our second choice because Southend aren't going to sell their best asset on the cheap when there's a number of clubs after him.

Sussed him....the most condescending poster on here...if you disagree you've either missed the point or don't know how it works
For most of last season up until about early February every time anyone like me pointed out our record against the top six was not brilliant and most of our success was against lower teams I would get rubbished with the "fact" "no one will know the top six until the end of the season". Talk about missing the point........and guess who finished in the top six.......

You have a point.

It's not spectacular is it. Although from February onwards we comfortably thumped all comers including Bolton, Millwall and Bradford... should have beaten Scunny at home and went away and beat Southend and Oxford. In fact we probably struggled most against Oldham, Rochdale, Coventry and Chessie... so I don't know what that tells us

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but Bolton are now also interested, as well as yourselves and Millwall (I've seen them mentioned). Neither have made an offer yet, as far as I know.

Once again with us, very slow business in the transfer window with regards to getting players in.

Bolton are broke and facing another winding-up order....hard to believe they can afford to bid anything?

It's often the way of it mate. Whatever happens with Leonard will be to most club's and player's liking I imagine. It's a merry-go-round, so Wilder will go so far and see what happens. Sounds a good player, but Wilder wil have a list if this one doesn't happen. Good luck for next season.

Bolton have a transfer embargo, don't they? They can't pay out transfer fees, as far as I remember. So they may be interested but unless he signs on a free, it won't be happening.
It couldn't be someone making up stories, could it? Just lumping the promoted clubs together, and claiming they're interested, to try to get a bigger offer...As if, eh kids...

That's the one. I have heard that if nothing is agreed by tomorrow, you will pursue other targets instead. I heard that last week, but from a fellow fan, so the source isn't very reliable.
Lenny is an excellent player, would fit into your side well but is settled down here with his partner, who is from the area. That appears, at this moment in time, to be the only thing working in our favour as Ryan hasn't publically said anything.

Thanks mate, League One will be much tougher this time round in my opinion. To be honest, I didn't expect us to finish where we did. One point off the playoffs and would have finished 6th, had Millwall not scored their late winner against Bristol Rovers. All the best to you as well, some decent away trips for you lot this season, I think you'll easily stay up, then will build on it and in two or three seasons time, you'll be challenging for the playoffs at the very least.

Enjoyed my two trips to Bramall Lane the past two seasons, mainly because we didn't lose! But in all seriousness, very nice ground, nice supporters, decent pubs, great away day.

Yep, you can't minimise the pull a domestic relationship has on a player. Sometimes it's not always about money, which in itself is refreshing to hear. One thing Chris Wilder is full on about and that's a player's desire to play for the Blades. He knows the money will take care of itself, but what he wants most of all is the knowledge that a player comes here for the right reasons, which in his case is to do with playing. We're a well run club, and since Wilder's arrival our aspirations are more focused that they've been for a few years. We'll see how things pan out next season, but while we're certainly not arrogant about what will happen we're looking forward to the season beginning.

Wonder what they will write if they find him drunk?

Doesn't matter to you Blades fans but this is now a big summer for us. Confirmed in the last half an hour that Will Atkinson, one of our three current centre midfielders has left to join Mansfield. Should Leonard leave, we will only have one CM left.

Hang in there, The Shrimpster. If anyone knows what it's like to be asset-stripped, it's us !

For my money you should give up the Sarfend, do an JonnyRed(WCFC), accept the inevitable, and begin preparing for the long commute to Bramall Lane next year :)

And thanks again for your Leonard updates, btw. We're not all condescending twats ...

Wilder has changed my outlook on transfers now.
It really used to wind me up if we lost out on a player i liked. Now i just think, sod him. If he didn't want to come his heart obviously wasn't in it and without the passion and desire that Wilder would have demanded then he wouldn't have been the right signing anyway.
I forgot that players are human, I just thought the bigger the name the better player we were getting. It seems stupid in hindsight but it's taken CW to show me the light haha.

Yes you're right...
It doesn't matter.

Kind posts Shrimper, having been to Roots Hall many times including this season it fills the senses to go to a decent place with a tidy ground with real fans and atmosphere who get behind their team. Too many psycho and plastic quiet fans elsewhere. Good luck this season.
