A Club from a higher league come in for one of mighty Gillingham's players and make an offer and they don't just drop their pants and say, " ok .... we can't stand in your way so you must be sold and we can't possibly hold out for a higher fee or say NO" !!

Naaaah ...... that cannot possibly be the case. We all know that when a higher league Club come calling you HAVE to sell because you have no choice ....... that's the rules of the game !!

I think that you know that's not the case mate. He would be doing a similar thing to Jordan Slew by moving to Southampton, because like Slew, he is still establishing himself at League One level, and if he moves to a Premier league team or even the Championship, he'll not get regular football, whereas with us he will, its just right now he's out of the starting line up because of bad decisions on the pitch like the red card. I wouldn't want us to sell him, unless its for a major fee like £4m plus because that would represent a decent fee for a player who could go either way. Only the club know what his personality is like and whether they feel he has the right attitude. He seems like a lot of young players to me in terms of attitude, with a look of arrogance etc but that doesn't mean he is.

If he goes, he has to go now not within a week of the window when we can't buy anyone in! The only way the sale would be good is if we do get to reinvest in some decent players, but that's never happened before when we've sold a decent player we invariably just pocketed the money because we've needed the money! We're told we don't need to sell our better players now unless stupid fees come along, and Adkins should be telling Che that his best place is with us not in the under 21's with Southampton etc, but no doubt Che's agent will be just seeing pound signs for himself and his client right now! That might be cynical but too many players just go for the money.

Just to give last year's winter transfer window some consideration...

– having done a bit of number-crunching nearly half of all deals involving clubs in the 4 divisions were done in the final week of the window
– the dates of our deals last year were: Jan 6 (Butler), Jan 22 (Ports), Jan 23 (Coutts & Freeman), Jan 24 (Beard), Jan 30 (McGinn and Holt loans), deadline day (Done, McGinn free transferred, Long loan).
– when the emergency window opened, we shipped De Girolamo, McGahey and JCR out

When Adkins tries to manage expectations on when business is likely to take place, he's just reflecting the reality of today's transfer windows. Certainly not panicking about the lack of movement so far.

I'm not panicking just yet but I do fear that we've got specific targets and the are probably clubs better players rather than players that are not required from the Championship that would be easier to get like Edgar and Sammon were. I'm sure there are some decent players at the likes of Wolves that aren't required there, but could do a job for us and improve on what we have even if its just a loan rather than the endless pursuit of Dan Burn!

Seen him myself plenty of times, and I`m baffled too.

Never scored less than 2 every time i`ve seen him, only small, but an incredible ability to find space, and finish.
A great signing from the mighty Lepton Highlanders.

I would treat that as at least 50% bullshit. Daniel Bentley is attracting the interest of PL clubs at a far higher estimated value and no one is going to pay £1.25m for Jose Baxter. I really do wish those that start these rumours could try to be a little more realistic.
