Poor quality opposition but you can only beat whats in front of you. Hamer looking sharp and dropping deep to hit long passes. Rothwell and Reidewald pedestrian in midfield.

Chong took his goal well but should have had another as should Ohare. Cannon anonymous. That team had no height up front or at the back meaning we were lacking at set pieces. Baptiste tidy but his lack of inches alongside an equally small Tanganga means we will struggle at the back. We have to bring in 2 tall dominant centre backs as a bare minimum.
said the same on another thread we need 2 centre backs in or were in trouble

I know you are one that can't stand Wilder, but even you must realise that he is totally hampered with owners that don't want to spend any money.
Owners have spent a small fortune, including in both Jan windows when wilder was in charge.

He’s got everything he asked for. It’s why he lost his job last summer.

Tell you what...

1. Baptiste getting game time is a very welcome surprise.

2. Chongeh! We need to play to his strengths to get a tune out of him. He's a fast, willing dribbler but because he dribbles in a very basic way, and without any finesse touches, it makes him look worse. He's played better in sides that look for runners in behind (as we've seen today) or when he can pick the runner out himself.

3. My beloved COH. He should shoot like that more often!

Brilliant goal by O Hare, clearly the squad needs to be strengthened but an enjoyable afternoon.

When I see people commenting on pre season friendlies and how it bodes for the regular season it reminds me of this quote from Peep Show:

“The first thing to note when discussing the business secrets of the Pharaohs is an acknowledgement that their era was so completely different from our own that almost all cultural, political and particularly business parallels we draw between the two eras are, by their very nature, bound to be wrong”

Friendlies do not tell us anything we didn’t know previously particularly against inferior opposition - why don’t we play against stronger teams

What we saw and we already new is that our squad is very poor apart from the players who are still likely to be sold for the money that we need such as Hamer and Peck and maybe Seriki.

As we have already seen any new additions will likely be players from lower leagues or bottom of The Championship players past their best and loans

They will all be on much lower wages than the current lot which in some ways I don’t mind but it will reflect the quality we bring in

I cannot see us as anything but a mid table bottom end Championship team for the foreseeable future with the very real possibility of a relegation battle at times

It all sounds negative but that is the message The Owners and also Wilder seem to be sending out to us

We got dry bummed by Stuttgart pre season 3 years ago. Swings and roundabouts. It's about getting minutes into the legs and getting new signings to integrate into the team. The opposition isn't really that important IMO. Losing to superior sides can drain any confidence.

But that game showed us what season we was in for and the glaring issues we had in the team, that sadly wasnt rectified.
