It is a slight concern but you only have to look at how long it was before Lavary got an extended run in the side . After being bombed out at swillsborough he was no where near where CW likes his players to be in terms of fitness. I'd read the same into the situation regarding Evans . CW just won't expose him too quickly imo

I did think about Lavery as I was writing it, though wasn't he signed after preseason? It's not an overly encouraging comparison at any rate fitness-wise, given Lavery was barely able to start a game in that initial period up till Christmas, and then ended the season early due to injury. We were fortunate that Clarke returned to full power around the same time, as in the end Lavery wasn't missed. A fit Evans has plenty to prove at this level. His chances of succeeding aren't going to be helped if we can't get him fit in time for the season's start.

Moore was stretched off after about 10 minutes.

Looked pretty innocuous, no challenge from a player.

He looked uncomfortable but not in too much pain. Looked to me like he probably pulled a muscle.

Does this mean Toy town are battering us?

No it's been a fairly even game with both teams having 3 or 4 half chances in the 1st half.

We've probably knocked the ball about better than them but we've been quite casual and not shown much urgency.

Although let's be fair it is a friendly and you can tell most of the players aren't giving 100%, it's just a workout.

fairly even so far, but we aren't playing nowhere near as good as we can, plenty more to come from us.

Has to be said we haven't been great again tonight. Bit worrying that only one of our new signings has managed to get in the starting 11. Need to spend more on 2 or 3 quality players rather than squad fillers.

The first half reminded me of many of the performances under Clough, neat and tidy but a bit slow and safe lacking urgency.

We're playing like it's a pre season friendly with the result not being so important.

Shit....it is a pre season friendly, so that's why the players aren't busting a gut ha ha.

We're kicking towards the Blades end second half so let's see if we turn up the tempo.

Nah Deano you have to realise that our transfer policy is unquestionable ! I'm deeply worried that we look like starting the season with only one upgrade on last year's first 11, I think we are going to find out that he step up from division one to the championship is harder than many think

To say these were the worst championship side by a country mile last season, it's a bit of a reality check to those who think we'll be high up the table with the current team

Agree Rotherham look a decent league 1 side. We look as though we have the extra quality but are coasting along in 2nd gear.

We've just scored a well worked goal. Own goal but their defender couldn't do much about it.

Attendance just announced as 7,396 with 3,674 away fans from Sheffield.

Friendly or not, it's our strongest 11 vs a league one team

AJ got dropped in sparring, Usain Bolt has been beat in minor events, Van Gerwen lost to a pub player in practice. All world champions when it matters and all need to build up and try different things in training and practice events.

It's all about preparation. History shows that friendlies mean very little.

Its often the case that teams that win loads of pre season friendlies have poor starts and teams that have a poor pre season can start well in the real games.

2-0 now.

Brooks gets the ball edge of the box and does a delicate sand wedge of a pass out to the channel with Enda Stevens making a run.

A bit of a mix up between their keeper and their defender as Stevens toe pokes it home into an empty net.

Some on here make testicles shrivel. Grow up lads, it's the same every season..pre seasons are to suss the squad out and build an understanding in a semi competitive environment.
