the problem is you play it at midday you've got at least 10hours to manage afterwards.
you play it at 745 and you've got the prematch piss up, and 10pm-3am to deal with.
anywhere inbetween and you have a shit sandwich.
so the question really is why does our derby need more policing than Liverpool or Manchester?
is it simply that the hatred here is stronger that those 2?
are their derbies more frequently played so it's took the sting out?
is it, as fans, our fault for not been able to attend a sporting event without wanting to cause a bit of aggro?
i don't doubt that some coppers appreciate the overtime, but they don't sanction it.
I'm sure the top bod who has a dwindling policing budget would much rather spend a few hundred grand on solving crime or chasing paedo's than babysitting a few hundred hoolies. - but what does he do?
don't beef up the numbers, it kicks off and people shout where were the coppers, beef it up and get slaughtered for it.
maybe him and McCabe should share a glass of wine and compare "can't win" stories.
