Just coming back from serious ligament damage from end of last season so the loan is probably to prove his fitness. At 32 is he a long term option and as a central midfielder who is he going to replace, Macca or Doyle?

I would have thought we needed some genuine width in the side with pace - not another central midfielder, who maybe a decent ball player but doesn't really change the dynamic of the team.

We have seen that Gallagher plays too central and is not providing any width. Consequently we are not stretching teams enough and have to attempt to batter our way through the middle or lob some balls into the mixer and see if we can pick up seconds. Never going to change these draws into wins at that rate.

Someone in the Matty Phillips mould for a month or so would be ideal. Not saying as good as Phillips but something similar - is that pie in the sky?

"He's a very good player, technically superb. He's had a bad injury and is doing the right thing, dropping down a level in order to prove his fitness. He's not particularly fast and plays centrally".

Sounds a bit like Gallagher to me so maybe 1 in 1 out?

Like I say, he's very like K-Mac. I worry that maybe he's injured which has pushed us to sign Wellens.

Don't know too much about him, but do know he hardly scores goals. Can't seem him having much pace. Thought our priority was goalscorer and wide player(s) with some pace....
