The difference would be a more level playing field at the expense of less quality at the clubs of those relegated. Where’s the downside exactly? It’s designed to protect those in the top division should they fall out of it. It’s in no way designed with the interests of the Championship in mind.

No I know it's designed to support the premium clubs that get relegated. But without it the gap between championship and premier league would be even bigger than the ridiculous difference it is now

Some journo said that Scudamore had presided over “a great sporting success”. Actually the PL has been a great business success but hardly a sporting success. PL teams do not (and never really have) dominate European football tournaments. It has failed to provide a decent England team. Last season it was hardly a riveting competition as Man City had won the League with many games to go and there was virtually nothing decided on the last day of the season. Pretty boring really.
