Is it 3 out of 3 pens brewster has missed for us now? Or 4 out of 4? I remember two shoot out misses before the miss on Saturday but seem to think he's taken another

I've been disappointed in him period.

I was disappointed he missed the penalty, as if he'd potted that, I'm sure we would have gone on to win.

I was more disappointed in the superb cross RND swung in, which he was nowhere near. Billy would have been on the end of that. There's no real anticipation of where the chances are coming from, and that's the main reason his stats are so dismal. We all want him to do well, but I think Liverpool have taken our beans and flogged us an old Milker. Wilder got 100% mugged off and we are watching £23m disappear down the drain before our very eyes.

It's a strange one with brewster if he hadn't cost £23m from Liverpool I don't think he'd have played a 1st team game this season.

Hes not got the ability to score the two goal osula scored for Derby the other day for example and I think jebbo offers as much as, if not more than brewster despite being much younger

Very harsh, he hit the inside of the post. It’s the same outcome however you miss I get that, but as far as misses go I’d rather see that than a fluffed pea roller that the keeper easily collects or one with absolutely no accuracy like the one you have compared his to

A fluffed pea roller down the middle would have been a goal

I take your point, but there’s no excuse for a professional footballer missing the target from a penalty.

I’ve never missed the target and I’m effectively shite.

🤣🤣 Put you in front of 30k people in the last minute of a game full of tension & frustration. Similar thing happened to Bamford yesterday, I think Brewsters pen was much better than his but same outcome.

Yes there is. They’re humans like the rest of us. We’re not perfect, we make mistakes and plenty of professional footballers miss penalties. Not usually as badly as fucking Waddle did in 90 WC, granted.

Ronaldo messi totti ronaldinho ibrahimovic
Have a guess what all these players have in common ?

Good guess but no
They have all missed penalty's
Which according to several posters on.here means they.should not be allowed to play professional football again.
i remember seeing Ronaldo miss a certain goal from about 12 inches off the goal line he put the ball into the upper tier of Bramall Lane,i was agast.

Do you genuinely think that the only reason people are disappointed in his performances is because he missed a penalty?

I'm just referring to people who have said anyone who misses a pen should never play football again
There are a few ,check the thread

Also didn’t Roberto Baggio miss a penalty in a World Cup Final and cost Italy the trophy ?

I get that people are disappointed with Brewster and everyone is entitled to their opinion. While ever he is pulling on a Blades shirt and on the pitch he will get my support.

UTB !

I wonder why they do miss then?
Reason is, they have to try and belt it somewhere or the keeper 100% saves it.

A pro keeper would save every single pen that most people hit.

A pro player should be able to score a penalty with either foot. If I was manager (and yes it should happen 😉) if anyone missed a penalty would stop their money. For clarification, I mean missing the target, not the keeper saving it. I have said this for years, missing the target is unforgiveable in my book.

Not that he's been given much of a run, but I'm still not clear at which point Brewster jumped ahead of Jebbo in the queue.

Remember when the latter ended the PL season scoring vs Everton?

Since that point Jebbo got sent to Burton for a successful loan spell at a point where he was effectively ahead of Brewster at the end of the prior season.

That 6 games spell where Brewster scored 3 goals isn't half doing some heavy lifting. That is starting to look like a false dawn. He once more looks lost as he did for a fair period.

Jebbo is 3 years and 4 months younger than Brewster incidentally.

And he’s looked it when he’s got on the pitch.
Jebbo and Osula as nowhere near ready for us and are clearly behind Brewster whenever they’ve had their chance. As you say nothing wrong with that they’ve a couple of years development to do.

Can't deny Jebbo hasn't kicked on this year. He's been a bit of a victim of circumstances really, hasn't he? He would have been best served staying a full season with Burton and then arguably building on that with a similar move to that of Osula, to a top League One team.

Hopefully he is well grounded. All talk of moves beyond his ability can't have helped.

Unlucky that he's lost half a years loan due to our injuries and then also had to stick around this first part of the season too. It's dog eat dog though. He's had a few small chances to stake a claim but hasn't really done much and would be best, injuries permitting going on loan in January.

My concern with Brewster is he is back to showing a real lack of anticipation in games and seldom looks a threat. He really lacks composure. He's had a few efforts where he's just lashed at the ball and who was convinced he'd score the penalty? Not me for sure. Looks well short of his 23m investment. Hopefully soon enough he can replicate there 5 to 6 game spell before injury.

Not a pop at you personally but when he hit the post with that pen on Saturday my heart sank because I knew this thread would be full of smart arse comments and just when I thought the lad might be slowly turning a corner his confidence must be rock bottom.

Apologies for using one of my dating analogies again.

The effort is there, you find that the harder you try, nothing seems to work. You just need a break, something to click.

That penalty goes in, he cracks on and blossoms.

You just need a break....

Granted not professional (good god barely Sunday standard) but I used to play in goal. I've faced penalties and taken a couple. When you are in goal, it feels like a chasm. But there was no pressure as they were expected to score. So if I stopped one, happy days.

Yet when I took them the goal looked like a postage stamp.

All psychological of course as obviously the goal is exactly the same size.

Brewster was unlucky, a fraction away from being a fine penalty.

You're drunk if you think Jebbo offers the same as Brewster, and I'm not necessarily a fan of Brewster.

Brewster can finish. No doubt. He's got a great shot on him and plenty powerful. So why the fuckin ballet dance piss around running up for the penalty? It's all fuckin poncey piss around shite. Who coaches that? It's probably for Instagram. When we played football as kids we were told to put laces through it.

Watch a video of James Beattie taking penalties, not James pissin Jordan.
