It was bad, if you miss a 24' wide target from 12 yards out, that's poor. He did what he always does for us which is panic and snatch at his shots.
If the aim was to simply hit the target then yes, but you make it sound as if he rolled it down the middle then it’s a better penalty.
You have to beat the keeper and he did everything he should it was just a cm out.
He didnt snatch at it at all, he was really unlucky.
Hope he takes the next one.

I know what you're saying but a penalty rolled down the middle has a chance of going in, a penalty off-target does not.

I definitely think he bottled it, silly little run-up and hit far harder than necessary. It was similar to that one against Birmingham I think it was, he was put through at the Kop End (not an easy chance he should buried or anything) and he just hit it straight away with setting himself properly.

Whenever a penalty taker takes a silly little run-up it's a sure sign that he is going to fuck up

Any penalty taker should make the keeper work at the least. If a keeper makes a save fair play to him. Whether Brewster hit the post or "did a Simmonsen" matters not. He missed what is a very large target from a very short distance.
Very harsh, he hit the inside of the post. It’s the same outcome however you miss I get that, but as far as misses go I’d rather see that than a fluffed pea roller that the keeper easily collects or one with absolutely no accuracy like the one you have compared his to

Agree with this. It was the complete opposite of a "snatch." He struck it cleanly and put it almost exactly where he wanted it to go.
Good power, it had beaten the keeper, it's within a whisker of being one of the best penalties we've seen for years at the Lane.
I hope we stick by him and he takes the next one.

No GK in the world would have saved it. He's hit it so well into the corner of the goal, out of GKs reach. As others have stated, 2cm left and it's in. I think it's less than that. It hit the inside of the post and flashed across the line.
If it hits the outside of the post, i could understand the abuse he's getting.

If he repeats that penalty, 9/10 go in.

GK has gone the right way and got absolutely nowhere near it

Turkey are apparently watching Brewster and want him to switch allegiances and play for Turkey, he has a Turkish Cypriot mother. He would be daft not to if he wants to play full internationals.

Agree with that.
He's not going to be a full England international.
He's got a lot of potential but his ceiling isn't as high as that, in my view.

I'm struggling to see how those two things go together! They must be fucking desperate. :D
Not a pop at you personally but when he hit the post with that pen on Saturday my heart sank because I knew this thread would be full of smart arse comments and just when I thought the lad might be slowly turning a corner his confidence must be rock bottom.

Stop coming on here and talking a lot of sense.

Best hit pen by any of our lot apart from Bill. If you hit a pen that hard it doesn’t need to be very close to the post. That height, pace and a foot to the left will never be saved. Shearer and Kane are prime examples. He’ll be spot on next time.

I would have written the same thing pre Saturday.

Credit him for having the balls to take it.

But overall, he's just miles away from what we need, IMO. We've had our pants removed here, royally.

I've been disappointed in him period.

I was disappointed he missed the penalty, as if he'd potted that, I'm sure we would have gone on to win.

I was more disappointed in the superb cross RND swung in, which he was nowhere near. Billy would have been on the end of that. There's no real anticipation of where the chances are coming from, and that's the main reason his stats are so dismal. We all want him to do well, but I think Liverpool have taken our beans and flogged us an old Milker. Wilder got 100% mugged off and we are watching £23m disappear down the drain before our very eyes.
