In my view, all the circumstances of Bouncing Day made it a bigger, more humiliating defeat. It’s certainly more topical and meaningful than a game nearly forty years ago with all the participants now in care homes...

Oh, that Bladey Inferiority Complex. Guess we’ll still be singing a silly song about a game we lost?

Led 2-0, daft twats equalise and bounce and are HUMILIATED by Duffy and the Blades in attendance.

Forever more, when they squeal, the question to be asked is.. "Where you bouncing before Duffy scored?" (Wouldn't bother expecting a coherent answer)

Of course it means more, I know it, you know it, the pigs know it, and so should every Blade.

Up The Blades.

Let’s have a reminder;

Was meant to be back at work today, couldn't really be bothered so booked rest of the week off and taking it easy..

What a great way to start an extra days holiday with such viewing. Every time there's a new pleasure.. Just heard an "Aw fuck it" as Duffy pulls the trigger

Where you bouncing before Duffy scored?"

I have a lot of pig mates. Met them in a pub about a week later. Walked in shook hands etc.

Pig: you’ve been unusually quiet about match
Me: result says everything
Pigs: grunt grunt fk off
Me: to be fair I did have 1 question
Pigs: what
Me: well I just wondered if you were er we well still bouncing when our 3rd went in.

I’m a glass half full sort of Blade most of the time but I really don’t like to talk about how much we’re going to win a game by, especially against the Pork. Football usually comes back and bites you in the backside like it did the overconfident Pigs at the Sty, and local derbys are even harder to call. We’ve proved it ourselves time and again that it’s the underdog that can often rise to the occasion and win on derby day.

We as Blades fans should treat the game as though they’re world-beaters, verbally tear into them and really be the 12th man. If we are ahead and coasting with 20 minuets to go maybe I’ll think about getting 4 or 5 but not before. UTB.

Sorry.

Unless we manage a victory by a clear 4 goals to Nil (so 4-0 / 5-0 but not 5-1) 1979 will never be truly avenged IMHO.

I’ve been waiting a while ............

UTB

I dunno mate. I think if we beat them 8-1 it would put everything to bed (We can dream eh?)

My 2p-worth...I'm far too young to remember BD1979, and I'm thankful for that. I personally think being 3-0 up at half time was possibly the best chance we will ever get to truly smash them out of sight...I remember biting my fingernails down to the knuckle at 3-2, knowing that if they equalised, that would have achieved the same mythic status for them.

I'm expecting a tighter game on the 12th than the last meeting. If we play like we can, even Coutts-and-Brooks-less, we should beat them. Right now any win, even a 90th minute 1-0 off Stearman's arse, secures bragging rights, puts us 15 points above them in mid-January (don't forget we'd get less points than rotherham as they romped the league), and secures ANOTHER double over them, something they have only seen once in their lifetimes. I'll take that personally (but I'd still prefer to annihilate the grunting swine to the tune of 5 or 6 nil).

Well looking at their injury list a win may be on the cards.

Bannan 8-10 week out hip

hooper - dunno yet but another hip

fessi - soon I hope but not in time

hunt - hip again

lee - hip and I’ve not heard owt

and many more

what with all hip injuries do they all need a zimmerframe to run around with we’ve got such an aging squad. Some fresh youthful blood needed I recon.

But a wounded animal (pig) are normally at their most dangerous

As we seem to have drifted back to the 20th century in this thread. here's an account of two Blades at two different derby games;

Game 1. September 1951 Blades 7 Owls 3 - my dad was at that one
Game 2. December 1979 Owls 4 Blades 0 - I was present
So that balances out for me
Both in the past, what matters to me is season 2017-18 and it's just great
In the words of Henry Ford 'history is bunk'

Let’s have a reminder;

Alco, thanks, just relived one of my favourite memories and you know what? every time I watch those videos it gets better and better and duffys goal looks more impressive every time, thanks for reminding me, may just have a quick look again before I go to the match next Friday, can't have to much of a good thing can you

I remember Terry Curran being covered in gob and coins thrown at him. Hated that ground.
