Last night showed how we are million miles away from competiting financially with championship clubs.

On Saturday we will only have 1 available centre midfielder. CW made it known he was keen for Leonard but we didn’t push the boat out enough.

We can rectify this now in January give CW a war chest.

We’ve got Basham back to RCB and Baldock back. Let’s leave them be. I’d still rather Wright in the middle too.

But with regards to Fleck, just ask Duffy to play a little deeper and get Brooks in there.

I’d rather do this than either lose what Basham beings to RCB or end up with say Carruthers in over Brooks.

This is what I’d do given the current predicament.

If we’re going for 3 points each time, do or die, there’s not much point wavering from that.

As an additional comment, a couple of weeks rest might be good for Fleck. He’s played a lot of games.

When we had a midfield of Fleck-Coutts-Duffy fair enough, they were/are brilliant, when the option is Duffy-Lundstram-Curruthers (or throw Brooks into the equation), then it's not going to work, as has been proven in the last 4 games. A point was in the bag v Bristol until Carrathurs replaced Basham, until January when replacements can be found then Bash has to go into midfield.

Go with Hanson up front too. We need to be hitting the big man from the first minute, and no more than three passes allowed per move...

Brooks played in Flecks position against Walsall in the cup in a midfield of Lundstram-Brooks with Duffy ahead.
probably not suited to it but he has played cm this season whilst being left footed so we dont lose the balance without fleck, hes also dangerous in wide areas and can cross so could work the same overload Fleck does on the left hand side at times.

We've had Carruthers on the books a long time now without giving him a good chance of making an impression in the side, if that chance isn't now then you have to say it never will be.Give him a go and if it doesn't work out, look to offload next month.

Given we are leaking goals, I'd be tempted to put Bash in there and bring Jake Wright back. Samir must play a part at some point though, as someone pointed out, we will lack a bit of creativity with the Bash, Lundstrum combo.
