Cannon - cut our losses

As mentioned above, you could try to play him anywhere but......his first touch is absolutely shocking, the ball goes to him, loses it.......move breaks down.....possession lost....on the backfoot again, he's another Brewster....all Blades gave him time.....but time after time he keeps letting us down.......get rid!!...

ps......anyone seen Tom Davies.... because he's another wastrel......
Think Tom Davies is over on the Peck thread whipping up the hard of thinking to scapegoat Peck so no one realises that this utter wage thief is still here!!!

Let's be right the kid doesn't want to be here, and I don't want him here. Sympathy for playing out of position, but ffs put some effort in. Get booked, sent off owt but run your blood to water for the cause. The only time he's looked anything like is with a strike partner, but we don't play that way. The worst signing we have made for what we've paid. Just fuck off Cannon 😒

Who the fuck actually scouted this player and thought he was a footballer ?
That person needs sacking.
Is it the same person that scouted Gbric and thought he was a goalie ?
Who is actually watching these players for us ?
Any fan can tell you after one game they are just not fit for purpose.
Absolutely bang on the money 💰 pal

He's a number 9, young and has done well everywhere else so far.
Play him as a striker and don't shoehorn him into a wide player, he clearly isn't a winger.
Change formation and put him in a front 2, I believe he will flourish with a dance partner.
Has he done well elsewhere? His Stoke stats are heavily padded by that one weird game against Portsmouth when he got 4. Nothing else suggests he’s anything other than a lower championship forward.

Why buy or play a player, who can’t do what is asked of him.
The issue is players are comfortable playing a style of football that suites their style of play.
Unfortunately he is not a player that fits in a style that the Blades play, so not a good buy
Surely clubs do there research before making football decisions.
Think the board and this club really have to do a self analysis of itself then plan.
In some ways they have done this with a style of play they would like the club to play.
Unfortunately they haven’t considered what it takes to achieve this.

For me we have to get rid of this lad. Unfortunately because of his price tag, we’re going to keep trying to make something out of him.
I simply cannot see a single attribute that you’d look for in a forward and if we could get even £1m back, I’d rather we do so and move on without him.
I genuinely don’t like to single players out but he just offers nothing and it would be better for him to move on.
Maybe Stoke still think highly enough of him for a cut price deal or player swap?
He was identified by the owner's AI system so I think we're stuck with him. Apparently he was £4 Mill with add ons of £6 Mill but we wont ever need to pay these as we didn't go up.

Has he done well elsewhere?
Preston - they loved him.
Leicester - they wanted him to stay and were impressed with him even though he was under used.
Stoke - they were gutted when we took him.

So yeah, there is a deffo a very good player in Tom Cannon, we need to find a way of getting that fine tuned for us.
Not my random thoughts/opinions, just from what other clubs fans said on Roy's view after we signed him.

No he wasn’t. Wilder wanted him in the summer but he chose to go to Stoke. He became available in Jan and was offered to wilder again.

Don't let nuance and a balanced view get in the way of a pitchfork protest...

What attributes does he have as a striker?
Pace?
Strength?
Good first touch?
Awareness?
Incisive running?
Dribbling?
Anticipation?
Decent shot or heading?

I’ve literally seen none of these - and they’re absolute basics for a striker.
I’m all for giving players a chance if they have the ability but I just don’t see it.
He’s obviously had a purple patch at Stoke but I don’t want to see us waste our time waiting for him to show us some glimpse of talent. One showed much more today when he came on … and we’d be better developing him and others who have obvious positive attributes.

There is no point in playing Cannon unless he’s in the poacher role - playing with a striking partner. Same as Sharp. Sharp would have looked crap on the wing.
Actually ahr Billy could beat a man and put in a decent cross now and again.
Cannon seems to lack pace and ball control skills at the moment..

He also appears to be the single stupidest thing to appear on a football pitch. Like, there's a higher IQ to be found in the chalk lines than there is in his noggin.

Ideally loan him somewhere (anywhere) even if we have to pay 90 per cent of his wages - no-one is going to buy him.
Not his fault that modern football has put him in a position he shouldn't be anywhere near but for his own sake and the club's he needs to leave SUFC as soon as possible.
Morecombe springs to mind👍

He's being played as a LW or RW. The only people at blame his performance so far this season are:
  • The board for not backing RS to bring in decent players prior to our dramaticly bad start.
  • RS for playing him at LW /RW rather than alternating with TC or playing 2 up top.

RND has already been made a scapegoat for the boards and RS's poor decisions, let's not blame Cannon for this mess

Ask the fans at Preston, Leicester and Stoke.

Or maybe Roy made most of them up??

Genuinely have no idea what the rationale of bringing him in was? Just ego flexing trying to butter up the fans back in January? They claim to be sensible business men but let egotistical led emotions or a het up Sheffielder dictate they spend an obscene amount of money on a rank average striker.

This isn’t Selles fault, it’s a symptom of stupidity. Best thing for the lad would be getting him spin off to Reading and praying to the heavens he does somewhat alright so we can recoup some funds.

He's one of the worst ,was going to say footballers but that would be a disservice to anyone that's ever kicked a ball .whoever signed it off wants sending to specsavers

It is not his fault that he has been played out of position, but as a professional footballer who has previously played in any position he must be able to understand the basics of what he is supposed to do.
How to control the ball, make runs and most of all put effort in. Unfortunately all of that is sadly lacking, the first half was awful to watch and I subsequently concentrated on watching him for two or three minutes, whether he had the ball or not. Needless to say, with it without the ball, the bloke is clueless. Whoever decided to sign him needs a p45 and if it was a COH signing and they are insisting that he is played as AI tells them he is a footballer then they need to hand over the recruit reins to someone else
