I am staggered by the hardball line which the ticket office have just given me on this , which is a strange new strategy - makes me wonder if Wilder's going on 3 May.
In previous years , there has always been a discount deadline date , usually around this time.
Then there has been a period when the laggards like me could think about whether to renew (at full price) in the knowledge that their seat would not be released for sale to others until a final renewal deadline , for example , end of May or June.
But for the club to threaten regulars with the loss of their seat unless they renew by the first week in May seems unduly harsh.
It used to be the case that the Club would identify some bullshit transfer targets "pour encourager les autres" , but now they are pointing a gun at your head and you have to decide whether they will or won't back Wilder RIGHT NOW !
When they can't even comment about who might own the club , let alone resolve it.
If they match last years 22,000 ST sales , they'll be doing well , in this climate of conjecture.

I've just had my first ever text message from the club, after having a season ticket holder for almost 20 years: "Blades Fans season ticket early bird deadline extended! Make savings when you renew by 2nd May, 5pm. Visit"...
I can't quite afford it at the minute and the difference is negligible compared to paying by finance. I think a lot are looking at the advantages of waiting...

One thing I'm disappointed with is that I rang a couple of weeks ago to renew my ST but I also wanted to change seats, they said I can renew (which I did) but only for the same seat and that I can change my seat once they've gone on general sale.

I'm left thinking why should a current ST holder potentially have to lose out on a preferred seat to a new ST holder once on general sale? Surely I should have the priority over any new supporter especially when I know the seat I want to move to hasn't been occupied by a ST holder this season!!!

You normally can move to an unallocated seat now, but obviously there's more availability once the people who aren't renewing's seats have come available. Which is why you would have to wait for those seats.

Danny_Blade Ive done this before, if there is a non season ticket seat that you want they can change before, but I’m guessing that the seat you want is a st held seat so they can’t release it until after the deadline.

You normally can move to an unallocated seat now, but obviously there's more availability once the people who aren't renewing's seats have come available. Which is why you would have to wait for those seats.

Yes that's right. I want to move but no availability for what I want together in the places I'd like to move to. Even in seats that are often unoccupied. I've renewed where I am to get the discount. Roll on 3rd May so I can swap.

Youre wrong Swiss , I have looked things up from previous years - in fact last year there were 3 stages .
I know because I have often waited for the FINAL deadline so as to grab preferred seats if they were not renewed by their holders.
Never have seats been potentially forfeit if not renewed on the first discount date.

It’s not case closed though Swiss, the season hasn’t even finished yet and they are expecting us to pay for next seasons already. The deadline should be atleast a month or so after the season to give those loyal enough in previous seasons enough time to save after a long season and that still gives those that haven’t had a ST before over two months to get one.

I'm in this position too, Foxy. I have a centre South Stand season ticket and have been trying to buy the seat next to me as a season ticket for a couple of years, for my lad. The seat has been unoccupied for every single home match for the last 2 seasons. Whoever has the seat didn't even turn up for the Derby.

Have spoken to the ticket office staff on countless occasions about it but got no joy. I just get told that the seat has been sold as a season ticket and isn't available.

On the basis that whoever has bought the ticket is presumably using their ticket to get in and then just sitting somewhere else in the stand with mates or family, rather than just not attending at all, I have suggested to the ticket office that they might usefully contact the season-ticket holder and ask whether they perhaps want to change their season ticket seat. Unfortunately, there seems to be no interest in doing something ostensibly quite simple that would result in an additional season-ticket being sold, though.

There is a good explanation for the change in policy.

I was a new season ticket holder on the Kop last season.
All the best seats had all gone, there wasn’t much availability for 3 seats together,
so basically I’m in a relatively poor seat on the front row.

They told me to wait until the deadline, then if some don’t renew then I can change to better seats.

So I’m hoping some fans on the central areas of the Kop don’t renew. Unfortunately it’s first come first serve.
We had record season ticket holders last season.
It gets harder to keep everyone happy due to demand.

1. An "early-bird" deadline to encourage early buying by offering a discount during May;
2. A final "Renewal" deadline (at full price) , much later on in the summer , by which date ST holders had to renew their seat or it would be open to general sale.

In contrast , this year , with ownership in doubt , with Wilder unhappy , with no idea if the club is moving forwards or backwards , the 22,000 existing ST Holders are being threatened with the loss of their seat if they don't renew before the current season has ended.

You might think you are right , but unfortunately I give judgment against you.

And don't be telling me to "be prepared" , mate ...... try reading the post and checking the facts yourself.

My personal take on the NEW hardball attitude is that the Club has got cocky (due to having a record number of ST holders) and is taking them for granted.

They might discover , to their cost , that such arrogance may not be tolerated.

Especially when their silence is eroding everyone's confidence.

OK so the point is that when they announced the Season Tickets, all info was there - i think it was a month ago.

I just had a quick check through my emails and the email i got from SUFC in 2010 states:

Season tickets can be renewed – deadline April 17

So its really not a new thing.

Last season, it seemed that they were doing everything to entice new fans in, this season they seem to be wanting to get those new fans tied in.

Personally your points related to Wilder, the board, the ownership seem a little baffling. We were down in league one for six years and you're suggesting that this is a bad year for the club so they should bend over and let you pay a month later?

I hope that they don't give you a too heavy sentence in Court, in which case you won't need your season ticket anyway

Seems to be a fairly widespread issue, for some reason.

The whole row beside me is marked as being season ticket holders, yet there's regularly 6-8 seats in that section, if not more, that aren't filled. I know of others who have had similar situations with seats not being used next to them, but being displayed as season ticket holders, when they look to have family or friends move next to them at the end of the season.

For your information, they’ll be 3 Kop seats available, as we are moving over to the Westfield Upper...not exactly centred but they are to the left of the goal, Gangway:C Row:FF Seats:73/74/75.

Can't you just buy one in the same stand and use the spare seat next to you if you know it's a season ticket holder but never used? There's the risk that one day he/she turns up but possession is 9/10's of the law according to some.

I've got my daughter her 1st ST this season and struggled to get a seat with her on the Westfield. This seemed strange as though popular there's plenty of seats free.

The problem is they hold ST seats til x date, then people renewing but wanting to swap to the corner can only pick the free seats. Meaning availability until a "deadline date" is pretty awful, causing logistical nightmare.

I suppose they have to enforce a date some how so to avoid the logistics of moving everybody about. I was told I had to pick a seat for my 4yr old or lose the early bird price. Luckily they have put us in seats "reserved for corporates" in the Westfield corner.

I've just called to see when I can move my dad's seat. They said that renewals need to be done by tomorrow and there's no set date as to when the non-renewed seats will be available. She said to just keep an eye on the website.

Same position for me too. 2 seats directly infront, been unoccupied for 3 years now.

Very good seats though, maybe they have them for corporate prizes? Maybe they just sit elsewhere?

Another thought is that they are tickets for U/18s that they just buy each year so they have loyalty points for when they're old enough to go. <<<<<<<< that will piss many off on here
