How many times have we gone into the play offs as the form team and failed , regular season form is no guarantee in the play offs !
Yeah but there’s form team and then there’s the all conquering Forest - the greatest team to ever grace a football field or at least the greatest since the 79/80 Forest side.

Couldn't give a shite whether they go up or not they mean nowt to me unless it's at our expense. Wonder if their season will mirror our 2003 season? Great cup run(s) and play offs final...finished up with fck all.

I don't know whether it stings or not, but do you think they care what people call them, just for earning a wage for their families..? Stick and stones..
I'm not talking about putting food on the table I'm countering your argument about them not caring. I disagree with you.

I worked for Barnsley Council during the 1984/5 Miners Strike and the puzzle was why the NUM didn’t call for a national vote. It was thought they wouldn’t win the vote because the NCB (the Tory government really) had set NCB region against NCB region such that the more productive mines like the Nottinghamshire ones were unlikely to vote with the low productivity mines in the rest of the country to strike. But that vote was never called so we’ll never know.
A national vote was not called because 3 previous ballots in 1982/3 had all voted against a strike. One month into the 1984 strike in Sheffield at the delegate conference AS had the opportunity to amend the rules to a 50% + 1 majority decision from the existing 2/3rds for a strike. He didn't because as you say the NCB led by McGregor had developed a productivity bonus system that was particularly beneficial to Nottingham and Welsh areas and he feared a repeat of the previous ballots where there were 55-61% results against a strike. The strike by that time had also gone on longer than previous ones as the Tories had pressed the NCB to build up coal stocks in anticipation of industrial action and there was no prospect of Thatcher capitulating like Heath did. AS thought other industry unions would come out in support and paralyse the country but he was disliked by the more moderate union leaders for his communist sympathies. With no national vote taking place they had a reason not to endorse it as official industrial action

Tactically AS got it wrong he should have gone in Winter rather than the start of Spring but events took over out of his control with the unofficial strike at Cortonwood leading to a domino affect. Sadly it all ended in recriminations between the NUM and AS over financial irregularities years later.

An intelligent man who was blinded by ideology but he was right about the list of closures I know because I had access to it in later years, thats another story.

My Moms side were all miners. My Dads were from Nottingham, nothing to do with the mining industry, they don't have fond memories of Yorkshire folk abusing them and calling them scabs as they were driving their cars to work. They're Pies not Florist so will be delighted if they fail to go up.

A fascinating part of industrial history that impacted on some of the work I was doing in the 80s/90s.

As for drawing a line under it there is still bitterness in the old mining communities as shown by one visit I made some years ago to a distant elderly relative in Rossington. She saw a neighbour across the road and said we don't talk to them because they're scabs who worked during the strike. I said what the 72/74 strikes? She said no the 1925 one!

Hopefully Florist will be blighted with the curse of the third placed team.

QPR and Bristol City currently bottom 2 in the form table (last 6 games) and none of the teams 3-6 to play, can see us finishing in the play-offs.

Like others, I'm hoping Forest pip Bournemouth to 2nd spot. They're the ones to avoid in the play-offs.

I think we'll finish on 73/74 points and it should just be enough for 5th/6th spot.

lots of juicy head to head battles. between those around us and our only games v contenders are QPR away and they are in a slump and. Fulham who will be up by the time we play them
We just have to stay calm and win what should be the games we can win.
if we take it automatics beyond reach we can focus on getting 10 /12. points needed to ensure a play off spot
8 or 9 more can sometimes be enough with so many head to heads between the other protagonists

Correction: the Clough years puts them just behind us.

Exactly
Before Clough they were a nothing club, and since Clough they've been a nothing club.
We've been in existence for 133 years and I'd guess we were better supported than them in 100 of them

I care not for any of our opposition.....

It all boils down to us......stereotypically.

But it's fact. Game by game, 3 points up for grab every single time.

We aren't a top 2 team and it all comes down to every single game now.

I have updated my table of remaining fixtures. I have added in Millwall as they are now ninth and probably have the easiest run in

I'm slightly amazed how we are firmly in the mix considering our injury list. That and the mixture of bad luck and/or bad officiating would have me not being suprised in we were sat in mid table. The lads and the staff have worked wonders to have us where we are currently and its well deserved. Had we had that bit of luck (or not shot ourselves in the foot) during some games (quite a few tbh), or had wrong/terrible decision(s) by the ref/linesman not been made the league table would look much better from our perspective (that's regardless of the injuries).
Come on Blades. One last big push in these remaining games. If we can make the play offs we're more than capable of beating any of the teams that are currently in the play off places. When we've been on our game teams haven't been able to touch us in this division (just asnt happened often enough)

In our village there’s still a house and everyone knows it as Scab house, although by now it’s probably had 2 or 3 different owners.
“ Ah if tha guz past Scab house”.
“ Tha nuz, darn bi scab house”
40 years on. He was one of the “ paid” Brown envelope boys, allegedly the original owner.

On a side note
Since Notts Forest got a injury time point against us they have played 5 league games 4 of which have been at home.

Reading
QPR
Coventry
Birmingham

They have also beaten Blackpool away.

Now fair play 15 points out of 15 is an excellent return and you can only beat what's in front of you, but they were hardly the most difficult of games.

They are being over hyped but to win 5 on the trot at any time in this championship is not easy-
We have on paper a chance to get enough points to ensure a top 6 spot but as always who knows
Fulham at home could be easier because theyll be relaxed and alreay promoted whereas Reading still have to get a few more points for survival
so theres no gimmes

.we have played some pretty shit teams recently and failed to win or turn up.

All hinges on sharp being fit we don't have another striker that can score goals.

I’m sure that fans of the other clubs in contention will be poring over the remaining fixtures too, and I would expect that the majority of them will be of the view that we have a very favourable run-in compared to everyone else.

If we can’t comfortably get what we require from strugglers Reading, and desperately short of form Bristol City, Cardiff and QPR, there’s something wrong.

Not at home we haven't of which 4 of Forest's last 5 have been, and didn't we get another bum ref decision against Blackpool away.

I hope Bournemouth and Forest do battle right up until the end of the season, leaving one of them tired after playing more games than any other club and dejected because despite the efforts of all their players that they have on loan it meant about as much a popping bubble wrap, nothing. Meanwhile we seal a semi secure spot in the playoffs with a couple to go, get people fit, fresh and ready to smash the f**k out of any team that turns up to the lane (Middlesbrough style).

Its a dream, but we can all dream.

Edit - We also play Bournemouth in the final getting a penalty after MGW gets tackled on the edge of the D and a second one for a blatant dive in the box. Banners are created on a national scale poking fun at a manager whos only jobs have been to take richly backed teams expecting promotion to promotion, simply saying “Karmas a bitch Scottie”.
