The R Word....

Surely not?

Stranger things have happened in football.

R meaning relegation or R meaning Robson.

If it's relegation, I'd take it. 15 out of the last 16 seasons in the same division, I just want a change of scenery, whether up or down!

relegation: a possibility?

Do we really think we can stay up this season? We are in freefall!
we can't start thinking we are too good to go down because it could happen..
what do you think?

There are too many teams poorer than us.

Play like we did today and return to even a half decent defence, and we'll be fine.

Nah I predict a nice mid table finish back to where we belong in this league.

A good few seasons of mid table finishes ahead I think.

I don't think you should post again... Of course we're too good to go down!

We played very well today. It's just sods law that the time we try to turn the corner we come up against a very good in-form team.

The 4th goal was worthy of winning a game at any level in my opinion.

oh its a possibility alreight..............

a glimmer of hope today ....nowt esle.

'cheap as chips' has to go !

Go on then, who would you put in charge? Don't say Steve Coppell, he wont join us. An O'Driscoll wont because i can't rember the last time we took a manager who was actually still in work??

Thought we played well today. Unlucky.

Did you see Harpers goal? Or Quinns? Bet you didn't!

No. Like the Pigs.

With the quality we have, we can win and it seems that Killa is creating a hole in our defence. I believe quality will out so see no need to predict constant failure.

I'm not predicting failure, but Scunny and Blacpool were winnable yet we let 6 goals in.

If all we are dealing with is possiblity, then obviously automatic promotion and coming first are also a possibilities. But I guess being positive is not what a true fan does. Overall with most of the games to come the quality we have in the squad will see us do well this year. I don't understand why folk seem eager for us to do badly, but each to their own.

Peterborough won today against scunny.... could all change.

Hope this is our christmas/January blip come early!

Never thought i'd say this but we miss monty the ball is getting into the danger area to easily we have no one to win it for us. We also have no replacement for him just shows how bare our squad is.
For those who say we to good to go down no one is if you are in the bottom 6 after christmas you are in a relegation fight simple as that.

We shouldn't be getting thrashed like this though, blip or no. The defence should have been drilled tighter than an anorexic's belt loop aftr the Ipswich effort, but to be torn asunder again and again four games later, it makes you wonder what they've been working on!

And whats the excuse for scunny and blackpool?? Injury's??

I am happy to slate Blackwell at any given opportunity and although the trend is downward in general, there is not a chance of us going down. Zero possibility.

Whilst I agree that there are far worse teams than us in the Championship I am sure that Norwich and Charlton also thought that last year!
How can any sane person say we are too good to go down when we have performed like we have against Scunny, Ipswich, Donny, Blackpool, Coventry, Swansea, Cardiff and even Wendy.
We are letting goals in for fun, schoolboy defending, little or no influence in midfield and not scoring gilt edged opportunities when they come along!
Looks like relegation form to me!
Today they played much better than of late but, they were second best, lost the game and conceded four at home - Carry on like that and no matter how many people say we are too good to go down lets look at the table in December!

Couldn't agree more Fiery Blade,
shipping 4 goals at home, its a disgrace. Fans only clapped at the end because its a slight improvement on some of the crap we've seen this season. We all know at best we'll finish mid table so a change of management is due & get someone in who can get the players playing
some entertaining football!

I trust you are keeping well bladesman3.
Very disappointing season so far but I had not considered relegation as an issue, but certainly do not see us going up this season or even the next few seasons if i am honest.
To many loan players, plus injuries and not convinced re some of the signings.
We will be here for some time.
No doubt like you we would love to be proved wrong.
Still making the journeys Bladesman3?
UTB

bit of a stupid thread really ,of course relegation is a possibility it is for every team in the division until they are mathematically safe

I sometimes get the feeling that judgements on our past performances and anticipated performances to come are based on nothing but perception viz "like Scunthorpe and Blackpool" or "after Newcastle". The inference being that merely being Scunny or Blackpool they are, by definition, rubbish and should be easily beaten. Whereas the Newcastle are mighty and unbeatable. Well so far it goes like this Blackpool have beaten Newcastle and Scunthorpe have beaten Newcastle. So if we are to believe that Blackpool and Scunthorpe are rubbish surely the next nine matches are winable!

Despite the improved performance today its VERY concerning that we are conceding so many goals. Kilgallon needs dropping sharpish as his head is just not in it. but who can we replace him with when we have so many injuries?

If we loose heavily to newcastle then i fear for the club this season. The players confidence will be totally shot. Im hoping we can spring a suprise but i cant see it.

Looking at everyones comments either negative or positive it doesn't matter how you play if you are letting 3 and 4 goals in per game - you will be relegated- Simple !
Blackwell will not be sacked, we have to accept that so the defence must be tightened up I would keep Bennett in goal - he did nothing wrong yesterday and then he must decide his best back four. According to his interview Geary, Naysmith, are nearing fitness so they must be considered Killgallon is very suspect and after yesterdays comic capers Morgan raises some questions. The others include Davies and Fortune I would play both of them v Newcastle - if not ship them out and get some real defenders.
