Released List

I'm fed up of people including Cuvelier on the released list. He's got two years left on his contract and is out injured until December. The only way he would leave would be if we paid up his contract - that's not going to happen. No club is going to buy him until he's proven his fitness and that would be January at the earliest.

Taking sheffielder 's list, I've put the names in bold if I agree that they'll leave. Some are subject to bids.

Released (out of contract unless stated)
Westlake
Hill
Johns

Miller?
Ironside
Whitehouse
Smith
Hodder
Porter
Eyre
McGinty (2015)

Sold
Brandy (under contract) £50-£100k and sell on clause
Taylor (under contract) £50-£100k and sell on clause.
McFadzean (under contract) £free with big sell on clause

Staying
Cuvellier (under contract) will stay
McGinn (under contract) will stay
Agree with all that and also think Cuvelier could play a big part in future if his fitness isnt affected by the lay-off

Looks like a long haul for Cuvelier to me. He did his injury on 18 January but didn't have his operation until the end of February, not sure why.

He tweeted last week that he did his first jog last week.

Taking into account LJF, MIller and Diego's recovery periods, I wonder whether he'll play at all next season. Hopefully he will but it's terrible bad luck and a difficult task to win a place in the first team midfield.

You can be fed up all you like. My actual words were 'Just having a quick look at the players who won't be with us next season and those who probably won't'

I am not saying Brandy, Cuvellier or Taylor etc are going to be released. I was saying that I don't think they will be playing with us next season whether that they be sold or loaned out. Obviously, I didn't realise that Cuvellier had that far to go with his rehabilitation so I will remove him from the list and the 2nd Miller for Loughborough.

Unfortunately I think it will and he only has a contract till the end of next season. He was my pet cat when he signed, however just not worked out for him.

Fair enough, my post wasn't aimed at you in particular: it was more that yours was final post which broke my resistance! Cuvelier signed on a three year deal so is contracted until June 2016; we paid a decent fee for him and he's out injured.

I'd agree that he'll be loaned out next season but probably for the final stages of his rehabilitation. He's good enough to fit into Clough's masterplan though and I hope he'll prove some doubters wrong (not including you in that!).

We simply can't have players just because they are good blokes etc etc,we have to get players who are good footballers and for football reasons only.Like iv'e said before, its a results based industry, not a night out with the lads

The argument with many isn't that they are nice blokes but that people feel they can do a job in a squad. People love to ride in on the "you support mediocrity" vote when actually its just a difference of opinion. I have always said if Clough thinks it right I would suggest 99% of blades will support that. Doesn't mean we wouldn't be sad to see players like Porter leave because we feel they could have done a job. I haven't seen a single post that says we should keep anyone because he is a nice bloke by the way. Please point me to one.

Problem isn't getting rid of players, thats the easy bit, its getting better replacements in. If Clough does that then that 99% of Blades will continue to be happy. If he gets it wrong or we don't get the targets we are aiming for then people have a right to say "well perhaps we shouldn't have let (insert name here) go in the first place".

I'm trying not to be funny here, but you have deleted the main points that i made regarding clough getting rid of the shit we have and for that reason alone this doesn't deserve a good reply.

Your an odd one, you reply to say your not replying. Go on I'm sure you can if you try.

I said it didn't warrant a GOOD reply,never said i wasn't replying;)

Oh i tried and i couldn't

I have read it back and I think I have addressed almost all the points you made. Its not a night out with the lads, agreed and no one says it is, its not about being sentimental, agreed and no one says it is, Clough has the balls to remove the "Shit", I don't agree some of them are shit but if Clough says he wants them out then I trust his plan.

My point of criticism was aimed at you inferring that some people seem to think they want mediocre players and want to keep hold of shit players. My counter is we don't and while its a difference of opinion what constitutes not good enough its easier to chuck players out then to get improved replacements in.

Anything I missed?

I said clough must allready have something in place or he wouldn't get rid ,thats what i was implying.
And as for the mediocre players ,i think that point is proved as we are still in this same league as 3 years ago,so we must have some crap in there somewhere along the line.Hope that clarifies the point i was trying to make bladesway.

So sorry to see Hill go, one of the best "encouragers" for the players and the fans. Very good defender. Personally, for the modest wages he will have wanted, I think it is a mistake. He could play right across the back four but I acknowledge he was poor pushing up at full back. Also he is 33 years old but fit with it.

I might sound like a twat but i would take Frimpong from Barnsley. Would be an ideal replacement for Doyle.

We need to be precise & focused & make sure we have 90% of our recruitment done by the end of June.

If Clough can get Frimpong's head right then he could be a real diamond in this league.

As for Hill, can see Wilson signing him for Barnsley!

+1 to saying we should be in for frimpong, as long as he's not wanting stupid wages he could certainly do a very good job at this level

Do we really need another problem child he's hardly played enough football at any level.

Can't see Clough going anywhere near players like that.

I concur that we should try and sign pingpong aswell

Don't mind him as a footballer kev but for me his discipline isn't that good from what i can recolect.

There's a reason why Barnsley don't want him in this division and they know him much better than we do.

“Finance is the last thing we talk about. We’re more keen on characters. If someone wanted to talk about that first then it would set alarm bells ringing. You might read something into that. Of course, there’s a stage when you have to do that but, first and foremost, we want people to come here for footballing reasons.”

"It's not just what they are capable of doing on the pitch. It's what they are like off it, what type of characters they are, as well. That's key and something we always take into account. That won't change. We're fortunate to have a really good group here now. Players who are ready to work hard and do whatever it takes to try and achieve something. Anyone who comes in must have the same approach."

I think whenever a name's suggested, consider Clough's quotes above and whether that player fits. Frimpong would definitely not IMHO.

And this is the way it should be going forward ........ sounds idealistic to some but if they only want to come here for money then they're nowt but mercenaries.
Well said Cloughie !!!

I think if there is one message NG has sent out in his short time as manager here it's there is no room in his team for prima donnas, no matter how good they or we think they are.
He is definitely a one for all and all for one kinda fellow . ..

When did our manager change his name?
