Released List

Yes, he's under contract. I suspect he will be sold or potentially swapped for someone Cloughie wants.

Of course, if this doesn't happen, he'll report back for training and I guess if he shows the right attitude he could stay.

His only other option if he wants to go would be to negotiate a release but I can;t see us paying him to go.
I think we would pay him off if clough didn't want a bad egg in the dressing room but i for one would like him to try and knuckle down and stay because i think he could have a say in our promotion push next season and provide good competition for our wingers, also allowing murphy to go up top, this also meaning we could concentrate on other positions in our squad. He's our player ,rather than pay him off, lets try and get some use out of him.

just seen brandy tweet saying "All the best to @Mhilly6 @jordanhodder @JahmalSmith95 @jasperjohns95 #blades", i presume Jordan Hodder Jahmal Smith and Jasper Johns are all being released along with Hill and looks like Brandy will be staying

Unless Hodder, Smith and Johns have all already tweeted/confirmed that they've been released that means that Brandy has taken upon himself to announce it for them.
Along with half the club's released list before they've made it official.
Wouldn't a consoling, personal text have been a more appropriate way for him to say "all the best" to his friends?

He might not have had any credit:)

They haven't, and neither have the club. Which makes Brandy's tweet a bit of a cunt's trick if you ask me.

Very true but a footballer trying to engineer their way out of a club isn't new.
However, social media makes this kind of cuntish behaviour more acceptable as "everyone's doing it" on twatter!

Personally I don't need twitter, I'm a twat in real life too.

If that is the Paddy McCourt who used to play for Barnsley, we need to get him signed.

That's twice Danny Wilson has binned John Cofie. No surprises in there though McCourt is a useful operator.

That awkward moment when you are released by Barnsley, just a week after this tweet.

Apparently, he fell out with the rest of the squad when they organised a team-building evening at a local karaoke bar but Emmanuel chose to attend the World Table Tennis Championships instead.

There was a right old Frimpong ping pong sing song ding dong

Thought he'd made himself usefull with the cover job he did for harry..

Must have other players lined up allready, bout time we saw decisive management...

Haven't we all wanted this...?? Hard decisions took early..

Matt hill, good luck at barnsley

Just having a quick look at the players who won't be with us next season and those who probably won't. You have to think this would release a minimum of 20k per week in wages

Westlake
Hill
Johns
Miller
Ironside
Whitehouse
Smith
Hodder
Porter (if True)
Payner (loan money)
Eyre
Miller
Brandy (under contract)
Cuvellier (under contract)
McGinn (under contract)
McFadzean (under contract)
McGinty (under contract)
Taylor (under contract)

This would still leave us with :-

Howard (renewed)
Long (Loaned) or Willis
Brayford or Freeman
Collins
Maguire
Kennedy
Harris
Flynn
Doyle
Scougall
Coady (if he comes back)
Davies (possibility)
Dimaio (u21)
Whiteman (u21)
Reedc (u21)
Khan (u21)
Baxter
Murphy
De Girolamo (u21)

Add 2 or 3 attacking players of quality and a few defenders and you probably still be even. You would then have the 18 first team players and the U21's to pick from which Cloughy prefers.

We have finally got someone in clough who has got the balls to release players who have sentiments to the club, but ultimately, are not good enough to get us out of this division,as proved in the last 3 seasons and yet some still aren't happy.

Clough must have plans ,otherwise he wouldn't release them, and to be honest whatever he brings in has to be better football wise.We simply can't have players just because they are good blokes etc etc,we have to get players who are good footballers and for football reasons only.Like iv'e said before, its a results based industry, not a night out with the lads

Miller's on there twice - I'm not sure if he'll be on the released list once! Suggestion from NC when he left was I thought that he needed a preseason behind him before he could be properly assessed.

I'm fed up of people including Cuvelier on the released list. He's got two years left on his contract and is out injured until December. The only way he would leave would be if we paid up his contract - that's not going to happen. No club is going to buy him until he's proven his fitness and that would be January at the earliest.

LoughboroBlade I agree to an extent about Miller but his contract is up in June and he'll definitely get offers from clubs at the bottom of League One and the top of League Two. I suppose it'll depend whether he and Clough feel he's got a chance of forcing himself into our plans.

Taking sheffielder 's list, I've put the names in bold if I agree that they'll leave. Some are subject to bids.

Released (out of contract unless stated)
Westlake
Hill
Johns

Miller?
Ironside
Whitehouse
Smith
Hodder
Porter
Eyre
McGinty (2015)

Sold
Brandy (under contract) £50-£100k and sell on clause
Taylor (under contract) £50-£100k and sell on clause.
McFadzean (under contract) £free with big sell on clause

Staying
Cuvellier (under contract) will stay
McGinn (under contract) will stay

That leaves the line up for the first game of the new season as:
Howard/Long

New RB Maguire Collins Harris

Doyle McGinn/Dimaio Scougall

Flynn Baxter/New CF1 Murphy

Subs: Willis, Kennedy, New LB, Dimaio/McGinn, New WG, Baxter/New CF1, New CF2

Pretty much the side which got us from 23rd to 7th but to my mind we'd need at least two new centre forwards (Winnall +1?), a new right back (Brayford/Freeman?) and a new left back/centre half back up (Stewart?).
