One thing we can be sure of is Wilder & his team will have done extensive backgrounds checks within the world of football from ex players to coaches who know him well to pass comment on his application in training, personality etc.. and if that has come back with a positive enough response for Wilder to think he could be worth signing, that is good enough for me as the talent is clearly there.

The most important physical attributes for that Duffy position. Short distance speed, and strength.

The 'very very strong' surprises me, but the way he talks about him using his body confirms what I thought - he combines those clever, unconventional movements well with his skill with the ball. Knowing how to use your body is more important than strength, but if he's got both that's a very big plus.

I too was surprised when Owen Morrison left. I recall him being very impressive in his cameos. That said he never achieved anything after leaving us so it was the right decision

Terrible waste of talent. I seem to remember he had some demons and behaviour issues. That aside, I thought he was a great little player. Very exciting.

Whilst I agree that he's had and wasted chances when he was a kid, I'm not sure you can say that about the latter part of his career. He's been willing to go to Mexico and Sweden to rebuild his career and I haven't read any bad reports of his behaviour in either place. That shows character and courage, regardless of how relatively pampered the life of a footballer is even in relatively minor leagues such as those. Like it or not, we have to take risks with our recruitment this summer. This would be a calculated one, taken by a management team which has earned all the right in the world to be trusted on such matters.
