Outstanding save at 1-1.
Still not happy with his palm into the middle of the box, which set up their first, but he certainly made up for that 100% with the second half save.

CW: Aaron’s finally joined us after his summer transfer. His sister Sharon obviously stepped in for the first few months this season, but Aaron’s here now.

It was a very good save, offside or not he had no way of knowing, & with the way VAR has been for us I wouldn't stake my life on the decision going our way, so it's importance was huge, as good as us scoring another.
Exactly, I dare say it spurred the team on even more having seen him pull off that worldie.

I agree he should have held it😀

I’m one of his biggest critics & think he should’ve done better with their goal. But the save from Robinson, offside or not was top notch.
Way I saw it was a great double save, second one would have rolled out of danger from Phillips but it stuck in the big mud patch in front of goal.

Groundsman aaarrrggghhhhhttttttttt

If Dean Henderson did that save, Roy Keane and the rest would have sucked his foreskin off

Great thing with Rammers is you don't need VAR 😂.

You know anytime he pulls off a worldy that it was offside and wouldn't have counted anyway

That has to be one of the greatest point blank saves I have seen. Normally in that situation the ball just hits the keeper if he is lucky enough, but Rammers stretched his hand out to the ball in just a split second. The save was as good as a goal.

Even Allardyce based his excuses on that save and called it the turning point. These comparisons with George Long need to stop.

If he'd have palmed it wide then Matt Phillips was stood waiting on the far post so it would have made little difference in my opinion.

To be fair Allardyce was trying to use the save as an excuse for his own Jurassic tactics. There were no contentious refereeing decisions to blame it on so he used his fallback excuse of luck. Apparently, we took our chances, whilst they didn't and that was the difference. He fails to mention that it would have been offside anyway. We won because we played the better attacking football and created lots of chances.

Good point. Also the shot was from quite a narrow angle, so it would have been hard to palm wide anyway in my view.

Well, exactly.. our defence had given West Brom the freedom of the box. There are only so many saves the keeper can make if everyone else going to stand and watch.

Best interview ever, he's completely lost the plot already. Scathing of his team and his players. Ignoring the fact that Robinson would have been offside. Signed some expensive loans. That Diagne looked a proper donkey. Well done Sam.

Yet again he knocked the ball back into the playing area. When will he ever fucking learn? He got off lucky there.
Also how come after catching the ball, how come he doesn’t spin the ball on his finger like the Harlem Globetrotters ? Whats his excuse for not scoring from goal kicks ?

It was offside. It would have gone to VAR. But after the woeful decision s of the past, who here truly thinks VAR would have got it right?
This is what I said whilst watching the game. He needed to make the save, if it had gone in there was no guarantee that it would have been overruled with the mess that is VAR.

Having criticized Ramsdale in the past, feel it only right to say he seems to have shaken off the malaise that dogged him previous to his last couple of games.
In the last couple of games he looks more the 'keeper we all expected, well done lad, please keep it up.
Much has to be said of his pushing the ball out and it falling into dangerous areas.
Although I hate to see this, unless it's a reaction save where no other action can be made, I fear it is a product of 'keeper coaching over many years now, therefore he cannot be totally to blame as I believe he has never been coached, catching the ball is superior to parry.
Like much teaching or aspirations today, this coaching is aimed at the lowest common denominator, instead of aiming for the highest, finding your own level, then attempting to improve on that, as was the case when I grew up.
The keeper is the only player in the team allowed to handle so use that advantage don't throw it away on a percentage strategy because it's easier.
Teach/practice catching, like most things in life "practice makes perfect" or as near as bloody well as.
Had mi rant, ta, but bloody hell it's so frustrating and easy, 'keepers catch the sodding ball.

That little reaction by him as soon as he bounced back up from making the save...thats a 'i'm feeling 10 feet tall and noones gonna beat me' confidence shooting through the veins.
And a pity there wasn’t a crowd in to react to it. From what I have seen from last season, he quite likes a celebration with the crowd. Could have been a Henderson-style moment, which would have done everyone good.

You have to be careful not to dismiss the change in football design when comparing how modern keepers differ from keepers in the past. Although the same weight, the balls don't get heavier due to moisture, so they remain light and fast. They are also designed to swerve - sometimes unpredictably - and they undoubtedly have more bounce in them. It all makes catching a ball harder and riskier.

Ramsdale is taking time to settle but he has shown patches of how good he can be, now WBA's goal was spozzy we'd run 1st half but not caused problems. Ramsdale made 2 great saves and IMO was unlucky, the 2nd half irrespective of offside was a marvellous save he doesn't know that. In addition knowing our luck with VAR would probably have stood, he is getting more confident and it's in our hands now.

Last night people on shoutbox were ragging Billy but, as usual he shoved words down their throats okay Brewster looked as sick as a bloke on a promise from a liar, but he did smile at the goal.

Patronizing humbug Hamburg.
True I didn't mention the footballs evolution over my lifetime but you might have give me the courtesy of knowledge of the changes and thought maybe I had some involvement in football after I last kicked a football in anger(that includes friendlies, owch).
To illustrate my knowledge of the evolution of footballs, we have two sons, four grandsons and one great grandson all of whom owned or were bought quality balls over the years which I have used with them to lesser or greater effect depending on their or my age.
Regards the ball getting heavier during a match, all football league games in my early life time where played with a new leather ball, which had a finish to the leather which acted as a barrier, to water, so over ninety minutes water absorption would be less than has been over emphasized over the years, media humbug.
Mud and it's differing consistencies had a bigger effect.
Balls designed to swerve, no doubt there are but would hope they are for circuses. In ANY football match they would make it a mockery.
Professionally, the balls should all have identical bounce, same as Wimbledon tennis balls, weight and inflation.
I believe it to be impolite to infer players cannot adapt to ball changes, after all they adapt to pitch conditions(weather)which affect ball reflex.

Watching the replays I wondered if it would have been better if Rammers hadn't saved the second attempt for their goal, as it was heading right towards Ampadu who would more likely have knocked it into the safer area on the left of the 6-yard box rather than the right where their man was stood unmarked. Not that it matters.
