Ends on Friday 21st, Ndiaye will be like the Duracell Bunny for the City game! Thought he tired on Friday, which is completely understandable on a hot day during Ramadan, it’s incredible that professional athletes can perform anything like their best when fasting.

It's an away game, he's allowed to break fast for it.

Amazing. Let us know when its Eid and Passover and every other irrelevence to SUFC in the season.
Eh? I really don't think he said anything disrespectful or owt to anyone, and with (at least) 2 first teamers currently fasting, it's probably a fair comment that it's a good effort, let alone in that sun. Really no need mate.

I love how a committed athlete like Ndiaye can fully observe Ramadan but the family I saw in full Muslim garb having burgers at Tim Hortons this morning can't.
Next week I fully expect to see an Orthodox Jew tucking into a bacon cheeseburger.

There are exceptions to fasting. It's not obligatory for every person in 'muslim garb' to adhere to.

I always remember my first Ramadan when I worked in Cairo in the 80’s.
Early in the first morning of Ramadan about 8 o’clock my Egyptian colleague Omar went missing.
I eventually found him around the back of the building blissfully sucking on a cigarette. “This fuckin Ramadan is killing me” he said.

Good post. I completely forgot about that. Both at the game and after on highlights and clips, I was trying to work out how Wigan silenced him in the second half. I never even considered fatigue/dehydration.

I did 1 day of fasting this year after a lad at work asked non-Muslim folk as a bit of a challenge. I had nowt to eat or drink between about 5.15am and 7.45pm. It was really fucking hard. Not so much the hunger, but the thirst and the associated banging headache. The thought of doing that every day for a month is dreadful, so full respect! As I understand, professional athletes don't have to observe it, so double respect for those that do!

Travel is one that I’m aware of. I’ve been away with Muslims where it wasn’t practical for them to fast, but they would make up for it when they were back at home. I’m not aware of any special dispensation for a trip to a fast food restaurant, although I suppose the family might be travelling and playing the “not practical” card 🙂

Health issues, such as diabetes, would exempt you from observing....which might be applicable here seeing as they were in a fast food restaurant for breakfast!

We’ve had the same request/challenge at our place. Simply couldn’t do it as I’m all on to stop tucking into my pack up at 10am. This is me sat at a desk pretending to work, not playing two games of championship football in 4 days. No idea how they manage it.

Will be joining my Muslim colleagues for a full Iftar buffet in a few weeks though 👌

Speaking of eating, although admittedly it’s a bit of a tangent. By coincidence, Mrs Trig and I were babysitting her baby granddaughter in Prestwich last night and I was despatched to the Golden Crown on Bury Old Road for a takeaway, decent grub, very aggressive service 🙂

Ah, excellent! Yes I'm about half a mile down the road from there. Not sure I've tried Golden Crown though, any good??

I've already primed my family that if Eid day falls on 22nd April, I'll only be spending a couple of hours with them before heading down to Wembley (don't say you haven't been warned 😆). It'll be the best Eid present ever when we beat Citeh (insha'Allah). UTB ⚔️
Mate, it's fine.

If Eid falls on the 22nd, just go with the Masjid down the road who is going on the hearsay that someone sighted the moon on the 21st. Best thing about Eid is it's flexibility 🤣😁 and Ramadan Mubarak
