Radio Sheff burning bridges

The issue isn't Radio Sheffield or The Guardian or the BBC or anyone else reporting the story. They're all paid to do so. The issue is that the story - one which should have been confidential - is sufficiently public that all those outlets have picked it up.

People in the know:
United - would want to keep it quiet until after the last game of the season
Evans - would want to keep it quiet to make sure it goes through
Chesterfield - don't give a shit. Boardroom a mess, debts all over the place.

I'm no expert but my guess as to the source of the leak would start and end at the Chesterfield side. That's probably why the fee is being reported far higher than it probably is: an attempt to appease their fans.

Shit stirring by Chesterfield.

Something funny going on at RS :/ all across the weekend RS had repeatedly told listeners that Monday nights football Heaven was a Blades promotion special, with guests, and Tuesday was the Doncaster Rovers special. No one from the club were in the studio, did they refuse or decline the offer to attend? Explain that.

When will this chip on some fans shoulders disappear?!

Both The Star and Radio Sheffield are news sources, it's their job to find out about and break news. When they're late to catch on to a story everyone moans, when the break news early everyone moans. They can't win either way.

The idea they are biased is a load of crap, take them for what they are (speculative information sources) and get on with what's actually happening, i.e. promotion to the Championship and winning the league. It's only our own fans that are being divisive and we might as well get over that and remain positive and united like we have been all season, I think we can all agree it's been a breath of fresh air having a positive environment this year.

She's really gone into the football angle in some detail on that one. hasn't she? Showing a comprehensive tactical mastery only normally seen by world cup winning coaches, she helpfully explains:

"Fantastic news for Ched Evans. Good man. Let the feminazis spit."

Once again the soaraway shitrag Star gets to the nub of the issues hurting their local communities..........

" Katie Hopkins, she's one of our own "

:D:D:D

You can't say that mate! I totally agree but many will always feel that both are biased against us. I'm not saying there hasn't been at times a bias probably most from the Sheffield Council in the 80's when we had Reg Brearley in charge but today I think Radio Sheffield and the Star do their best to be level headed and impartial. Yes Rob Staton is supposed to be a Wednesday fan. Who cares!? He's not Tango is he!

Noticed they are tweeting about the Doncaster special. A few United fans asking what happened to the United one but no one replying. Wonder if United pulled out because of the ched announcement
They answered this tonight. Said that everyone would have wanted to talk about Ched, so they agreed with the club to defer it to a later date.

It's all very well them doing a 2 hour special on day of parade but who is going to be listening we will all be at the parade

If it's all out in the open then the club should announce it then.

Did anyone talk about Ched on the night?

The idea they are biased is accurate and founded on long experience.

When they consistently report the United and Wednesday in an unbiased way. This includes not choosing to ignore negative aspects of Sheffield Wednesday's supporters, players or ownership . Also when they give both clubs equal coverage (pictures, column inches, air time). Until then partiality will be will be called out. United are the club on the doorstep after all.

Yeah because the Katie Hopkins article is newsworthy and is in no way The Star writing clickbait to stir the shit.

I thought their job was to report news not pointless tweets.

It could all be something to do with paying him to play rather than paying him off.

The author of that article couldn't have a worse understanding of the law if they tried. Evans was convicted of a crime which almost certainly classed as gross misconduct and even though that conviction was later quashed United would have had reasonable grounds for cancelling Evans' contract. Evans' contract ran out at the end of June 2012 anyway so even if we did cancel it, he would only have "lost out" on 8 weeks' wages (around £160,000). There was also enough rumour flying around at the time that we (McCabe) carried on paying him anyway so there was no loss of earnings.

If there is any claim it's because we naively offered Evans a contract on his release which we later withdraw. A promise is not actionable (cheers Pinchy !) but an agreed contract later withdrawn is. Any case brought by Evans would only really have a chance of succeeding if we'd signed a deal with him then backed out.

Tl;dr: that article is full of shit.

Not guilty :D

Loose lips, might sink ships ;)

The only way anything involving Katie Hopkins could be considered newsworthy would be if a massive fucking cartoon piano fell on her empty black hole of a head.

I thought Rob Staton worked for local radio and not The New York Times.

"I get paid to break stories". Do you bollocks, Robert.

I only caught the end of the programme but every other call was about Ched. And I'm not sure that I would agree that it's all out in the open - RS had broken the news and SUFC probably didn't want to send representatives to a "special" knowing that they would mostly get asked about Ched.

The most annoying aspect to me was that several callers criticised United for the timing, questioning why they had made an announcement before the end of the season, and RS conjectured on why that might be (other clubs interested, everyone knows that staff changes need to happen etc). It was only when I got home that I realised that it was RS who had broken the news, rather than it being a formal announcement, so the criticism should all have been directed at them (unless it was with our blessing).

Delusions of grandeur? See's what Seth Bennett is achieving and knows in his heart that won't be him, a Partridge-like career is his future.

Re: Seth... Exactly how is mithering Robbie Savage and Alan Shearer to pass the lonely evenings in a Travel Tavern not Partridge-esque?

Fair comment, I just think he's made it further (whatever "it" turns out to be) than Staton will.
