I'm making the trip on Tuesday night (yes, even after two 3-1 defeats at home to Gillingham)...

Was wondering where me and my mate can get a drink or two before the game?

Cheers

You two sound like nice lads, come along and join me and our crew in Dempseys.

Five minutes from BDTBL. Never any bother.

Don't be shy.

Didn't realise that. That's funny, you took the lead in both games too!!

Depending on what time you arrive, Bramall Lane is only a 10 min walk into the city centre.

Failing that, London Road has a lot of bars. Not sure which allow away fans in - the Cremorne definitely do https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Resta...emorne-Sheffield_South_Yorkshire_England.html

The Copthorne Hotel (Joined onto the away end end) let away fans in too - https://www.millenniumhotels.com/en...43490013|pkw|copthorne hotel sheffield|pmt|e|

Other than that, drink in the ground

I'll be in the Rutland.

Sensible away fans always welcome although I'm not sure that a trip from Southend on a Tuesday qualifies you as sensible ;)

Don't drink it's bad for your health.

Couldn't agree more.
My grandfather-in-law died whilst drinking a pint of milk.
His float hit a brick on the road, sent it careering into a bus stop.
My grandmother-in-law ended up marrying the only male survivor.
Harsh, but so true.

Don't Drink & Drive.

Most pubs around the ground serve lemonade so you'll be fine for your Lager top or lager shandy ;)

As long as you aren't a gobby southerner you'll be fine in 99% of our bars.

Golden Lion used to be good for away fans, not sure if that is still the case.

I'd agree with the rest, you'll probably be fine anywhere on a Tuesday night. Maybe give the Nelson a miss. Back in the day London Rd was traditionally home fans only, but for a night match v Southend you will be fine.

If you aren't wearing colours, the Sheffield Tap on the station is a good bet, arguably the best beer in town.

the Howard straight outside train station.
isnt that the designated away pub usualy?

Probably best to stay around the train station for away fans, if not then try London Road. The pubs around the ground are either home fans only or absolutely rammed. The copthorne hotel is ok for away fans but very expensive.

In all seriousness, i don't think there will be a problem in most pubs on the way to the ground from the train station. Couple of pubs on London Road like the Cremorne or the Golden Lion just off and behind Bramall Lane are normally ok with small numbers of away fans

At those prices it should keep the riff raff out. I might go there

yep itl keep the riffraff out, and after the novelties worn off itl keep everyone out. That place will have gone within 18 months unless they change their prices.

Its in a shit part of town in an uninspiring building with London prices, the foods nice but that wont be enough to keep any regulars.

S'all about the Sheaf view.. bit outta the way but they've got the best beers and ales I've ever drank.

if your going there make sure you take out a second mortgage first. Pints between £4.60 - £7 fucking rip off bastards.

Foods quite nice though

£250 for a season ticket !!!!! WTF Looks like a right poncing gaff.

Sheffield Tap or Red Lion would be my choice. Good beers in both and no bother. Hope you have a safe trip up, enjoy the beer, have a laugh.... a footballing nightmare at the Lane and a (safe) journey back to Saaaarfend with a face like a smacked arse.... a belly full of good Sheffield beer should help to ease the misery though!

Sheffield Tap, Rutland, Beer Engine, Cremorne, Railway Hotel, Sentinel. All either on the way to the ground or around it.

Fave out of those is the Beer Engine, but they all have a varied choice of Chuckle Juice.

Yes, but it looks like they are serving their own beer, rather than the generic Foster's/Stella/Carling fizzy piss. Presumably tapping into the hipster market?

If you don't fancy all this supping of mucky ale, join me in Nonna's on Ecclesall Road for a jar or two of Aperol Spritz.
