Question Do you think McCabe and the Prince are content to stay in the Championship

Both are skint, they won’t admit it and we are actually up for sale. Mcabe is clueless, he made 1 good decision....Wilder. The prince has no money to spend and we were all lied to.....again. Failure to back Wilder in jan will mean he will leave for a bigger club quite soon i reckon. Wilder needs to call them out over it, he did say the club must match his ambition, not looking good so far, still shopping in league 1.

We've been for sale for about 8 years.

KM knows he hasn't got deep enough pockets but fortunately for us he won't sell to the first multi billioniare who turns up from Azerbjan ('Land of fire') claiming he has always been a Blade.

If he could find a genuine investor who had the long term interest of the club at heart, he'd be out in a flash.

We need to hurry up

Taking out loans (two) is not recommended especially with the penalty charges applied by this lender if we default and secured against the clubs assets

If we went up next year we would have to throw a shed load of money at staying up. And we are not talking thousands either. Look at Bolton...they threw money at trying to stay up and now have a massive debt which will hand around their necks for years.
I personally hate everything that the Premiership stands for but am realistic to admit that that is where any football team should aspire to be. Are we ready? We have a good stadium and the appointment this week could widen our scouting prospects because we need to look at the wider picture where playing staff are concerned .
So I'm sure that the Premiership is our ultimate goal but we need to make sure that we have everything in place to avoid failure and massive debt.
Ironically, if Bolton had stayed up they'd probably be in a position to reduce the debt as there is so much money now with TV payments. We could get promoted, spend £50m on players and wages, get relegated and there'd still be £50m 'spare' plus parachute payments.

Don't think that question deserves an answer. The problem we have is keeping the wages under control and making a challenge for promotion ,it's easy to bring players in on big wages.
Wilder and the club want value for money we have to trust them to get it right
We do trust them, its the owners who nobody trusts due to past mistakes. Mcabe will win over alot of us and forgiven if he actually backs him like he said he would. But he wont and has bullshitted all of us again.

The documents are quite interesting - one is a charge over cash deposited in a bank account (effectively cash security) and the other appears to be an assignment over transfer contracts. It looks to me like they have agreed some form of securitisation against the total value of transfer fees, which isn’t uncommon given that you typically only get c25% up front. Question is, who could we be selling to warrant setting up such a facility.......

Basically a bridging loan to bring players in on 1 Jan whilst the money for Brooks is being paid to us?

A NO from me. They want the Premiership to get their money back, not sure they have enough to finance a big push for promotion though, it could take a bit of time if we can't spend big then it is even more important to hang on to players who come from the academy.

Financially don't seem inclined to take us to the next level.

Don’t or can’t? Bearing in mind that in relation to other football club owners they aren’t the most wealthy.

Do you know how much both of them have put in so far by the way?

Or to enable us to keep Brooks and bring players in?

If we go up they are repaid in full from the PL money and if we don't we either keep up the payments or sell players down the line

We wouldn't have to, we could try to be a yoyo club for a few years like West Brom did it.

Not sure what is meant by "secured against the club's assets".

As I understand it the ownership of the ground and hotel was transferred to McCabe's companies some years ago (can't remember which one, or which part of which company). I thought that the only assets that the football club had were the players.

See my earlier reply.

And you'd be happy with that?

Serious question?? Course I would!

They might not be doing so well this season but after yoyoing for a few years circa 2002-2010 and accumulating PL money all the while, they have managed to consolidate in that league for about the last 6 years now. We might have done that in 2007 if we hadn't got Robson in.

For a team that's just spend a long time in the third tier to challenge for the premier league is a huge jump and would take more than Kev and Prince can realistically achieve without a massive stroke of luck .
I don't think it's ambition or desire that holds us back , just a lack of capital and a dose of realism .
Last year Newcastle won the league at a canter, despite having a very experienced manager at the top level , keeping most of their PL players on high wages , they're just not good enough without at least £50m throwing at them in the JTW.
For the moment despite the miracles performed by CW and the team we just don't have the foundation to build sensible PL ambitions . i.e. Get there and stay there .
If the plan is to build a platform to ultimately make a serious challenge with the infrastructure, team , stadium and investors in place , then I'd agree with it .
