Tony Pulis has admitted he got it wrong in the season opener against Man City last night.
You see? People get it wrong sometimes.
It's how you deal with it that matters.

You deal with it by not getting beaten by the teams you are actually competing with.

West Brom and MC are in the same division but different leagues and last night was an "any point is a bonus" game for them. I suspect reaction to a home battering by Norwich City would have been treated differently.

Who is saying any different about United?

How will you deal with getting this post wrong? (just kidding!)

Always ready to stand corrected Gavlar if someone offers up a suitably challenging comment to something I've said.

Yep, dannysufc_ and barnyblade they're all fair points...I'm not on here to bawl anyone out or reckon to know any better than anyone. The tone of my OP was simply, look, Pulis stood up and took one on the chin, if he can we can, let's deal with it right and properly and move onwards and upwards hopefully. QUICKLY!
I agree the two games were against contrasting oppos but after what we saw on Saturday no-one can know for sure that Gillingham won't surprise a few this season, though Man City they clearly are not.
It's up to Adkins to kick a few arses...hard, the players to show some guts and the fans to criticise constructively whilst maintaining support for the club. Hopefully the mood is positive going into the next game rather than still carrying the gloom from Gillingham into it. And inept as he was, let's not have a lynch mob out for George if he plays again.

We have a lot of "apples v pears" comparisons lobbed out on here Sporters.

Wait until later in the season when we've lost at home to Fleetwood or Bury and, after a smattering (or 10) of complaints, we'll be told that all is fine and thank God we're not Barcelona struggling to overcome a 5 point deficit on Real (or vice versa), gets a bit wearing after a few years!

Really surprised WBA didn't start with Yacob, so I can see where Pulis is coming from.
We could do with a L1 version of him to be fair.

We could be more rational like the Arsenal fans after their loss to West Ham.

I am tipping Man City V Gillingham in the Champions League Final

Then we will see what Pelligrini has got

Yaya !! Pah !!

this may come as a shock nut after 5 seasons here gillingham are now our peers ie same level
whatever level you think we should be at

we arent and havent been a top club
for 40 years 5 seasons apart

if you keep setting our bar higher than it is your heading for even more disappointment
we had a good 6 year run of virtual success under warnock and 5 under bassett but that apart weve been cack

What's the solution then? Set the bar for staying in league 1 and be happy that we aren't getting relegated? Its called progress. Bournemouth wouldn't be in the Prem without setting the bar higher whilst we are still here, dreaming of the championship.

as its always been ,, one step at a time , get out of this then re adjust for the next level
its the same for 23 other clubs in this division

we are where we are
recriminations and blame are as much use as a chocolate fire guard

we all know how we got here, lets worry about the future and stop raking over shit we cant change

Saturday was bad , but just one day , hopefully we learn from it , not take it as a template for whats to come , but build a stronger team from it
Adkins didnt get to see our weaknesses pre season , he got them all dumped on him in one afternoon

Any words of advice for people who predict promotion every season?

we should compete , we do weve been 3rd 5th 7th and 5th

but we just keep falling short , the trick is to grow and get stronger
weve battled till april then looked short

hopefully Adkins will find the formula that takes us into month 10 getting stronger
losing game 1 is not the end of the campaign
being shit in one game , well any team can do that its the next one thats the tell
