Its Over Wilder

The thing that frustrating about wilder is there is rarely any in-game management in regards to changes in tactics or shape.

As soon as it went to 2-2 last night most of our fans could see what was coming next. We should have taken Brooks off (not because of his performance btw) and put soumare on as an extra midfielder to get some more control and ride out the momentum they'd built.

See out that 10 minute spell at 2-2 and then wrestle back some hold of the game and make your attacking change (jairo off for ings/cannon)

The problem is everyone knows the subs he will make 90% of the time and they are rarely for tactical reasons

It was a on odd game last night.
Preston looked good for 10 mins. Then we score. We then look on top and score again with a lucky bounce and then a nice bit of work from COH.

Rest of the half we seem in control, create a few moments that we should have made more of.

Preston grab a goal at the end of the half and their tails are up. They then get some luck themselves right at the start as Tanganga can't sort his legs out.

Tails even more up but we do fight back and have a spell.
3rd goal McGuinness gets that whack. He would have either closed down the player crossing or tracked the Jebbisons run. Instead he could do neither and this enabled a free cross and a free header.

After this we huffed and puffed but rarely threatened to get back in. But Soumare could have equalised from the corner knock down. They also could a should have taken the game away from us from that smith miss.

We could easily have won or drawn that game. On another day we do.

2-0 can be a dangerous score when there's so much time left.

This is the issue, most of our subs are made for physical reasons rather than tactical. This would actually be a viable strategy with so many subs available these days, if the quality of the replacement players was close to the starters, as the top clubs do. Sadly, ours are a horrendous drop off in standard.

It doesn't help having no big man up front - nor any right backs at all save maybe Seriki.
And that's not Wilder's fault.

Against Blackburn, because of 3 games in 6 days, we started with a few squad players and they were able to stay in the game. Then we were able to bring on strength from the bench and look what happened. With the weakness of the squad maybe we need to consider this approach more often and just set up to absorb pressure in the first half, accepting that we’ll have zero attacking threat until the substitutions are made.

That's exactly as I saw it - except that, from the away end, I didn't realise McGuinness was injured prior to the third goal.

It could easily have finished 3-3 or 4-2

For a neutral it would have been a great game to watch

It was an entertaining Championship game that either side could have won.

The xG has us 2.37 to 1.57 ahead.

We wanted to be competitive again after multiple surrenders under Sellés. We are. We’re not so far ahead that we can just turn up though and let the quality speak for itself; we’re without our 3 best or better players (Arblaster, Hamer, Davies).

Having slept on it, there are encouraging signs. But it doesn’t mean we will avoid matches where we are better and don’t win, whilst the opposite may also end up being true.

Football is a lot to do with luck. If we have Arblaster and Hamer fit for the rest of the season we’ll finish top 10.

Nothing is ever Wilders fault in some of your eyes. After a decent 45 minutes at Blackburn,we go back to last season’s performances. These performances are horrible to watch and apart from o’hare ,there is nothing remotely on the pitch that identifies style, shape, pattern or playing through the lines. As some say,I have never disliked a ‘team’ of players as I do at present.
