Progress on upgrading the Lane for Premier League?

I reckon we could probably fill a 40,000 capacity stadium as things stand now.

Only against the top 6 sides... Anyone who thinks we could currently get 40,000 gates every single match belongs with the Deluded.

I reckon we could probably fill a 40,000 capacity stadium as things stand now. Demand for tickets currently outweighs availability and we could easily sell out 40k for visits of spurs, man utd, liverpool etc.

If we become a stable PL club for the next 5-10 years surely we should be looking at an overall capacity of 45k or (and dare I say it) a new ground??? I would be against a new ground BTW!!!

I think if we became a stable mid-table Premiership team we'd actually see attendances lower a little as people will get bored eventually. We're currently on the crest of a wave so we have a lot of bandwagon jumpers.

Sort of agree with you but a capacity of 40,000 could be filled fairly regularly in the top flight.

I reckon we could have possibly sold another five thousand season tickets taking the home support to 31000 plus home pay on the day fans. Add the whole Lane end full of away fans when the bigger clubs visit, and any derby matches (Leeds, Wednesday) should they join us and a 40k capacity wouldn’t be unrealistic.

There’s a definite need for a bigger stadium. At the moment our ambitions are limited by the capacity.

We’ve become accustomed since the 70’s to thinking small and not seeing ourselves as a potential big top flight club. Now’s the chance with Wilder to change our mindset and think big.

As an aside I’ve just bought the ‘We’re not going to Wembley’ book and Wilder alludes to the fact he sees us as being in the top flight as just the start.

He’s got ambitions for this club and so should we.

Some predict that if Wilder does really well helping us to finish mid table, then he’ll receive interest from bigger clubs.

However I’m not so sure.
Eddie Howe and Sean Dyche have been brilliant at Bournmouth and Burnley respectfully but no other PL has shown any interest in them.

There’s actually a chance Wilder could be with us for many years to come because fortunately for us the PL fashion is to appoint big names or foreign managers.

That's what he said if you'd bothered to read the rest of his post. Find me one post which says we will get 40k every single match.

Agreed. The biggest threat to us losing Wilder is a 10th-to-15th PL side poaching him, but only while we're in the Championship.

Took my nippers to their first United game. Sat down the front near the wheelchair fans, Thought they'd get a decent view and only moderate swearing.
One of the carers was a gobby old fishwife effing and blinding at the away end fans. First time I've heard a woman shouting c**t in public. lol
Probably the same old girl that sat next to my 5 year old daughter, calling the linesman a c*nt....during a friendly 😆.

Have we added some seats below the Westfield corner? I've just noticed a new section on the ground map of BL4 that I have never seeb before.

Well spotted. That looks like additional away seating by the way it’s been coloured.

The thing I would add to the South, is stainless steel panels where it says "The Blades" and have "The Blades" mounted on the pillars, maybe have them light up when we play at night."

I'd have big neon flashing lights that say "The Blades"

I'm sure the late, great @stringsenior worked on this. String?
Yep I believe when @stringsenior was at Husband & Co... he designed the high level concrete counter structure which the roof steelwork attaches to. I think I’ve written something on this before but basically the early design had a full steel cantilever like the North stand at the rust bucket. Dad said bollocks to all that steelwork it’ll just rust and look rubbish so swapped in the concrete for some progressive S2 brutulism..!

Good suggestion, but what we really need are massive animatronic blades that strike each other when the ref blows his whistle and eject sparks all over the car park.

It could cause a problem in the future if there is a shoes off in the car park protest though.

Always been there just never been used. Will be this year

Don’t think so.....the stadium plan has always shown seats in the bottom tier Westfield corner but we know none actually exist.

Does anyone know the results of the Safety Committee and response from the PL?
Are we having areas with loads of netting again? Looks like part one full section of the upper tier isn’t for sale?
How many tickets do away fans receive and are we being forced to put 100 in the top tier meaning loads of segregation.

What will the official capacity be next season?

Edit: Just looked on the Leicester City ticket site and we’ve allocated them 2,865 tickets.
The normal rule is 3,000, the last time we were in the PL, they allowed us to allocate 2,990, less than the rule.
We’ve lost a further 100 seats in the bottom tier due to the stairways being built to exit the upper tier.
So it looks like the PL have allowed us just to put away fans in the bottom tier, suspect we’ll have the whole of the top tier.
Will the front rows of the BLUT be netted off though?

It’s referring to this section here. As you see, it’s slightly raised from the rest of the BLLT

Its a schematic diagram. Don't take it so literally. The seats are the ones nearest to the SS which have been netted off for the past few seasons.

Fair enough, your theory looks spot on.
Basically, every single available seat (including the front rows) in the lower tier are being sold to away fans next season. Which is good to see.

We forgot how many seats we had while we were pissing around in league 1.

Just looked at the seating plan.

I understood that we had built an extra stairwell leading down from the Bramall Lane upper tier, this is to satisfy the Safety committee
Because in case of a stadium evacuation it needs to be totally emptied within a certain time frame.
So I assumed EVERY seat in the BLUT would be made available for sale next season.

However looking at the stadium plan....the first 3 rows at the front are not available and there’s an whole section near the John Street that’s blanked off.
Surely we aren’t putting netting over 1000 seats in the BLUT or maybe the Safety Committee have designated these as the last to be sold
And can only be sold when the rest of the home areas have sold out.

SAG have to feel important. OK to let away fans have front row seats with the risk of pitch invasion just to fit in with premier league rules. Home fans though can lump it, there has to be segregation otherwise SAG would be reduced to setting minimum priority points requirements and a few jobs would become redundant. I very much doubt there will be no netted off areas in the Home ends.

With away fans taking those previously netted-off seats in the BLLT that's 500 seats in the bottom corner of the SS gone for a burton for a start.

Just a point, if ever the stadium is extended it won't be to 40k or 35k, it'll be to the amount that can reasonably be fitted in with the current infrastructure (which may be 40k who knows?) Also I'd love to hear the justification for not allowing some seats to be used, there are numerous other safety features above 'not using the seats' which should be adequate. As an analogy it's like not selling knives as they may stab people.

My lads were sniggering after I had a quiet word with her. She apologised, then 20 seconds later, ripped into the away fans again.
