Prince, thank you

I really don't get the fawning over him.

If him and McCabe hadn't have hired Wilder 8 years ago, then we may still be in the wilderness now.

Most of the infrastructure we have was built before he came along e.g. academy

He's also managed to get us a points deduction, lost players like N'Diaye and drag us through a messy court case with his partner
Saying thankyou to someone with the courage and desire to do what he's done is hardly "fawning" in my book.
I'd shake his hand and thank him.
Hard to argue that we've entertained and competed more consistently of late🤔
All the more remarkably perhaps given his limited budget.
Had more nous than me bringing Wilder and Knill back.I was against it.
But here we are yet again, giving it plenty and exciting the fans.
Surely he's playing a part in that.
Chris thanked him for his support and another crack at unfinished biz.
I can be as cynical as anyone, but I'd rather be humble and say thank you Prince.
Bramall Lane is a tremendous place to be on a matchday.

Enjoy while you can,we might be getting battered again next season,Prince or no Prince seemingly.🙏👍

Stopped the slide down the divisions under McCabe sole ownership.

Persevered with funding to eventually get us out of league one.

Was behind the scenes of some of the best time I have had following us.

3 premier league seasons and leaving us in a decent position for a 4th.

Am I the only one who couldn't give a fuck about the -2. Id take another it it meant promotion.

He's been a pragmatic owner. Definitely green-lit some things that at a surface level have been difficult to swallow at times but with reason. I think he's been a good presence for the club and a real part of its success since 2016. But it is clear that we can't progress any further under his stewardship. I'll say a gee ell tee tee ell.

It’s been refreshing at times to have him hard negotiate. Especially after Charles Green and McCabe flogging anyone at the first time of asking.

He’s also a football man, weirdly. In touch with the modern game. As much as McCabe knew his onions infrastructure wise, he was terribly out of touch with the advancements in football.

Prince is also a very lucky man, as failure in 2023 would’ve been catastrophic.

I really can’t forgive him for last season. Messing Hecky around, who did nothing wrong in my eyes and setting us up to get dicked on every week.

6/10. Would’ve been 8 if we had a go last season, even if it ended up in relegation.

You can only ask that someone does his best and lives in the 2020's instead of the 1980's.
He's not a billionaire, and he never asked to be in complete control of the club either, he only got that burden after the McCabe/Court Case fiasco. When he got complete control he had the task of buying all the assets back.

Two things that's improved are
1) Our ratio of actually getting players we've tried to sign.
2) The transfer fees we receive when one of our players leaves.

He’s dabbled and tbh ultimately won with the finances investing heavily for a club our size in his first premier league season but couldnt sustain the spending for us to at least stand still especially when we lost our best player. Yes he got burned with a transfer embargo and a late payment ultimately has cost us 2 points this season but we didn’t sell players wholesale when we were relegated on both occasions, on the whole I think he been good for the club we’re in reasonably good shape I just wish I could erase the 2 premier league seasons where we just never turned up to matches.

A good question to ask would be, “where would we be if our previous owner was still in charge?” answers on a post card

Has he actually left ...
No and the announcement by COH is to try and force his hand by showing everyone the ball is in his court. If this takeover fails it seems that it is down to him and if so how will he attract other buyers if they feel they may put all the work in just for him to get cold feet.

Very big couple of weeks upcoming, seems like now or not in the foreseeable future for him to sell the club

That is a scary thought…. The Prince pulls the deal…… we miss out on promotion…..no buyer interested at price Prince wants……rinse & repeat of the financial crisis he got in before. He’d be a madman to not sell right now after he claimed it made him & his family ill before.

Theres been some lows...

However these have been far out weighed by the highs!!

Compared to my time following the Blades since the 80s this is the best period we have had (in the last 6-7 years)

So for that he deserves praise. yes he has made mistakes... But show me an Owner who hasnt?

Football owners rarely leave clubs on good terms with the fans and I think if he choses wisely when to "get out" then he will always be seen in a positive light.

We were in the wilderness before he arrived. Yes, last season was dire. But three seasons in the Prem, one successful, was beyond our wildest dreams not so long ago. Three promotions. Leaves us top of the league primed for a fourth. Good owner. Seen some top players grace the turf. Iliman, Berge, the academy players, the list is endless if you compare the quality we've seen in recent years to what we were served before.
Yes, under his tenure we have become one of those yo yo clubs we could only dream about being, when we were in the dog shit league…Even last season was part of the glory years, when you consider where we came from.

Didn't the Desso pitch happen early on in his tenure as well? A shrewd and brave investment considering where we were at the time. Unlikely we see the concerts, boxing and international games without it, not to mention likely postponements saved.

to the Prince if our club is sold. Some of the money Spent on quality players has been outstanding. a change of rumbling since May with Premier, what a ride. Please show some respect to this dude 😎.
How can you show some respect for someone who is putting his own personal financial greed before the good of the club. When United got relegated, he said he was no longer financially viable to fund the club, and that the strain of this was personally affecting his family. Here we are now, 2 proposed and agreed takeovers that have collapsed, a current takeover that has been rumbling on since May with a major change of the suitor personell that has supposedly been approved by the EFL, but total stalemate now because the Saudi man can sense promotion and all the profit that will come with it, so his thinking is that the valuation of the club will escalate dramatically, meaning in 6 months time he can get 50% more than the current takeover agreed price. Pure GREED,!

His tenure has been more successful that McCabes although McCabes did all the stuff with the infrastructure.

Going away from all the McCabes/Prince stuff, it’s probably worth noting that the Prince has been very hands off and left most of the running of the club in the hands of a very capable CEO in Bettis.

The comparison should be viewed as The Prince as manager of a business in English football.
Wilder manages the football side and The Prince manages the business side.

Wilder needs a good quality director of football, and the Prince needs an English Football business manager as a guide/advisor/Chairperson.

Without both those people, the Prince might make more mistakes and end up giving Wilder a blank cheque book again, to run or ruin the football side again.

Last season was a nightmare football wise because Wilder ended up with no money, because the Prince had no money either. The Prince used all the PL money to run the club, pay wages, and avoid further sanctions.

If the Prince does go, the new owners will need a similar guide/advosor, chairperson. Wilder will benefit from a DOF. Last time around, he had too many fingers in too many pies. Great if he wants to exercise control, but best left to others, so he can concentrate all his efforts on first team coaching.
Everything from the ticket system to tea ladies should be run by someone who takes that kind of distraction, away from Wilder.
The DOF needs to be someone of the same mould as Dave Bassett. Sensible, pragmatic and loads of common sense, Someone who has the clout to say NO and to be able to back it up.
The Chairperson needs to be a former successfully owner and/or manager at the highest level. A wealth of legal knowledge and a football mindset is a must for this job.

The prospective owners may already have a wish list for both appointments. Others may well disagree with this, but consider the fact that top level football is now run as a business in this country. It still needs a football brain to manage it, and a successful businessman to run it. This is perhaps why we are stuck where we are?
Only an opinion, so have at it.

I don't think it's all negative if he stays as we all thought we were 'doomed' this season but with some very sensible trading we've ended up top of the league with a better team than we had last year.

However he clearly can't financially support a PL survival push.

What I can't believe is that there isn't some kind of financial clause in the contract which takes account of what division we are in next season. If there is then what the he'll is he playing at?

It must be about 10 years ago when I said I wouldnt mind us becoming a yo yo club between the Prem and the Championship

This is the highest position it can possibly be without massive investment

The worst part of this club is its image, if we go up we'll be ridiculed as not belonging in the Premier League and an absolute certainty to be relegated

Oxford and Luton could go on amazing runs of form and get promoted with us, and it would still be scruffy old us that gets ridiculed as not belonging.

A team that has more top flight years than half the current Premier League gets ridiculed every time it gets promoted.

This is down to the clubs image, a downtrodden, flat cap wearing, poor old us image that the former Chairman and chairmen before him harnessed and revelled in.

If McCabe was solely in charge I have no doubt that Burrows, Souttar, Rak Sakyi, Hamer, Campbell, Cooper and O'Hare wouldn't be here, and Arblaster wouldn't be either.

And that would more than likely mean we wouldn't be anywhere near promotion candidates

I think some of that attitude towards us stems from taking West Ham to court (correct though we were to do so).
