Prince on Sheff United Way

Difficult to take any SUWAY 'interview' with the Prince seriously.

They're already spinning out the PR line that we did everything we can to convince Ndiaye to stay. That he wanted too much money, wouldn't meet the Prince, blah blah blah.

The club accepted the first offer they received for Ndiaye. Evidently they didn't do everything they could. They did almost nothing.
What a strange take. If you’re ITK fair do’s but I highly doubt the club wanted to offload him and if he wants to go what more can you do? The fee I suspect we wanted to get as high as we could as he wouldn’t sign a contract. And people comparing him with Gyokeres, Ndiaye wanted to go to Marseille only based on him rejecting PL clubs so no bidding war we have a 20% sell on.

It is possible to ask hardball questions to someone without being too abrasive.

I like your "Oh its free content so don't criticise it." stance. It's a poor excuse for accepting weak content regardless of whether its free or paid for.

What do you mean by "accepting weak content"? Surely if I watch it and speak fondly of it I personally like it, are you the governing authority for grading the content?

Some people here are thinking their interviews with PA are poor content. The reason people turned to independent podcasts and YouTube channels is because they had enough of stage managed PR content from clubs and mainstream outlets.

If we wanted a PR interview then the Prince may as well do one with Paul Walker for SUTV.

My main questions are;

1. Why are so many players out of contract next season and how many have extensions that we can trigger?

2. Why have we got such a pitiful amount to spend on player recruitment in our most important summer since 2019/20? Where has the supposed cash windfall for promotion to the Premier League gone?

3. I'd like to become involved in the everyday running of Sheffield United. Would a degree in clowning help my chances?

4. Many of our fans have £2 in their wallets. Will you sell the club to them for that? After all, you'd have gotten your money back and an extra 50% on top. Many then this club might be run by someone who ACTUALLY cares about it.

(You can keep United World by the way, as no one cares about Who Gives A Toss Rovers in Belgium, Tin Pot FC in India and Who The Hell Are These Anyway City in Turkmenistan.)

Think their asking for questions not shit jokes

What ever happens this team wont be as bad as the one that got relegated from the old 3rd division to the 4th. Not sure why everyone is surprised it's a united thing. As for replacing him it's impossible some of the players being sold for £50-60m couldn't lace his boots. Yes I'm sad he's gone would have been a all time great at the lane but it is what it is. The club doesn't deserve our backing but their going to need it more than ever. He's gone get over it.

Hal and Nick have worked themselves in to a privileged position where they can speak directly (privately and publicly) to our owner. I don't understand the hate some have towards them, we should be grateful as fans that we have fellow fans that are able to arrange the interviews/Q&A's.

People are moaning that they don't interrogate HRH but why should they risk losing these opportunities and contacts by being aggressive or confrontational?

In tonight's video Hal is actually encouraging us to ask difficult questions for the next video with HRH and I'm sure he will ask them but it's up to HRH to answer or allow them to be published, it's literally a case of don't shoot the messenger.

Correct me if I am wrong but I am pretty sure he said similar before they last interviewed PA as well.

It is entirely up to the viewer whether to accept it or not. Just don’t click.

Unfortunately for SUW, they’re discovering the danger of associating with the ownership. In the old days, the local rag would have to tread the line between access and independence. Nowadays it’s some random hobbyist with a webcam in his spare bedroom. What a strange world.

Having a go at Hal and Nick for getting info from the owner seems like people shooting the messenger to me. You can say you think they are too close to the club to be impartial and slag off their content but they're getting something no other media outlet is.

I really don't like how a fan channel and a supporter from Spain are the ones breaking this sort of information but that's not their fault. Obviously it's a 2 way street and they get the views and scoops but it seems like it's either SUW interviewing him or nobody.

There is a reason communication at other clubs isn't done this way but I don't think you can blame a fan channel for getting information and interviews from the owner when nobody else gets them. If you want to have a go at anyone then surely it's The Prince for refusing to work with more traditional outlets.

The Star and Radio Sheffield burnt their bridges years ago.

I've made my point about SUW already. Maybe this interview will be different.

I imagine it's more to do with Hal worrying about fans over stepping the line and posting abuse to the Prince if it was live. I doubt they'll avoid controversial questions.

Are we really that annoyed that we're taking cheap pot shots at a fan run channel? That's a new low.
You think that is bad I seem to recall our fans getting seriously angry with a certain Bryan Robson it was the most vile and toxic atmosphere I have ever seen at the lane and a minority of our fans proceeded to start rocking the car he was in and was shouting all kinds of vitrioloc abuse at him.

The Prince is lucky he isn't in Sheffield because he would certainly get a piece of the fans mind.

That’s the thing though, we can’t have a go at the Prince. He’s never fucking here. I don’t even know who our chairman is 😂

I think your point is valid. Can a channel with those sort of ties be impartial enough to get the answers we want? I just think having a go at the channel shields The Prince from criticism somewhat.

Like I have said already if its going to be a PR managed interview then what's the point doing it with SUW. May as well just do it on SUTV with Paul Walker or whoever.

If you'd like to ask any question please pop them on this thread on twitter (or X) and I'll collate them into a list, there might be some repetition and we want the interview to be around 30 mins so if your question doesn't get asked it might be because someone else has already covered the same topic.

I have just listened to the SUW podcast and they completely miss the point.
They talk as if the decision is completely in Ndiaye’s hands as to whether to accept our new contract or go to OM.
That is not the case.
What about our prerogative to hold him to his present contract for 12 months and see if he can keep us up ?
The power is in our hands to either get $15m today or keep him and get nothing next summer - so why not treat it like a $15m loan fee for the prize of $120m we’d get by avoiding relegation.
That’s the question for the Prince.
Was it better to get $15m today and lose our only chance of staying up or to “pay” $15m for a chance of $120m ?
IMHO we can’t get anything like Ndiaye goals & assists for $15m so it’s a no brainer.
So let the Prince explain why he thinks spending $15m on replacements is a better policy

So what’s the point of interviewing if they didn’t put their guests on the spot and continue with the cheesy brown tongue prepped with HRH sessions
It’s quite embarrassing at times listening to them b

As someone who doesn't use Twitter can I post here? I'm guessing all the big questions have been posed, and likely mine too.

What if really love to know is why is our administrative side so poor, yes I understand football is not like a normal business, but the things it does have in common we are so bad at. Examples being constant delays getting paperwork done for signings, and more pertinately due diligence and potential owners. We've been through two costly (in terms of time, money and reputational damage to the club) when even a basic level of investigation could have cut them off at source

Having Ndiaye would be no guarantee of staying up. Losing Ndiaye is no guarantee of going down. He's a great player and I'm very sad to see him go, but we're more than a one player team.

What if Ndiaye told the club he’s desperate to leave this window?

We’re dealing with human beings, not robots! Forcing a player to stay isn’t the best idea.

I’d much rather get a transfer fee and bring in a player(s) that actually want to be at the club.

What are you expecting from an interview with a football club owner? Something like a scene from a A Few Good Men where Tom Cruise pressures Jack Nicholson into shouting “You can’t handle the truth!”?

Owners of football clubs don’t get to where they are in life without being excellent communicators. They’re similar to MPs. It’s doesn’t matter what the question, how much pressure is seemingly applied, the Prince won’t get flustered. If it’s a subject he doesn’t like, he’ll remain calm and give an answer that isn’t really much of an answer.

Or just look gormless and change subject. I like the man but sometimes he just looks vacant and I swear he coughed once and three flies flew out his mouth.
