Prince is taking over

My thoughts are….. it’s pretty much guesswork on all our parts as to the intentions of the Prince, if in fact he is taking control of our club. There seems to be a fair split of optimism & pessimism on the board therefore I suggest we approach Utd and propose a sit down meeting with HRH and forum members.
Now, it’s clear we can’t all go so we need to select a small committee, democratically elected by the members, for the members (four score years & all that, which is incidentally roughly how long it’s been since we won anything of note).
My nominations would be…

Pinchy – To get to the heart of HRH’s Bladeyness credentials

The Crab – Obviously there’s potential for commercial opportunities here…and who wouldn’t want to see the iconic red and white stripes emblazoned with a googly eyed crustacean

LYDON – To pitch in a few random questions that no matter how well rehearsed and advised The Prince was, he’d have to think on his feet.

Sean Thornton – Might be wrong but you have some background in accounting and financials ?….you can ask the serious stuff at the end when our new owner has been “broken” and more likely to be open with us.

I've read every post on this thread but may have missed the point I'm about to make:
Maybe this is for no other reason than spreading a little of the family's wealth to other countries (I appreciate a lot of what they have will already be outside SA) just in case that rainy day comes where you get home from work to find a man with a gun sitting in your favourite chair and you need to leave quickly. Buying a UK business now would be a lot easier than when you have your cash 'tied up'.
Where would this leave United? Exactly in the same place we are now.
Buying a luxurious apartment in a London tower block would be easier and almost certainly more profitable than buying a football club!

with no comment as yet from McCabe it looks more like a hostile takeover bid.

All part of the original agreement, McCabe is powerless to prevent it, if, and it`s an IF at this stage, Prince has enough capital to purchase everything stated.

Won`t be a quick deal this one......

There is also no comment from the Prince.
You can only assume that the press release was approved by both parties.

That’s far too reasonable a take for here I’m afraid – where’s the sudden discomfort for an owner we were fine with 24 hours ago, or the panic that we’re selling the club and moving it to the Middle East?

Let me be the first to say, GLTTLLC.

GLTTLLC?

Tha needs some cough medicine.

A minor consideration but he could have just bought a nice little health club somewhere that just about breaks even to achieve the same end.

But it wouldn't give you the opportunity to move your money around in quite the same way or be a high profile Great British employer (I'm looking at guys like Mohammed al Fayad and Roman Abramovic as examples here).

Fayed was involved in shipping and property development. He'd lived in London and made vast amounts of money before he got involved in Fulham.

Interesting. On the football side, the Prince takes on all losses and the pressure for more investment to push for promotion.

Is your view Kevin wants shut of all the real estate? My main concern is the Lane and Shirecliffe. Obviously they are significant further investment items if the Prince has to or wants to buy.

I personally don’t care about the hotel and it makes a loss (due to continuing financing not operations?). Who takes this, stay with Kevin, go to Prince, 3rd party ? I can see it being protracted and messy.

Do you have any insight?

Moving money around is probably quite simple (if you have enough) but I do like the sound of the high profile Great British employer! :)
Al Fayad and Abramovic would be ok by me!

The hotel does, as you say incur annual losses. Covered by KMc. It's in a stand alone company not SU Ltd.

It's not Ewing versus Barnes......
I thought you could only do a hostile takeover bid if it's a PLC. It's like Gazidis at Arsenal. Usmanov said 'sell me your shares' and Gazidis said 'no, end of'.

My question to those who are unhappy about the Prince taking over is in which direction were we heading before he came on board? Which direction are we now heading?

He doesn’t seem to have done too badly so far

Presumably the planning permission gained for the various properties / enhancements at Bramall Lane recently add to the value of the asset. A defensive move on McCabe's part? A way to force any sale to be on best possible terms?

Personally I don`t think McCabe wants shut of anything!

I cannot believe he would give the freehold up, amazed that`s part of the original agreement.
He must have a reason for this, he would obviously just pass it to his sons, keep it in the family.

Maybe he is now regretting getting involved witht the Prince.
It seems he has not put the money in he promised, the big money, and still has this buy out option.

It`s worrying for me, can`t see this working out at all.

Just pure speculation, but I think McCabe is hoping its too rich for The prince, and he walks away, allowing fresh investment.

Eek!

Surely if the Prince has not put in the money he promised he has renaged on his agreement and the Prince subsequently does not have a buy out option.
Has your info come from the McCabe camp as in all honesty I heard the total opposite, re the Prince wanting to speculate in the JTW and McCabe not being prepared to match it which forced the Prince to exercise his option.
I am only going on what I have been told and unless we hear it from the horses mouth etc.etc. I have my doubts about the credibility of all information, but McCabe not matching the Princes ambition would surely be more realistic or McCabe would have triggered the option to buy out the Prince?
If he does not have personal funds he is surely well connected with the Chinese ?
If the Prince has not invested sufficient funds yet still has an option to buy, it says very little for Mccabes advisors.

As always with football, we will just have to wait and see.....

And for everyone commenting on Saudi Arabia's human rights record. Is this the Prince's doing and what does that have to do with football?
