Prince is taking over

There is some fair old cash in that family, who knows our prince may be a popular nephew!

The net worth of the entire royal family has been estimated at well over $1.4 trillion which makes them one of the wealthiest families in the world if not the wealthiest.

We could in 6-12 months time be solely run by the royal family of Saudi Arabia, a country with a truly appalling human rights record, how can you not be excited?

Good evening, Mr. Toby Foster.

Not a word about Despot Chansiri being in sole charge of Barnsley South or Thailand's impeccable human rights record?

The Prince taking control does not automatically mean McCabe is on his way out he could be the perfect advisor to the Prince and still have a role in the running of the club. If it means a higher level of investment it could be a good thing as long as it is done in the right way. People are naturally scared or wary of change but if McCabe can't or won't take us up a level then maybe it is for the best, I am 100% confident McCabe will not sell out to a Chansiri type of new owner.

With plans to buy the freehold !!!!!!!

"The Investment Agreement also includes a provision for the transfer of the Club in certain circumstances of the freeholds of Bramall Lane Stadium (and the long leasehold interests in the Copthorne Hotel and Enterprise Centre) plus Shirecliffe Academy and the Junior Development Centre at Crookes."

Lads, it's okay. The Prince once finished in 194th worldwide in the PL's official fantasy football league. I think the guy clearly knows what he's doing.

;)

I cannot see McCabe giving HRH an option to buy unless they had agreed appropriate valuations, the terms may need negotiation but I doubt valuations.

As people are saying McCabe put the option there, has worked with him for ages, and is negotiating and has together with the Prince has put out a bit to reassure the fans, so I don't see it as a power struggle.

McCabe is getting on and if he didn't want to go now would've gone relatively soon I imagine, as his kids don't seem to stay involved.

I'm sure we'll find out more in the coming weeks.

As for the job the Prince scarpered for, it was sports minister for his government wasn't it?

But presumably the option was put there before he had worked with him. it says "The Investment Agreement also includes a provision for the transfer of the Club in certain circumstances" so I am hoping that means the agreement included some controls put in place for if the option was taken.

Not exactly great PR for us.

Since when did we care about that? Actually, more to the point, you reckon anyone in football would care? There's tonnes of money sloshing around the leagues from ill-gotten gains. Not saying it's a good thing, but whether it's good PR or not is probably the least of our worries.

The Kevettes will be fuming...

Clearly this statement can and is being taken several ways.

Personally I’m reading “exercising his option” as “it was in the original contract years ago” & now McCabe doesn’t have a choice.

While I agree that McCabe would never sell to someone who wasn’t right for the club, I don’t think he has a choice anymore

Mcsue has taken us as far as he can. Hasnt been willing to spend in recent years. He wouldn’t sell us down the river so i think this is coming at the right time. Iam excited for our future......
My take is that McCabe expected more investment from the prince, given the terms of the initial deal. The prince viewed it differently, hence the stalemate in investment,

It will hopefully pan out that given the ability to reep the full reward of any input, the price will be happier to invest more.

Me immediate reaction was "shit". Purely cos under McCabe I felt despitecerrors he always had our best intentions at hand. I'd hope he would hand the keys over if he wasn't sure it would be in good hands.

No-one knows for sure what the future will hold let's hold tight stick together and see what it brings.

Provided we're still competingin this league and still at s2 4su I'll be happy. Anything more would be great.

On the Saudi subject, can't say I'm too enthused about being fully owned by the Royal Family of a country who have funded ISIS and the spread of radical Islam across the world to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars.

Not exactly great PR for us.

Not this again. There are rogue elements in the House of Saud, but Al Qaeda and IS are implacably opposed to the Saudi royal family (who, among other things, revoked Bin Laden’s Saudi citizenship and effectively expelled him from the country, as well as trying to assassinate him on several occasions). The islamists see House of Saud as apostate tools of the US and Israel.

There are many reasons to loathe the House of Saud. But supporting radical Islamism is not among them.

Whatever the Saudis have funded is more than likely to have been funded (albeit indirectly) by the UK and US governments as well at some point.

I would avoid mixing politics and football, the 2 things are complicated enough on their own.

I am quite sure that if McCabe provided HRH with an option to buy, he also ensured that a watertight agreement was in place to ensure details of the Princes investment

And sadly, I’m quite sure he didn’t.

I bet Chelsea and Man City fans weep at the fortunes hat unethical money has bestowed upon them.
I was thinking about this earlier today, oddly enough, and I'm struggling to think of a country that produces billionaires that doesn't have a dodgy human rights record. Some would say the U.S. but they're happy to prop up dodgy regimes and they do business like cunts (I know this from personal experience). In fact many of the worst owners of clubs have been American. So we're pretty much between a rock and a hard place when it comes to getting a rich owner to invest in us.

At least the Prince has been around long enough now to understand some of the pitfalls of being an owner and is less likely to have his pants pulled down than some of the more naive owners that get involved and seems to have a plan with buying this Belgian club. Only time will tell.
