I notice Birch mentioned style of play a few times and although Speedo avoided it by saying results are what matters at this stage, it's obviously been on the agenda.

So, a rift already eh????

We've heard how good his coaching sessions can be, but how will he now transfer what the players do on the training pitch to a match now that he has control of the team?

If you're right why were we supposedly wasting all week training one way and playing a different way on Saturdays?

How unprofessional and what tit would put up with that.

Our new manager, doh!

He was a coach, no matter what you say as a coach to the manager, or do with the players on the training pitch, you do not decide the tactics and the style of play or the game plan that is ultimately left to the manager, and if you still want to get your pay check at the end of week or month you put up with that.

By the way do you have any experience other than just watching as a fan watching the games of what goes on behind the scenes in coaching??

bit late to the party as i've been traveling. just saw a small bit on ssn. i'd love to know if one of speed's first moves as manager will be to call a taxi for andy taylor.

I liked Speeds comment about learning stuff from managers you don't like.
Could be taken as a dig at Blackie, or not depending on how much you want to spin it. :D

If you are going to deliver the managers way of playing you deliver that on the training ground. Comments people have made give the impression that the training delivered was good/enjoyable so surely different to the way of playing cus the way of playing was tedious.

'watching as a fan' thats me.

I know im too late but id like to ask him.
'Mr Speed, it must give you immence pleasure to see most international swimmers wearing your brand of swim wear.'

Well I'm a fan but I also coach albeit on a low level, so I can talk on my experiences and of a few other coaches experiences, some of which are employee's for local academies, I deliever a session plan that is asked of me by the guy who runs the team at the present time, he'll ask me to structure a plan designed around what he feels the team needs to work on, e.g attacking... I have the freedom to choose what 'games' I will use and that I feel will best work and be the best recieved by players, these games work on key points not the whole picture, as a coach I try to promote decision making of my players and their communication, I'll advise the manager, after that it's the manager who chooses the style of play and the tactic, he then has to relay his wishes to the team.
From then on thats when things can go wrong. Training can be as good and enjoyable as you like but if you simply over complicate one aspect of the game when a manager relays those tactics, then the whole game can be thrown off, then United also had players playing in a multitude of various position from one game to the next, what do you think that will do to players in key areas?
