who would you sign instead?
Very true Lenners.
Doyle proved his capabilities last term, in league one.
He has to be better than Monty though so maybe Micky does have things under control?
Sadly, Doyle isn't any better than Monty which tells it all. Goodness knows what the manager has in mind if he is planning to play the two together. This one signing alone makes me truly despair and only confirms that yet again we have a manager who is clueless in the transfer market. I have no doubt we will put out a side each week that will get 10 out of 10 for effort, and who knows this may be enough to get us promoted from Div. 1 which is surely the place we are now heading.

If we're signing players like Doyle, you have to wonder if MA already has half an eye on League One.
Beginning to look iffy for Mickey.
Nah, Micky knows what he is doing. Footballing luminaries such as Jansky, Steel and the rest on here tell me so. He aint long ball you know?
I just cannot accept that Doyle virtually never scores, is incapable of striking a football properly, incapable of controling a ball when under pressure, virtually never creates, offers no real protection to his defence, almost continually loses possession when trying anything other than a 5 yard pass to a man in space, and concedes a ridiculous number of free-kicks and penalties when his headless chicken routine means he moronically runs into players. It just cannot be true.
Len, you don't have talk some bollocks sometimes, mate.
Where did Doyle play the whole of last season?
Where did he play in the six years prior to that?
For a below average Championship team that he's no longer good enough for?
Sorry but a bit of genuine quality if what we need.
More lower level Championship players/League One players will only take us in that direction.
How often have you seen Doyle play ? Once or twice or never ?

Seen him enough to know he's about on par with Monty which is the last thing we want at the moment. Wasting the small amount of money available to them has been the downfall of many previous managers and Adams already seems to be going the same way.
I've always thought Kevin Doyle was a decent striker and should do a job for us.
One factor I see in this is leadership. With Morgs out we're crying out for a leader on the pitch - one of the things I can't see Monty (amongst others) giving us at the moment. I've heard Doyle described as "gobby" elsewhere - if he can motivate other players and get them playing (similar to McCall) then he doesn't have to be Messi.
It's OK moaning that he plays for an average Championship team, but at the moment I'd settle for us being "average". I'd rather be where Coventry are in the table than where we are!
who would you sign instead?
Someone with a bit of quality, a bit of ability to create chances and score the odd goal.
We seem to have quite a few tryers in midfield already.
What's worrying is he appears to be a permanent signing.
You were asked.
You answered.
Now don,t avoid it . NAME THE PLAYERS YOU WOULD SIGN AND AT WHAT COST YOU BELIEVE WE'D GET THEM FOR.
Indeed, I answered.
And we will now have less money available for the quality we need by signing another midfielder whose career record does not suggest he is any better than Monty, Quinn, Williamson etc - one of whom there was already no place for on Saturday.
Is your argument we don't need more quality so we should sign another scuffler instead?
